Granted, the temptation of “all the world shall be yours” was actually the hardest part. Given what Jesus knew He had to do in the end, it was a shortcut. And if He did take it, he would gain the world, but we would have been forever lost. Each of those temptations were an example of what we should do when tempted by the devil. In the same way that God doesn’t need to rest but on the 7th day of creation, He did; Jesus was setting the standard for us like His Father before us.
I think that one was actually foreshadowing. Satan was offering Jesus bread from outside, but Jesus was like, "I'm bread of life mate, who you bamboozling?!"
It actually does belong to Satan, that’s why he offered it 🥲 “So he brought him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in an instant of time. Then the Devil said to him: “I will give you all this authority and their glory, because it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.” (Luke 4:5, 6) And Satan still has control over the world, that’s why it’s so wicked
@@sckaze777 Sorry, I wasn't clear. You're right in what you're saying, God did create the world and it belongs to Him. But the control over the world was given to Satan for a short period of time. And since Satan is running out of time, he is furious and pushes humanity toward disaster. Which explains why everything is wrong with society nowadays. But why would God hand it to him in the first place? Well, that's another topic to discuss

Interesting rule of fasting. If you fast for long periods of time like several weeks it's not safe to just start eating solid food, in fact you can actually die from it. You have to start slowly coming off the fast with liquids, nothing with too high in sugar and slowly start reintroducing solids. Some people start with drinking water from boiling rice.. but if you fast for 40 days or even like 20 or 30 you can't just break the fast by having a steak dinner. It can send you to the hospital
ohh so that's why my mom always tells me to not eat too much food when I'm feeling really hungry, like she'd just tell me to gradually eat some crackers instead of a full meal because apparently if you eat too much food when you're hungry, your stomach is gonna be overwhelmed and will start hurting.
@@jiraisuzuya Where is your mom from? I never heard that wisdom. Anyways it reminds me of driving a gear car. Never go from 0 to 7 in 1 second. You have to gear up and down via 1, 2, 3 etc. 🤔
@@jiraisuzuya Sounds like good advice in terms of how when you're very hungry, you get the idea that you want All the Things, and therefore fill your plate with more than your stomach can handle. Like, I've been known to put together two cans of chunky soup, a salad, a sandwich, *and* a serving of pizza rolls and then regret it halfway through. Starting with a ritual like a few crackers or something allows your system to adjust to the idea of eating without going overboard, and gives it more time to register that food is coming and it can stop freaking out. Also I knew the re-feeding one! both from war history and from fanfiction. I've got a fic where Tony Stark has been on starvation-level rations for a long time and has to be reintroduced to food quite carefully. I've read one where a starving prisoner got rescued and had to be given food in portions of 100 to 250 kcals -- like a few bites of egg and some nuts or berries, maybe a small bite of a muffin and some sips of juice -- and in that one they had to get his stomach back to a certain level before he could even handle enough to *stop* losing weight and stabilize, let alone get to regaining the weight he needed to be healthy. I'm actually in the middle of writing one inspired by that starving prisoner one, and it's going to involve some of the same issues. All of which made me realize that when Tony Stark came back from Afghanistan and went straight for a cheeseburger, he likely regretted it *significantly* while he was in the bathroom later.
Great acting. I relly enjoy the Screwtape feel of it all. For anyone new to the Way: Scripture says Jesus fasted 40 days, and felt hunger again. If you fast, you stop feeling hungry after a few days. But when that comes back, you can be in an actual starvation state, nearing death. The Bread was trying to tempt Jesus to give in to His body. The Kingdoms are prophecied to be the inheritance to Jesus, who will rule over them all. Satan here is offering to give Jesus the Kingdoms, without having to suffer the excruciation and shame of the Crucifixion. We tend to focus on the physical pain of it, and forget just how demeaning and shameful crucifixion was. The right of capital punishment was taken away from the Jews by the Romans (except in rare cases), and symbolized their rule over what was supposed to be God's land. And, it was death by hanging on a tree, which the Old Law stated was a shame to the land. This was a temptation of Jesus' comfort. To avoid the pain and shame. Third, the Temple Jump. This isn't as ridiculous as it seems, and it isn't about intrusive thoughts. The Temple was always occupied, always. And here, Satan is telling Jesus to show who He was in an undeniable way. Caught up and saved by angels in the Temple where God Himself dwelt from agaes past? It woudl be explicit approval of God to Jesus, by sending the soldiers of heaven to save Him, making it an official command of God. In front of all the priests and people. So that none could gainsay who He was. This was a temptation of Jesus' pride. A careful reading of Scripture, in it's context, and a heart wholly committed to God will not falter. And when you do, run back into His arms, and try again. God Bless.
The temptations are actually kinda deeper than that Bread = Desire of the Flesh Kingdoms = Desire of the Eyes Suicide Stunt and Instant Stardom = Pride of Life
the reason satan tempted Jesus with the kingdoms and stuff is because it was under Satan's rule and Jesus could only get it back after thousands of years when the prophecies in revelation was fulfilled. Satan provided Jesus with a shortcut and this was probably the hardest temptation.
The kingdom of the world thing would have skipped the crucifixion, therefore skipping our salvation. Just a different perspective that makes me all the more grateful that He loves Me that much. ❤
What would have been funny is that Jesus fasting for 40 days may have left Him abit woozy and ended up laughing at Satan during each attempt before He locked in at the worshipping demand and called him out for it
Except... The kingdoms of the Earth were Satan's to give. Adam handed dominion of the Earth over to Satan with the Fall. Part of Jesus' mission was to reclaim it. Which happened with His resurrection.
This is hilarious, but I feel he did feel the fleshly desire for a minute, and its of comfort to know God contimplated suicide for a second, like he knew what he was going to endure , but these are just thoughts that came to me because I lost someone to suicide and its painful so I felt God comforted me in a way that he understands the human heart and brain
