As someone diagnosed with ASPD, this is no different, than all the other "comparison" vids... Personally I have less than 5 people I truly care about. Everyone else, I feel nothing. Sociopaths definitely can have bonds, for me its very limited. Spend most of time by myself. I have for a long time, and I like it that way. If you know, then you know 💯

“Psychopath can be a sociopath but a sociopath can’t be a psychopath” Confusing? It can be...
So you believe sociopaths are born. Ok well let’s break it down socio-, prefix. socio- is attached to roots and sometimes words and means "social; sociological; society” when forming compound words such as socioeconomic or sociopath. You see -o- combining form of Latin “socius” -a fellow, companion, comrade.
Society -a group, or a group of
people who live together in a particular social system. In the 1880s, the prefix "socio-" first came up in science and medicine. German-American psychiatrist and neurologist Karl Birnbaum appears to have coined the word "sociopathy" in 1909. Then, in 1930, American psychologist George E. Partridge popularized the term and contrasted it with "psychopathy."
Partridge described a sociopath as an individual who displayed antisocial behavior or defied social norms. Psychology researchers generally believe that psychopaths tends to be born - it’s a genetic predisposition - while sociopaths tend to be made by their environment. Which is not to say that psychopaths may not also suffer from some sort of childhood trauma progressing the psychopathy and vise versa. A sociopath can have some sort genetic predisposition, I’m not saying that a sociopath can’t have a genetic predisposition. That would be inaccurate and arrogant considering every single human born has some sort of genetic predisposition. But the difference is that a psychopath doesn’t need a trigger. They are a psychopath from birth. A sociopath from birth until the “triggering” event was normal in the idea of they could form bonds display GENUINE empathy and sympathy, if they were narcissistic, it was on the lower end of the spectrum.
From a diagnostic standpoint, the etiology or cause of psychopathy is different from that of sociopathy. I contend that psychopathy is the result of “nature” (genetics), while sociopathy is the result of “nurture” (environment).
Research has shown psychopaths have underdeveloped components of the brain related to a physiological defect commonly thought to be responsible for emotion regulation and impulse control.
Sociopathy, on the other hand, is more likely the product of childhood trauma and physical or emotional abuse. Because sociopathy appears to be learned rather than innate, sociopaths are capable of empathy in certain circumstances, and with certain individuals, but not others. Sociopaths, in general, tend to be more impulsive and erratic in their behavior than their psychopath counterparts. While also having difficulties in forming attachments to others, some sociopaths may be able to form an attachment to a like-minded group or person. Unlike psychopaths, most sociopaths don’t hold down long-term jobs or present much of a normal family life to the outside world.
All in all, psychopathy and sociopathy are different cultural labels applied to the diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder. Up to 3 percent of the population may qualify for a diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder. This disorder is more common among males and mostly seen in people with an alcohol or substance abuse problem, or in forensic settings such as prisons.
Sociopaths tend to be more erratic, rage-prone, and unable to lead as much of a normal life
Psychopaths tend to be more manipulative, can be seen by others as more charming, lead a semblance of a normal life, and minimize risk in criminal activities.
Maybe this clears it up for you

@@chiriviscospower ok you just somewhat validated what I was trying to convey.
Those who are considered a “psychopath” will show some sort of deviant behavior from a very very early age. i.e. young children who torture animals or those that are pyromaniacs, the list is quite extensive. But those who top experts (some of whom I was blessed to be a student of) call a “sociopath” generally didn’t display early deviant behavior. But the difference is that a psychopath doesn’t need a "trigger" or "event" in order for the psycho to make an appearance. They are a psychopath from birth. A person who is later diagnosed with sociopathy, from birth until the “triggering” event was normal in the idea of they could form HEATHY bonds display GENUINE empathy and sympathy, if they were narcissistic, it was on the lower end of the spectrum, most of them didn’t torture animals or try to burn down the neighbors house with them inside.
From a diagnostic standpoint, the etiology or cause of psychopathy is different from that of sociopathy. Which is why through personal experience which "triggered" a determination to understand why people do what they do in turn lead to me choosing my path of education to follow that of psychology is why I contend that psychopathy is the result of “nature” (genetics), while sociopathy is the result of “nurture” (environments).

IMHO, the biggest difference is their origin. You don't usually become a psychopath, but are born as one, whereas sociopaths are a product of a harmful environment. This would explain why sociopaths are far closer to normal humans in their mind, whereas psychopaths are so detached that they hardly are capable of feeling fear, regret, disgust, shame... And are thus immune to burn-out, depression, and PTSD!

Sociopaths are made 100%, depending on how bad the conditions they are in, how much negativity influences them, corrupts them.

@@edi9892 People defending psychopaths or anyone evil is truly sickening. If they murdered their beloved, nobody would be fawning over them huh?
That’s horrible. Are you guys still friends to this day? It’s good you have a good intuition, many or most antisocial people have great intuition, of course not all but many. I find it interesting.
And your friend must have been quite the manipulator. I couldn’t even lie if I wanted to, I have a habit of looking away from people’s eyes. Whenever I stare too long into people’s eyes, I get this intense urge to do something and I start having rapid heart palpations.
There are some psychopaths who aren’t villains as portrayed in media or movies. Mostly there are cruel ones but hiding away. I agree psychopaths are hard to identify.
I don’t get why people admire murderers, what is there in murderers that makes others excited or feeling admiration for? It’s truly pathetic.
I used to have a close friend, let’s just say his name is A. My friend A, we met each other in 6th grade and became close during 7th grade I think. I always felt like he had this strange presence within him, as a kid, I’ve always had good intuition and it wasn’t really hard for me to notice some things. Just some.
Female and male psychopaths are different in some ways so identifying gets a bit trickier but personally in my opinion, I’d say females are harder to identify as psychopaths mainly because of how the media and movie portrays men as psychopaths more than females.
So I could tell something was off with A, when I first met him, he wasn’t always alone but he looked bored around people as if he wanted something more amusing. We met each other and had some things in common such as reading, writing, art, into horror genres, calligraphy etc.
We stopped being friends after he just cut off contacts with me, as in ghosted me, he dropped out of high school of Sophomore year. I visited his parents home and they brushed me away, as I insisted on knowing what happened, they told me and then made me leave.
They said something about him having mental issues. I couldn’t see him again. It doesn’t really visibly show he’s a psychopath but not long after finding out he had killed our neighbors pets, I just went along with the fact he’s messed up. Not to mention my pet was missing as well.
Being in denial, I kept contacting him and he told me we weren’t friends anyways. I got upset as it’s a natural reaction if anyone did this or said this to you. We cursed at each other until he blocked me, then our friendship completely ended officially that day.
I’m not a sociopath, narcissist, nor a psychopath, I’m out of those categories. I feel sad cause of our memories but I don’t regret ending our friendship. Who knows how long a person can last with a psycho lmao.
People really need to get out of their mind and open their eyes, psychopaths aren’t gonna spare you even if you’re their friend. There will always be trouble regardless.

@@bme7995 I met two people who I consider psychopaths. I liked both of them, though that female colleague scared me TBH. She could have ruined me with a wisper.
The other person was my grandfather. He was a really cool dude. He was the only of my relatives who spoke about WWII, as we've ended up on the losing side and my relatives were too traumatized or shameful to talk about it.
He was refreshingly different. He talked in a matter-of-fact manner without making any excuses, nor painting himself as a hero or victim. What I also really appreciated about him was that despite him being raised to hate Slavic people, he didn't give a damn and despite the horrors at the eastern front, he never held any grudges. He married a Slavic woman and visited Slavic countries, whereas other people kept grudges alive for several generations!
He was self-taught, sly, and mischievous, but for the most part not judging. He was the only one who didn't give me an earful, or threaten to disinherit me for my taste of women. As a boy, I found an illegal rifle and shot with it and while everyone jumped into cover, he casually walked up to the direction of the shots and then asked me what I was aiming at and then asked me to hand over the rifle and shot my target (a street sign) dead center and that in his 80s!
However, he was not a good guy by any stretch of the definition. He protected my mother from a relative who tried to molest her. He chased after a conman and beat him up to get his wife's money back. He got into prison nearly as soon as he was released from his POW status because he had nothing better to do than to steal dynamite and go fishing in the city lake... He visited Moskow in the height of the cold war and smuggled goods in and out for fun and chased after skirts while his wife was left at home! To make things worse, his little daughter (my mother) accompanied him and he forgot about her and she was lost in a place where no one spoke German, except those that had business shooting Germans... and everyone was afraid of spies and the special police... Shortly before his death, he promised everyone his wealth and spent everything secretly knowing that the vultures would fight each other to the last feather...
He was a fun guy to be around, but not a responsible worker, father nor husband...

What are you basing that on? The current literature is that there is both a genetic and environmental component to both Psychopathy and Sociopathy. There is absolutely no credible evidence to suggest that 'Psychopaths' don't feel any emotions at all, infact they can feel anger and fear just fine, especially if they get into a situation where someone has caught them doing something they can be very explosive with emotions it's just that their emotions are usually much more muted than the neurotypical person, especially when it comes to compasion for other people and everyone varies there isn't a single recipe that all psychopaths follow..
Besides, those two terms Psychopath and Sociopath are highly disputed - Psychopathy is just an area of study it's not something that is diagnosable where as Sociopathy is generally referred to ASPD.

Sociopaths are made from abuse in childhood a lot of foster children end up being sociopaths or RAD kids. sociopaths who kill do have to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol Jeffery dahmer is a great example he had to drink before killing because he found it distasteful we do have a conscience unlike psychopaths

Not all Sociopaths and Psychopaths have the same emotional regulation or expression. For instance, some have temper tantrums (most likely a sociopath), some have no emotional output at all. What I mean is, not all S or P have the drive or find it necessary to kill someone. They also have a frontal lobe (90% of the time) which means just because there is little inhibition emotionally, that doesn't mean that they can't regulate themselves, that they are crazy, or that they can't function in society without harming anyone. You shouldn't be diagnosed with ASPD for "unusual behavior" and I think everyone who really needed a therapist would be diagnosed with it if that was the case. Psychopaths tend to be more practical and methodic than sociopaths, more, controlling over themselves and others when when absolutely necessary. Sociopaths are just neurotypicals with
    an..........akward........upbringing.

However she seem to me to fit the DMS IV description of a sociopath. @mattpotter8725 3 года назад +1

@@robiimccann I keep hearing this and it's absolute rubbish. It sounds good, even as though it could be true, but it's rubbish. No one is born a psychopath, they form their attitudes to live growing up. If by born you mean earlier in their life then I agree, I would say they come from your much a loving, caring environment they grow up in and how their parents act towards each other and how much attention they are given, but they don't come out of the womb as psychopaths.
Sociopaths I think can be created by many different things, they can also gain their tendencies at an early age, they are their family and friends getting things by behaving in a certain way, they can be empathetic and then a certain life event changes how they behave (although I think this can happen for psychopaths as well), or they can just be educated in such a way that they see it as an advantage to behave that way.
The way I see it, and as the name suggests, sociopaths like to be around people, they manipulate people by being continually part of a group, where psychopaths manipulate people when they happen to come into contact with people, they tend to be more loners because of they did hang out in larger groups their thoughts and views would be uncovered and they would be more at risk of being found out if they committed acts of violence. I think the term psychopath and sociopath are used too quickly though and it's not so black and white, there is overlap and some psychopaths have social tendancies whilst some sociopaths don't like to hang out in such large groups.
I know I've written a lot here, but the real difference is that psychopaths are more physically violent and often do what they do purely for pleasure, whilst sociopaths do what they do to benefit themselves financially, emotionally, and to gain almost self congratulation to make themselves feel better. Both are about getting pleasure in some way, but I think sociopaths do it with a purpose in mind and not just for control or self image.

And seing how my so called friends used to just use me as a tool it worsen to say the least, i mean i lack what emotion to use someone dies i laugh, someone cries i laugh, a baby cries i feel joy, I rarely feel sad nor empathy this days whether or not someone gets hurt or not the crazy part is people said i will kill them which is partially right since grudges but it's probably because of my weird habit of playing with knives and other weird habits, my weird habits are somewhat close to a psychopath but i could assure that im not besides the dark humor that i like, People tend to mistake me for a psychopath because of that aswell, but either way i still have somewhat of empathy the only times i felt emphatic was to my family.....my fathers side but not to anyone else i mean i still don't understand why people feel sad after a breakup or if someone dies should i cry but either way this video is accurate

I feel like psychopaths are charmers, whereas sociopaths are more chaotic.

I would strongly recommend that you not distance yourself from these people or exclude them from your life when you are able to determine if they are a sociopath or a psychopath. That will only draw them further into their mental psyche and become even more harmful to those who cannot determine if they are a sociopath or psychopath. Just try to understand them, and still be a friend. Try to help them, but knowledge when they are trying to manipulate you. Otherwise you are just helping to create a mixing pot for a seriously dangerous individual.

Psychopath would be chaotic with murder but a sociopath would do murder secret

For the most part, these are informal terms that aren't used clinically any more. Which isn't to say that Psychiatrists don't use them, like "Crazy," but they've been replaced by a more comprehensive spectrum of Anti-social behavior. There was never really a consensus on what the differenceS (Plural) were, and they were used interchangeably. One patient may have been called a Sociopath by one doctor, and a Psychopath by another.

One of the problems with the Ambiguity is that a lot of people were mis-diagnosed by this "Poster Diagnosis" pop psychiatry. By unqualified semi-professionals, like school councilors. Being mis-diagnosed as ASPD (ADHD, Bipolar...) prevented me from being diagnosed as Schizotypal. Because they don't have a handy reference poster, and pamphlets for that.

do police officers ever get institutionalized for being psychotic or psychopathic when they abuse their power? seems like they just get told to 'go home' for a few days as a temporary suspension instead

“I’m not a psychopath. I’m a sociopath. There’s a difference. You see a psychopath is insane, he can’t distinguish between wrong and right. A sociopath knows the difference, he just doesn’t have a conscience. Ya know? So he doesn’t care” - Pretender 2001

Dude supplying the general populus who is susceptible to confirmation bias, who think internet tests mean something, and then present it as somewhat credible and suggest it be used to (secretly) evaluate other people is insanely dumb and imo irresponsible.

calling psychopaths and sociopaths "crazy" is very wrong. Here, in post-soviet countries, the word "psychopath" is often being used to describe a person with severe mental issues. In reality, that's not the case, psychopaths are a lot more "stable" then "normal" people. The "crazy" ones usually have scyzophrenia, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, dissociative personality disorder, but even those are not all "crazy", only the extreme cases

At 0:20 it really sounds like you say "for black of a better word"
I'm wonder if the "B" in "better" threw you off or if you really think that's the phrase or I'm hearing incorrectly

This is wrong for sociopath your talking about a low functioning psychopath the whole time and as someone with high functioning ASPD I find this video offensive. If your gonna talk about cluster B disorders ( personality disorders) you need to talk about them all not all people with ASPD are sociopaths or psychopath. Where is BP and all the others?? If someone told their friend they had ASPD and they seen this video they would run. Not fair or accurate information
