Most fabulous bike of all times. It inspired the Ducatis. Great sound. Thank you to the owner for sharing the rarest and most expensive bike in the world ! Johann from Montréal, Canada.
Awesome bike. Truly an engineering masterpiece. If I had the money this would definitely be in my collection. I do hope this isn't the bike that was dropped in another video on here. It still wouldn't stop one bit from snatching this up.
I've preferred ducatis since many years...And owned a lot of them as well, but this bike (and the RC 30 as well) are just so perfect. So nice to see, the NR being maybe 5-8 years ahead of its time... Stunning.
Beautiful bike, beautiful sound. Icon of engineering at its best. Thanks for posting this. There is an NR750 for sale on Classic Rice Burners for £222,000
Grand Prix rules at the time required a configuration with maximum of 4 combustion chambers.Honda engineers therefore came up with the highly innovative solution of constructing a 'V8' engine in the form of a four cylinder. This was achieved by designing an oval piston that allowed a total of 8 valves per cylinder, and connecting 2 con-rods to each piston. the engine has 32 valves and eight con-rods incorporated into the dimensions of a regular 4 cylinder motorcycle engine
@retromurdok: I'm quite certain that this bike was actually (quite) a few steps above the Desmo for it's age. The amount of innovation it packed simply stomps a Desmo!
Like most Honda's, they are for bracing the mirrors, not ram intakes like most seems to think. They aren't big enough for that purpose, and you can see how they mount to the mirrors, where is the air coming in at?
Well, if you mean by production factory racing, yup they're sticking to the in-line 4 Fireblades. It seems unlikely they will race a production V4 again anytime soon, but in MotoGP the RC212V has a V4 powerplant which led to speculation that the next generation top Honda supersports bike would be a V4.
@Raven105X tru dat NR750 was tricked, but the desmo has the desmodromic valve system similar to a pneumatic valves engine, not the same but use for a similar effect at high RPM to close the valves quicker pretty snazzy if u ask me as both are used in moto gp.
I had meant "history" in regards to factory racing - I'm aware the V4 Interceptor is still in production. Or do they in fact plan to race a V4 again? Successor to the RC45? I did not know there was a next-gen VFR coming - I will have to take a look at that!
Completely correct BMS. However, the bike does not use true oval pistons. They look like a rectangular piston with 2 semi circular piston halves attached to either side. I recall this bike being priced at about CDN$20K, brand new. I believe it also has 2 spark plugs per cylinder, which fits in nicely with all the multiples of the other main parts.
The head engineer at Honda has gone on record saying the 1200 VFR is only the first of a whole new breed of bikes. They're going to put V4s in other bikes as well. It would make sense to put one in the WSBK bikes, would surely cream the competition with ease.
Great vid, it's the first time i've seen on of these bikes actually running. Any chance you can find a closed *cough* mile long straight and do a fly by flat out??
I like that bike, it was a dream in '92 and is a dram today. But this video was no really soundcheck. How is the sound at 12.000 rpm or near the limit?
Thanks for all the comments, I just have a busy life and I did post this because I thought there should be clip of a NR not being dropped.... As soon I return I will post another clip, but sorry there will be no wheelies.... :o)
So far, that speculation has only materialized as the new VFR1200 (for now) But who knows? If Honda is investing in the V4 in MotoGP, we might just see the V4 RC series get serious again :-) although im not sure where the Fireblade will go in their lineup if that happens. (btw aprilia has made their top bike a V4) cheers
what year did this come out and what was the cost at new? what's one of these worth now? i've only seen one of these in the barber's motorsports museum. pure sexyness on 2 wheels.
Not sure about overseas prices, but it was worth about $75,000 in late '91, with 93Kw and 223Kg. Pretty shit next to the race version of it(120Kw and 150Kg). I still think it is beautiful though.
Only Honda has the technology and money to make them work properly, the trick is to let them run at the same rate. Thats why it took 3 year before it came on the market.
Oval piston = wider cylinder chamber = room for additional valves in the head. In this case, 8 per cylinder. Unfortunately, this is probably the last in line for the oval cylinder bikes from Honda, unless they decide to try it with a V-Twin. The V4's are history, unfortunately.
Yes, I know that damm 1st gear, sometimes its completely quiet and other times it sounds like the the whole gearbox will fall apart. I apologize for that. Cheers
How about instead of just looking at a video, why not do a search on the internet. For instance; "NR750 tyga" in google images produces several images, both illustrated cutaway, and a partially torn down bike, that it is in fact for the mirror stay bracket. I own a 99 CBR900rr, as it, and most Hondas of late, there are mirror stay brackets. Buell's XBRR is the pergect example of what functional intakes look like.
not in a straight line, but like most sportbikes, it would kill it in the corners. you have to remember that while this bike is very advanced, it's rather old now and it's performance would be low compared to today's stuff.
totally stock! look the bike up on google... this wasa once in a lifetime bike in '92... not many around because of the oval pistons and electronics... very rare bike indeed this one is mint
If you guys don't like this video, instead of bitching, why don't you go find another video on RUclips of a HONDA NR 750 doing wheelies and burnouts ? Oh, maybe it's because there is no other video !
The V4s are not history. Honda is coming up with a new V4 VFR next year... its already in production and testing. But yeah, oval piston perhaps never again.
Honda restricted the NR to 100bhp - probably because they didn't trust their sardine tin pistons!! What a waste. When he was walking away, I half expected someone to jump out of the bushes and nick it!!
but now days they have bikes better than this obviously... i mean when i say that as in like... top speed and handeling.... y did they stop building oval cylinder bikes?
Ducati's are nice, but since when do they have a piston with dual conrods, and 8 valves?? effectivly this is a V8 motorcycle. hondas most over engineered monster,, but because of this it was its downfall..
always loved the NR750. remember having the toy when i was 6 and always playing with it. Your one lucky bloke.
Most fabulous bike of all times. It inspired the Ducatis. Great sound. Thank you to the owner for sharing the rarest and most expensive bike in the world ! Johann from Montréal, Canada.
Всем привет из 2023 года!) После 2015 года ни одного нового комментария, я буду первым;)

That sound very.... different.
Guess getting after market exhausts on there is out of the question :P
Glad to know they are being ridden!
Keep it up!
Yes, thanks to your tip I discovered the info about the new VFR1200. That bike looks amazing! I've already added it to my wish list :)
RC30 & RC40 are both AMAZING machines!!!
i wish you enjoy thousands of kilometres with this piece of art

That sound brings a tear to me eye....
people who dont know OVAL PISTONS, 32 valves, 2 con rods per piston. its the Desmosidici for Honda and its from the 90's and still kicks ass
i'm in the process of rebuilding a 92 cbr600 with a nt650 hawk gt swingarm and a 93 vfr 8 spoke rear rim. my favorite sportbike is the cbr600 92-98

one of my favorite honda bike that i'll never be able to afford, rc45 is second. i'm glad that honda made the rc51 affordable. i'll never sell mine.
Hi Johann, thanks for your comment and you´re welcome - there is more to come soon....
I had meant "history" in regards to factory racing - I'm aware the V4 Interceptor is still in production. Or do they in fact plan to race a V4 again? Successor to the RC45?
I did not know there was a next-gen VFR coming - I will have to take a look at that!
Hi Garry, thanks for your kind comment, yes you´re right maybe I should have edited it...
cheers, Chris
Completely correct BMS.

Looks good for 1992, only reason why it looks older are the headlights in my opinion.
thanks for the vids a stunning bike health to enjoy
They say the toughest engineering challenge was creating oval piston rings that sealed properly

i love this awesome bike more videos !!!
Thanks for your comment Billybadass, dont worry I´ll post new clips with wide open throttle soon....
it has very sweet sound.
what makes this bike so nice, like im new to streetbikes like compared to todays hondas and suzukis how does this fair?
but this is getting on for 20 years old!!!!!
I believe this bike came out in 1992 and I think it was somewhere in the $60,000USD range.
Thanks, I was worried to, but this area was pretty save and the camera very small well hidden....
Great vid, it's the first time i've seen on of these bikes actually running. Any chance you can find a closed *cough* mile long straight and do a fly by flat out??

@mcarp26
32 valve, V4 oval piston... USD forks (which were rare at the time) the list goes on...

Great vid, next time hows about taking the camera with you? lol

Respect!!

would be so scared to ride it!
oh gee ... you pushed the limits on that baby didnt you! lol
@maxmodeller
They restricted it because it´s an endurance racer, for longer lasting
lol, like a dirty bike scratchin' ninja!! That's craking me up
LINDA ...LINDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow 10mph fly by great
it`s a legend
2:07
What you hear is what you get...
I would sell it and buy a new one for sure.
Look at the future forget the past, it's all that never last !!
Yes you heard right, sorry, I didn´t engage the first gear cleanly, my apologies...
the carbon fibre ram air scoop/braces ruin it. are they stock?
Oval piston = wider cylinder chamber = room for additional valves in the head. In this case, 8 per cylinder.

The best
New rider, what do u mean?
Yes, I know that damm 1st gear, sometimes its completely quiet and other times it sounds like the the whole gearbox will fall apart. I apologize for that. Cheers
because they where made in a limited edition
you think it whip a busa?
what makes it soo expensive?
эхх как-бы хотелось купить такой байк!
Oval pistons, 2 connecting rods per piston, 8 valves per cylinder, supposedly V8 performance in a V4 package.
Agree, 888SP is a nice bike but its to expensive for me.
有沒有要賣
c'mon give it some stink! edit out the gaps! I'm jealous!
Great machine, and thanks for posting it, but... you may want to cut off the times when NOTHING's happening...
@robbocbr how old are classing as clasasic?
How about instead of just looking at a video, why not do a search on the internet. please, make onboard video accelerating at full throtle...
not in a straight line, but like most sportbikes, it would kill it in the corners. you have to remember that while this bike is very advanced, it's rather old now and it's performance would be low compared to today's stuff.
whats so great about this bike?????
you could fit a chinese family behind those fairings
totally stock! look the bike up on google... this wasa once in a lifetime bike in '92... not many around because of the oval pistons and electronics... very rare bike indeed this one is mint
next time i see someone do that, i'mstealing his cam
wow
i hate these people dissing the nr750 without knowing the facts
holy sht!!!
i agree!
If you guys don't like this video, instead of bitching, why don't you go find another video on RUclips of a HONDA NR 750 doing wheelies and burnouts ? Oh, maybe it's because there is no other video !
LOL. Look RIGHT under the mirrors. They ARE intake tubes. I'm sure you're a Honda engineer huh?
wow never seen this bike :S
台灣竟然有 RC40???
The V4s are not history. Honda is coming up with a new V4 VFR next year... its already in production and testing. But yeah, oval piston perhaps never again.
if you cant find it grind it
Each bike cost them something like £38,000 to build but they sold them for £37,000. They lost ~£1000 GBP on each bike that they sold.
Honda restricted the NR to 100bhp - probably because they didn't trust their sardine tin pistons!! What a waste.
When he was walking away, I half expected someone to jump out of the bushes and nick it!!
@jactim
LOl thats stupid... might as well sell it for 39000pound
but now days they have bikes better than this obviously... i mean when i say that as in like... top speed and handeling....
y did they stop building oval cylinder bikes?
as this boy not even got a friend to hold the camera ???
Loris Capirosi andubo a 307 km/h en esa moto.
I'd hate to have to buy new valves for this thing :\
A billion yen? So what, $50 USD?
i would laugh if his camera got stolen
some 1 should have stole his camera
haha....I think a lot of bikes will rape this at the track hehe....but it looks cool :)
No surely not...
Ducati's are nice, but since when do they have a piston with dual conrods, and 8 valves?? effectivly this is a V8 motorcycle. hondas most over engineered monster,, but because of this it was its downfall..
Esse cara nunca acelera essa moto? Aff...
@mcarp26 learn math and then youll know
