Omg this is so weird…anyone else???

  • I wasn’t going to share (the pics disturb me) but thought that if anyone else out there has had mystery hives after a workout…then maybe this would be helpful.
    I freaked out the first time it happened and I freaked out again today. The reason why it wasn’t as bad this time was because I ate 5 shrimp instead of 10 and stopped 20 min into my run instead of 30 min into it. Big props to Sam who told me to look at my food log from Jan 15. He somehow had a hunch it was the shrimp…
    My body continues to surprise me. I guess I’m just going to skip out on shrimp entirely. If this is visibly happening after a run, what non-visible things are ACTUALLY happening under the surface? I don’t know but it doesn’t seem good.
    I’m going to re-evaluate my diet and begin seriously logging again and paying closer attention to any reactions this week. I think my body has evolved and my diet needs to too.
    Anyone else experience this? It’s super rare according to studies. I had never heard of it.
    So weird…allergic to shrimp and running. Who would have thought???
    ♥️Cassey

So sweating from the summer heat doesn't apply that much. I have to take allergies pills everytime I plan on going out, even for short walks. Light exercise does cause me to break out into hives. Yeah a running induced allergy, usually happens when people eat something that typically never triggers a reaction. I was recommended to take a benadryl if I plan on eating the thing that triggers these reactions before I run. Do you have a EoE and IgE reaction to shellfish? It is a bit different than the running induced flare up.

    Might have also been the kombucha! Kombucha is high in histamines and if you have HIT (Histamine Intolerance), it can worsen/increase the histamine response in your body.

    Yes! I have "exercise induced anaphylaxis", which quite literally means I'm allergic to exercise (no food required). Repetitive exercises (even just walking) cause an allergic reaction in me, some days far worse than others. It varies so much, so I can't predict it.
    It's so crazy to see you mention this though, and that you have the shrimp induced version! It's not truly cool, but it's cool to see you mention it .. I hope that makes sense haha ☺️

      I have Wheat and exercise. Its called a cross-allergy. I was studied by dermatologists in Denmark, and eventhough we were 30 people with the same cross-allergy, some og us had others triggers, that could trigger hives (eg alcohol, asperin…)

    • @llseandart
      @llseandart 2 года назад +1

      It probably has to do with histamine levels. On an allergic reaction your body produces a chemical called histamine. However this chemical can also be triggered by alcohol, some NSAIDS and for instance exercise. So some people tend to have bigger allergic reactions when they exercise after being exposed to their trigger.

I in an allergy desensitization program and when it is time to test if I am still allergic to a good I am required to eat it then exercise to see if it will induce a reaction. I used to break out in hives on my legs when I went outside in the summer. I didn’t think I had allergies cuz I didn’t have the stereotypical symptoms. I finally went to an allergist and apparently I’m SUPER allergic to tree pollen and mildly allergic to mold and grass pollen. After being prescribed some allergy medications I realized my nose was always stuffed and I had constant phlegm!
      I also used to have random symptoms of anaphylaxis when eating food. Since my body’s immune system was always in hyper drive it would sometimes overreact to slight irritation. I was also told my allergy to fruit was caused by the presence of pollen on the skin of the fruit!
      Long story short, go to the allergist because it is REALLY hard to pinpoint where your allergy symptoms are coming from without a definitive test.

    Omg, I think I might have this. I ate shrimp and was hiking up a mountain. I had to take some of my emergency allergy meds, but I didnt understand where it came from, as I didnt eat any pineapple and wasnt anywhere near any sort of wild bromeliad plant. I think you just solved the case. I was so baffled why I suddenly broke out in hives and couldnt beath right.

    Took medicines and got relieved the day after.
    Idk what happened cuz none of my other family members got any reaction to mushrooms and i ain't even allergic 🤷

    I had the same problem at school. I ate shrimp for lunch and decided to go outside to play volleyball. I came back in and my whole face was in hives and itchy. I went to the bathroom and washed my face. There was another girl in the bathroom who helped me a bit. I thought it was just dirt on my face or something. Turns out it was shrimp + exercise 💀

    • @jauxro
      @jauxro 2 года назад +16

      Some people, when they hear that you "don't eat something" _do_ judge and will sneak the item into your food because they think you're being stuck-up and want you to admit you like it 🙃 which is. A great way to make someone dangerously sick.

      @@user-oq9zx7kv8x Hm? She ends the video with "just a reminder that you cannot judge someone by what they eat". I think it wasn't the most relevant end to her video, but she probably brought it up because people judge in general and dietary restrictions exist for a reason.

    My mom had this thing where in the mornings she couldn’t eat and then have a walk, but it was only in the mornings. If she did eat and then have a walk in the morning she would break out and start vomiting violently. So when she would walk me and my brother to school each morning, she wouldn’t eat until she got home, which was at about 9:00 in the morning. Also if it was cold and she had a walk. She would get the same reaction. So she always wore something really warm when she went out
