I would love to see more Jamaican restaurants or food places. Seriously!!! (Ps I’m white AF) but my husband and I love trying food of different cultures. :)
I agree he either Hollywood or up beat just cook my guy I know Americans are against oil but that was way less oil to fry the ackee for the flavour to penetrate it the the callaloo was not cooked right its just wrong it needs to be cooked until it the stems are translucent bro Americanized our cusine I'm Jamaican bro
One night I had a Jamaican girl over at my place asking me (a trini) to make this dish for her. I was like, “girl, if you don’t eat this fried bake and cheese” 🤣
Caribbean food is the best. Best spices, best flavors, great for your health. We got to come together and promote and protect our dishes, sauces etc because a lot of people are stealing our stuff. They stealing our food, our music, our dance and making big money. The governments need to get patent from united nations to protect our creativity. Jamaica did get a patent from UN to protect Reggae music. We got to do it for everything because all they doing now is stealing from the Caribbean.
@@Stewy-xw9fz Yeh, which is why Trini food is the worst in my opinion to all Caribbean food and I am Trini. I don't think we even have healthy meals lol.
@@marchfifth1754 Roti is good. Doesn't Trinidad have Callaloo and steam fish? Aren't some of the meals in Trinidad similar to Jamaica and other Caribbean islands?
I had a Jamaican guy come up when I worked the fish department in the grocery store... Sniffed, looked at the woman next in line and said 'mmm, smells familiah' I had to go in the back to stop laughing.
I'm in Jamaica right now and seeing this... Bwoy wata a come a mi yeye and mi mouth lol 😌🤤... Mi love it! Bless up yuhself Chef 🙏🏽🙏🏽... You represented...🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Weh me love do.. split open the bumplin n sandwich it with the ackee n callaloo n mek the gravy from the callaloo run off me mouth corna🤣..hmm delicious i tell u
If you guys haven't tried this yet do yourself a favor and do it! It's also very easy to make vegan as well . Just don't do the salt fish and sauteed more veggies into it like onions and pepper. It's how my mom always did it because she didn't like the salt fish in hers.
This looks delicious and I love Andre as a host. So great to learn about the recipes my aunts and uncles made growing up (but i had no idea how much work went into it).
Good job Chef! Yes sir Rockhouse Hotel Breakfast is absolutely off the chain! Only thing missing is their warm banana bread on the side and Blue Mountain Coffee.
Perfect Vegan Breakfast: Johnny Cakes, fried sweet plantain, steam Callaloo, Ackee stir fried with scotch bonnet peppers, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, fresh thyme and no salt fish.
It’s funny how we in the tropics change the ingredients to what’s available around us, but the basic principles are the same. I mean, that looks more like lunch than breakfast to me, but it’s still very recognisable.
Miss Dor's daughter in Brazil, breakfast means coffee, a sandwich, fresh fruit, and maybe some biscuits/cake/pastry. Anything savoury and eaten with a knife and fork is lunch to us. But what I meant is that the plate still looks familiar.
@@1981cherokee1 depends on where. I live in a small town in Nagasaki. No J'can restaurants here. But I went to Okinawa some time ago and went to a "J'can" restaurant. It was less than ok but it wasn't bad.
Thank you for showing how this dish is really made cause I saw some non Jamaican dude do this with damn tilapia, egg and a banana and I just knew he was lying... 😂
Damn this looks amazing. I have a problem with calalloo though. I could easily forget about everything else and just have a big bowl of that. Which has happened before.
Wow it's rare to see Jamaican food here. Please make more food from different culture, I really enjoyed it
This series is actually quite diverse. It's probably the best thing Vice has going right now tbh
