Have watched Martin Clunes in so many of his rolls (Men Behaving Badly, William and Mary, Doc Martin, etc.) and love his vibe on and off screen. Watched his "Islands of America" too. I was born in the Mid-Atlantic and have lived most of my life in New England. I thought I knew America. It wasn't until I went on a 3 month camping trip across the US that I began to get a real flavor of our country. It is vast, varied, and so wonderful; the good and the bad. It is who we are, through our parents, grandparents and beyond. Yes, we may have come from other places but but we are HERE and we flavor here and enrich here. I could have spent 10 years on that camping trip and still not have gotten all the flavors that America has in her heart. My late husband said "Anyone who wants to be President of the United States needs to take a long journey by car north and south, east and west across our nation. Stop in the cities and towns, shop in their markets, watch the farmers, ranchers, everyday folks doing their "thing". Only then will they get what America is, and what being an American means.
we love martin....loved the horses swimming.. loved it all... when you come back to the interior of usa... youll find wild horses roundups all across america.. doc johnny sicily
avery island.. i worked in new iberia when i was in my 20s with oil companies.. drove past the tabasco plant every day..almost killed me...ahaha ive traveled to 200 countries and territories.. i shoulda filmed something ahahah
I fell out with Doc martins character due to the dog hating . But love that Martin is the opposite and holds a place in his heart for animals. It could only been difficult to portray a anti dog lover.. what's not to love? Well done in this series !
Met Martin when he came to Sark a few years back. Lovely chap and he loved Sark too, though everyone does. Best place on earth.
