seems like the longer i’m on this earth i find out more shit about my body that wants to go wrong the older i get. stuff you would never think would go wrong..
Yes, we hear this all the time. Ignorance is bliss. Once you know more about the body, the more you learn can be wrong or is wrong with you. Honestly, unless it hurts or is sore, anomalies are normal.
Sometimes, the thyroid cartilage feels chilled. It feels like it is actually cold, and the cartilage will pop and crack when I touch it, but only when it feels like the area is freezing. It can do this at any time, including in summer, and is independent of consuming cold food or drinks it can happen on days when cold food and drinks weren't even consumed.
It’s hard to tell without actually palpating the front of the neck. Sometimes we can have very tight front neck muscles and fascia. Cold will also tighten tissues up.
Thank you. Sorry for bothering just one more question. Do you have any suggestion how to mobilize this muscle. Its really tricky one, as even with neck collar it moves when I move hands and scapula and even gets more pulled and tensed, I'd say that schanz collar even makes it worse... Any ideas if shoulder or clavicle bone braces or anything similar would work to stop this muscle from moving... Or I need to mumify myself completely 😂. Any movement makes pain horrible and it's so hard for this muscle not to move. Thanks a lot once more
It sounds like you're dealing with a challenging situation regarding muscle movement and associated pain. While we can provide general suggestions, it's important to remember that personalized medical advice should come from a healthcare professional who understands your specific condition. Here are some general ideas that might help: 1. **Consult a Physical Therapist or Orthopedist:** 2. **Custom Orthotics or Braces:** Sometimes, standard braces don't provide the necessary support or immobilization. A custom brace or orthotic, designed specifically for your body and condition, might be more effective. 3. **Gentle Stretching and Strengthening:** With guidance from a therapist, gentle exercises tailored to your condition might help strengthen the surrounding muscles and reduce the load on the affected muscle. 4. **Posture and Ergonomics:** Evaluate your daily activities and posture, as these can impact muscle strain. Small adjustments in how you sit, stand, or move might reduce the tension on the muscle. 5. **Alternative Therapies:** Techniques such as massage therapy, acupuncture, or myofascial release might offer some relief, but always consult with a healthcare professional before trying new treatments. 6. **Relaxation Techniques:** Sometimes, muscle tension can be exacerbated by stress or anxiety. Techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or gentle yoga can help manage stress and might indirectly relieve muscle tension. 7. **Heat or Cold Therapy:** Depending on what feels more comfortable, applying heat or cold to the area might provide temporary relief. Remember, these are general suggestions and should not replace professional medical advice. It's crucial to consult with healthcare providers who can give you specific recommendations based on your medical history and current condition.
What kind of doctor do I need to visit for omohyoid muscle? Coz I'm very sure I strained this one doing some stupid shit... I feel like most doctors haven't even heard of it and have no idea how to palpate it
Thanks! So an average physiotherapist or physiatrist should be aware and know how to palpate these muscles? I don't need some special super expert on this? 😅. I feel like doctors here only know about scalenes and those anterior muscles, not much about deep ones 😂.
Well average, basic education teach this but people end up forgetting if they don't practice palpating them. So it will be a bit trial and error. And yeah medical doctors' education don't go in detail about these.
I feel this bony lump towards the side of my neck. Is this a part of my hyoid? I can follow it to the front of my hyoid but I’m not sure if this is something to be concerned about like a lymph node.
Hi, i've recently been dealing with tight hyoid muscles and an almost numb feeling too. There were 2 occasions where i felt the muscles in this area softly pop or move and ever since then i have had this tightness around my neck, and the tightness gets worse and travels into my face when i try to palpate. Do you know what this could be? Also, when the first "move" happened, i was scared i tore soemthing so i sstarted adjusting my posture to excessive forward head posture and less usage of my left arm and muscles on the left side of my head.
Hii I am actually experiencing weird sounds and having a lump like thing just under the ear close to the jaw. It is disturbing by usual jaw movements and i think it is due to one of these hyoid muscles. I have undergone ultrasound scans and doctors said everything seemed normal, but I don’t feel normal while chewing and yawning. Can you suggest what kind of therapist should I consult?
Omohyoid can be tight for multiple reasons but often the two are related to a head forward posture as that tightens up the hyoid muscles and pulls the mandible into retraction / depression. The second is scapular reasons. Lots of forceful elevation of the scapula with the head strained forward can tighten it.
It might potentially fracture the hyoid bone, puncture the esophagus maybe. Depends on how strong you press but we recommend you to be very careful and work with your patient. It is already a sensitive area to begin with, you don't wanna cause stress to the patient, it will make it difficult to work on that area. They need to as relaxed as possible.
@@blackriverbootsmaeducationUnknowingly,I applied too much pressure, I feel some throat tightness and pain in the throat Will the pain resolve on it's own?
Oh yeah, if it was serious enough, you wouldn't be able to sit still. You will be alright. You probably caused some contusion. Time will heal it, try to take it easy for a while.
Nope, it should be alright. Just palpate/examine the way it is shown in the video. However, if you are really concern this much, a doctor should take a look at it, a physical examination would be much better.

When I try to touch that and massage as in very soft I get muscles tightness specially my tongue becomes very tightened, my tongue thrust. I also have clicking sound in that area when I swallow specially when I gulp water. Even when I swallow unconsciously it cmakes a clicking or knuckle’s sound that I can only hear split second. I already have muscles pulling in the SCM area I dunno if scm, I cant cough continuesly because of that clicking, I try to control my yawn, my talking becomes tiring times too. It's not caused by illness or cold temperatures.

I would start with a Physiotherapist and/or Registered Massage Therapist and go from there..

Hard to tell since I don't know your physician. They might be really good. As I said, it really depends on the professional.

My hyoid bone aches me.. should I be worried?
It is most likely not the bone but more possibly the neck muscle tissue around it or that attaches to the hyoid.
Where are you located please. I have so much sharp pain under jaw, throat area. Would love to chat. Thank you
