- I found GOLD, Silver and lots of coins Metal Detecting Huntington Beach.
I used my Minelab Equinox 900 metal detector. I also select the winner of last week's "Would you dig it?" contest and I have another "Would you dig it?" giveaway for a $25 Amazon gift card.

I've watched quite a few beach detecting videos. It's amazing how many "grills" are found. How in the world do you lose something like that? Looks like a great bunch of guys to hang out with.

Hello Jim What budget metal detector would you recommend?
There are some really good ones like the Xterra, Vanquish, I prefer the Equinox but Nokta has some good machines too. Do your research on what machines people are having success with in your area.

actually I want the 15" coil but I carry Haley up and down the stairs 2 to 3 times a day and that takes a toll on my body. But if I am going to hunt dry sand a lot this summer I will definitely put the 15" back on.

How many grams was the gold ring? I just got a class ring last week and it rang at solid 60.....16 grams
16 grams is a big ring, no wonder it rang up a higher tone. I did not weight it but I would say like 5 grams.

What's a good metal detector to start with
That is a tough question, I would first ask myself what type of hunting am I going to do. Beach, Park, Field, Desert Gold, etc... Then I would ask how often will I detect, then I would research what machines people are having success using in my local area. Now a days there are several good machines, Minelab XTerra is most affordable that can handle the beach, Nokta makes a few good machines. I use the Minelab Equinox. I hope that helps!

The wife and I were vacationing there last week. We were at Huntington Beach much later in the day and lunched at the Shack, beach level below Dukes. We were based out of Dana Point and sleep in. Maybe someday we will meet, but not before sun up. Lol
