A BIG heatwave will impact a large portion of the Eastern United States this week, with temperatures possibly as high as the triple digits in some areas! Additionally, rounds of severe thunderstorms will march across the Northern United States this week, bringing the chance for damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. Happy Monday, June 17th everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day Weekend. We have a HUGE heatwave building across the Eastern U.S. this week, which could lead to multiple areas reaching 100 degrees for several days! Additionally, rounds of severe thunderstorms will march across the Northern U.S. this week. Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes will be possible with each round of severe thunderstorms.

Can confirm in Cincinnati at 5:50am it was air you can wear. It was gross. Usually the morning walk from the parking garage to the office it’s nice. Not today. I’m not looking forward to walk back to the parking garage.

Some people are saying online a derecho is possible in the Ohio valley because of the heatwave like in 2012 and I just wanna hear your thoughts about if a derecho is possible anytime soon?
This type of weather pattern could produce derechos but I currently do not see a scenario where a derecho would be possible this week.

Does northeast Ohio have a ton more storm action with the heat this week? Will there be derecho shots towards the end of the month?
Derechos are very difficult to predict
Still dry and hot for Jacksonville FL?
There may be some rain showers or thunderstorms in Jacksonville, Florida at times this week. But there will also be plenty of dry hours too.
With the heat and ring of fire set up.
How likely do you expect a derecho in Michigan between Muskegon to Manistee? The air feels right for a good severe thunderstorm. If one would kick off. It's hot as heck + humid.
Derechos are very difficult to predict. Maybe last week of June is when severe weather may increase for Michigan again, otherwise I don’t see any scenario for a derecho right now.
