I love your little cabinet. I actually tried Katie Scott’s Popsicle trick as well. I failed and got so frustrated I ripped them all off. I think your idea of keeping the board clamped on is very smart. I had so many rip off that I couldn’t deal with it. I gave up. I was going to try paint sticks to see if they might be a bit more sturdy. But so far I have abandoned the project. Great work and good determination.
i like your upcycle, but i like repetition in contrasting bits, so my eyes are looking for the back of the cabinet to have a lighter tone to match the herringbone drawer front, or somewhere else to have that light tone. maybe a gray pickling of the herringbone would retain some of the wood tone but tone it down into a color which would match with the gray paint on the rest of the piece. on the other hand, who am i to say anything against your choices? you did a fab job as always, from choosing an interesting piece of furniture, to modernizing the legs and door pulls, to taking great care to produce a lovely finished product. you are just soooooo talented!
I was thinking the same thing. I actually tried to add burlap to the doors, but it wasn’t working so I bagged it. But then I decorated it with more of the natural wood and gold to offset the drawer.
Looks wonderful! Is the color you used called Weathervane? So glad you showed us how to spray HTP! I’ve only brushed and stippled it to apply - looks great!

Wooden Venetian blinds are so much easy to work with then the tongue depressors as they don’t warp

It is a very dark gray. The knobs are black, and you can see the slight difference.
