Good good job .great explanation. I HOPE you don't take the 'thumbs down' folks seriously. I cannot believe anyone would give a thumbs down for someone trying to help others. So I'm giving 79 THUMBS UP to equalize those that gave you the thumbs down. Keep up the tutorials.
Leah you are the most positive and upbeat person on youtube.
thanks!
As a sister tool junkie, of course I love this video, Leah!
🙂👍
Being a woodworker brings all the people together
self centering drills are a must have
Very cool tool.
Thanks again Leah!
Glad you're showing these to folks. I've used the rockler kit for some years now. It's even better for smaller hinges, drawer slides, etc. where there are tighter tolerances. These are sometimes called Vix bits, too, not sure if that's a brand or generic name. I don't use the sleeve part, since I don't drive my hinge screws with a drill, but rather with a power screwdriver, good if I am doing a bunch of screws, or by hand for a few. I don't use the drill on hinge screws which are generally on cabinet doors made of hardwood because I want something less aggressive, smaller and easier to control. Not so likely to strip out the screws, overtighten, etc. So, the sleeve has a place, but I've never used it because of the type of projects I do. The (Vix) hinge bits are great for both speed and accurcy, I wouldn't be without them. They are pricey, but I got them when on sale when they are more affordable.
One of my favorite tool. I have it in a variety of sizes and I used often for centering in all kinds of holes. Thanks for sharing.
🙂👍
Wow, I've never seen anything like this. Thank you for feeding our never ending quest for making jobs easier!
🙂
That is cool Leah, funny I got a similar set for Christmas several years ago and have never used it. I will be trying it out now since I've seen you show how handy it is. Thanx!
Rockler makes the most amazing woodworking tools
Practical with less fuss and having to switch between/and carry a speed drill and impact driver....on my wish list...thanks Leah.....gratefully, female carpenter, Eastern Canada, MaryEllen
That is a cool tool Leah! And lately. YOUVE been my cool tool! I'm learning so much from you. I just love your videos!
Wow! It made the job better and faster.
Pretty cool tool for sure. If you did a lot of door hinges it definitely would be the tool to have. The amount of time you can save would add up fast!! Thanks again Leah!
Very smart tool , thx for the video 👍
Nice good work Leah, I'm in the 🇵🇭 Phil. God bless
You're right. It is a cool tool. I like how excited you get about tools. Thanks for showing this one to us.
thanks so much, Linda!
Thank you. Too pricey for me. Worth it I am sure for a frequent door hanger as time is money. Thank you for another awesome presentation.
Brilliant tool .
Way cool! Thanks for sharing this with us Leah!
I learn so much from you. So glad I found your channel.
good stuff. you have a knack for explaining products and processes.

I like Vix Bits from SE Vick Tool. Best self centering bits for the job!
It is a cool tool. Years ago I saw some professionals do a video review of the multitool vibrating sander cutter when it first came out on the market. They panned it. Boy, they missed that one. It's easy to miss something but it takes a special person to take a second look and in the new light display what was once missed. Nice video good job.
David Fricker thanks!
Thank you Leah, awesome tool. Blessings.
I really appreciate your videos. I learn a lot from each one. Thank you
you're very welcome, and thanks for watching!
A vix bit, been using those for years, a fantastic tool indeed!
You are an EXCELLENT instructor!!!
That counter sink bit is cooler than you realize. Notice it's tapered point design. When working with thin boards,(I install cabinet's), where you need the put a screw in the side of say a half or three quarter inch board, (say cabinet door hinge), a regular bit, especially if you're drilling deep or in cheap board like MDF, will split the wood. That tapered bit won't do that. I don't suggest using an impact as it don't take long and you'll snap the bit at the quick connect and they're about $10 apiece. But they're a game changer
Very cool. I want one!
Just subscribed. Should have done it a long time ago. You're a great teacher and I learn a lot! You do a fantastic job.
thank you, Dave!
I agree she just has a great way of explaining things and I've been in the trade for 18years 😂👍🏼🔨
Another great video Leah. Thank you and keep up the good work.
It's all about the tools! Thanks for sharing!!
Amazing helpful tips.
Definitely impressive
Pretty cool, I especially liked the drill bit with the counter sink combo. Never seen that before. I was planning on having a drill with the counter and another one with the drill bit in order to save time. XD
As always, cool Leah!!
Great Video!
Added to my wishlist. Thanks for sharing!
🙂
Handy tool for wood boat work. I bought one.
That is a handy little kit... another great and helpful video...
🙂
I need a cool tool like that!
Thank you. Keep up the good work. 😊
I have a bit that goes into the drill chuck. You can drill a pilot hole, then pull off the part at the end and flip it around and your Phillips bit is there to drive home screws.
Excellent!
I like that! Will look for one for myself.
🙂
That is a really cool tool!!! ;)
Great vid.
love your videos, thanks for all your usefull tips
Thanks that is cool. Countersinking bits are always a problem though. The most-used ones are those with pilot hole bits 3mm less - the bits are easily broken and the collars move.
Thanks Leah, I bought the "INSTI-bit " kit at Rockler a while back and have used parts of it from time to time when I am doing larger projects. I forgot about the snap-over attachment for quick changes without removing the first part. More projects to complete like making new kitchen cabinet doors with "European hidden hinges ". J K
As always you are my 100% in new knowledge. Thanks
thank you so much!
I have a tool kit similar to that one from Dewalt and I have found it to be useful recently on two jobs I had to complete. After using some of the bits I was glad to have it and get my money's worth out of some of the bits in the kit.
Hi Sidney, that is good to know that there are other companies that make this tool.
I figured that since it was DeWalt then the tools should be nice and I already had their brand driver anyway.
Cool tool
I bet you thought, how could I just put it away without a go at it. That is a remarkable tool. Thank You!
🙂
I really like the sleeve attachment
Im saving this video tell Christmas time. Thank you, Thank you. :)
That is going on my Christmas list!!!
😀👍
love your videos, although I know most of what you post about, I still find a 'Gem' every once in a while. As they say 'your never too old to learn'
I love your videos, thanks for sharing..
super cool. but if i haven't been able to buy a drill, much less a set like that, but it's a awesome little tool.
hi Leah, can you please make a video about the Sosa hinges? i would like to use them on kitchen doors 18mm
thanks in advance
best regards 👍
Holy Crap ~ Who Knew ~ Thanks! OXOX
Another cool took is that ryobi door hinge jig they sell at home depot for $20. Makes mortising hinges for a door a 1 min job.
Always have neat stuff to show. Thanks!
you're very welcome, and thanks for watching!
I've never been a fan of those hinge drill bits. Bought a set of 3 a few years back but just didn't like them. That sleeve looks great though! Another nice video thanks 🔨👍🏼
Great 👍 job , great practice, endless possibilities what a great time saver .
Those rockwell self centering pilot drill bits are good, but I prefer Vix Bits.. they seem to hold up a lot longer.
pretty cool video & pretty cool tool for also it's pretty darn expensive
Nice as always.
It's a cool tool but it's a little pricey for me. I don't do a lot of carpentry but I could see this being a real time saver for someone that does.
Bruce L. This unit is costly, but other people make units like this minus the sleeve attachment.
Cabinet shops and furniture building. I've mounted hundreds of custom made doors using these to quickly pilot the Salice hinges, etc.... Can adjust the plunge depth also I believe....
It should only be about ten of your earth bucks. :¬D
Cheaper than buying and using two separate drill/drivers for a job, but if you already have the two drill/drivers with one set up with the centering drill and the other with the countersink, it is quicker to use the 2 drill set up than to keep changing the sleeve around, and you would save about $90 considering the sales tax, etc. At $30 to $40, even with a less complete set, it might be worth trying out. Thanks for the video.
Like your chanel I allways hit the like botton
thanks
That's a great tool i would have to save up for that one
O yeah these are in every cabinet shop. Be careful and keep your particular plane of angle straight..... I think I've broken a couple of the bits inside. Thanks for the cool tool expose.
Brilliant!!!
I finally got to see jane drill
ken ezzell that's funny
I love you Leah....you make me feel like I can build Rome in a day👌😅
😄👍
Nice 🔧
I don’t know if you’ve seen the tool or not yet. But I received a little kit as a gift, called the Zach Rabbit. It’s extremely nice, well made Zach is the carpenter from Tiny House Nation. He developed these apparently, and I have to say it’s the biggest time saver ever. It’s very pricey thought. The basic kit is about $60 and the one I received was the full kit for $99 I think? It sounds like it was kinda based off of this tool kit but much much better.
thanks Leah
you're welcome, Michael!
Cool tool. Love your channel Leah. Any new videos coming?
the drill bit is tapered for trad tapered screws
I love your videos. I just noticed the Patreon. I will donate!
Ohh i wish i had that when i was building my pirate ship😌
I have a similar tool different design but this one is nice as well.
Auntie, how do I use a countersink bit with dowels?
Interesting... on the countersink, at 4:10, you reversed the drill to take the bit out. I've never done that. Is there any advantage to reversing or is this just a habit you developed?
Nicest thing is the perfect centers.
yes, I really appreciated that as well. 🙂
Been calling you 'Jane' Leah
I doubt this ? Will get an answer but. . . CAN it be used with a kreg pilot hole gig??? That would be wonderful ,or if there is a tool out that can be used for that as not to have to change drill bit to screw driver over and over???
Of you mean a pocket hole jig, I don't believe it would work well in tandem. The drill bit sleeve may be to large to insert into the jig.
Until you swap out a driver bit for a drill bit a dozen or more times, you've no idea how handy this is.
NICE!!!!
After a couple of doors, you just gave yourself a pay raise. To those complaining about the cost of this tool... Time is money. Clients love to pay, for quick accurate work. They don’t like to sit around, and wait all day. Just a tad bit of food for thought.
Ms. Leah, that is pretty cool, saves not only steps, but remembering or fishing out the second or third piece one needs. I do have a question when you get time. (Sorry for being behind on y’all’s videos) it appeared that the Tool removed some of the brass plating off the hinge. It didn’t look like it interfered with the screw being set correctly but it looked like it took the countersink part off. I was wondering if you have any concerns about rust setting in?
you know, Elaine, it was just a "trick of the camera angle", because it really didn't take off any of the plating. 🙂
seejanedrill thank you so much Ms. Leah!
yow .. neat as can be.. sleevie !
It is kinda neat, but it's pricey. For almost the same price, one can catch cordless drills on sale and have one for drill bit, and a 2nd for the driver. Self-centering bits are nice.
If your job is hanging doors you'd better have this, especially if you're self-employed. The increase in productivity pays off and puts money in your pocket day after day after day.
Thanks Leah, good example on it's uses!!!
#PeaceAndLove
Oh, _~bleep bleeping~_ right it's a cool
tool! That is _REALLY_ cool, in fact! Especially since I never, ever liked a quick change drill chuck, and this bypasses that disaster (IMO - I know people who like those chucks) of a situation. 😉
I know this is a 3 year old video, but dayum, this needs _seen,_ so here's here's comment for that Almighty Algorithm so maybe it'll get in people's feeds to be seen!
I imagine another benefit of this is that your hinge isn't going to move, since the holes will be much better centered than if you mark, remove, pre-drill, put back... Will this make the door easier to plumb when hanging? Since the hinge is more likely to be set correctly, vs tipped a little, or just slightly out of square with the other hinges.
rjtumble Man, I find a way to mess it up every time. Keeping the hinge in place with a dab of CA glue would make things much more precise for me.
joedanger666 I'm about to hang a door, I'll give that a try, thanks for the tip
