  • Ian reviews the Harley Ingleby Moe surfboard:
    www.boardshop....
The Harley Ingleby Moe mid-length surfboard in the awesome and undeniably beautiful Thunderbolt technology.
The Moe mid-length is going to have a wide appeal amongst surfers of all abilities and preferences. Guys and girls who normally ride shortboards looking for a crowd-beating ride for weaker summer waves are going to love the versatility and manoeuvrability of the Moe and will certainly enjoy the ease with which they'll massively increase their wave count. If, like me, you're getting older and need a little help with some extra float and paddle speed the Moe is definitely going to reignite your stoke without having to commit to a full size longboard or perish the thought surrender to the paddle board! The Moe is also a great option for the longboarder who fancies (for whatever reason) riding something a little shorter and testing their shorter-board riding skills.
When Harley got together with his shaper Billy Tolhurst to design the Moe, they set about creating an easy riding mid-length which would paddle easily and be a forgiving board for the beginner but at the same time deliver some performance (and heaps of fun) for the more experienced rider.
Whatever you do don't confuse the Moe with a mini-mal, there is a hell of a lot going on in this genius little board besides the cutting edge tech and looks to die for. The bottom is relatively flat with a double concave between the feet which is a great combination for executing carving turns on a wider surfboard. The board carries plenty of volume but the rails have been cleverly blended from neutral to round with a tucked edge at the fins and low and sharper behind the fins for harder turns and better control. The Moe's rocker is pretty even, not too flat with just enough lift at the tail to keep things loose and a slight flip in the nose for a better fit in slightly steeper waves.
With 2 World Longboard titles under his belt, Harley is known for his shortboard style attack alongside a smooth and traditional longboard repertoire.
The Moe is constructed using 'Thunderbolt Red' a 100% hand layup Xeon Fibreglass Lamination which delivers a competition weight and flex surfboard. Thunderbolt Red uses a Fused Cell EPS Foam Blank which incorporates a Carbon Fibre Multi-Component Flex Control System which replaces a traditional wooden stringer which along with the Xeon Fibreglass lamination delivers a familiar flex which will remain for the extended lifespan of these durable boards. Thunderbolt Red uses a 6 + 4oz fibreglass deck lamination with 6 + 2oz on the bottom. The Fused Cell EPS Foam Blank is wrapped in a Core Shield PVC Shell which affords flexible protection to the EPS core.
These boards are 100% hand layups and finished to the very highest standard, and it's worth remembering that the board you buy from us is exactly the same as Harley is riding!

I have owned this board for a year now and I love it. I've surfed it in marginal surfs where I wouldn't even go out to over head punchy beach breaks.
    It just works!

Yay I just bought one yesterday Saturday afternoon, in Aguadilla , Puerto Rico . My Tuff Lite Am water hog was a great board but easily cracks , and the I buckled it on a bomb set in Rincon. So can’t wait to enjoy what seems to be a much better board , design , and durable construction ! Yes it was very costly but hope it’s worth it . ✌🏻😉😁

I bought one of these for small summer waves and agree with everything you’ve said Ian. The best shape for smaller, weaker waves. It seems expensive but worth it with thunderbolt etc and should last forever.
Interesting comment on the quad versus thruster. What template and size would you recommend for 7’4?

Hi. I’m a beginner/ intermediate and thinking of a Moe or a torq chancho. Which would you say would give me best progression going forward but easy to start on.
    I’m 5’9 and 10 stone 6. ( and 60)
Mostly surf south coast or north Devon
    Cheers

Hey ! I'm 1,66 m and 56 kg. I'm looking for a mid performance for weak wave. I'm afraid to be too light for this board in 7'2. May be the OVA skindog in 7'0 be better for light guy ? What do you think please ?
