I ordered pretty much everything you listed in your 12 needed changes video. I could not find the diffuser plate. I found one on Amazon. I need to make some handles for my rods and its time for some testing......Thanks!
Kevin!! That’s awesome!! I’d love to see what you do. This is a community channel for @thisgrilllife on Twitter. You’re always welcome to post your videos on here.
Thanks for posting this. How did you get yours to smoke so much. I just got my austin xl and I'm very disappointed with the amount of smoke and smoke flavor so far. Any tips on getting more smoke flavor from this thing?
I haven’t done anything to increase the amount of smoke. I have used a smoke tube with the smoker for more smoke flavor. The only thing I can think of is the brand/type of pellets might be making the difference
@@thisgrilllife7447 just got done adding the fire seal to my austin. I am trying a smoke tube tonight. If I you don't mind me asking. Which pellets have you found to give you the most flavor?
Doing well, thank you. The gaskets have really held up well and performed as I hoped. They really control the smoke loss for me. Haven’t needed to do any additional sealing.
David!! That’s a great question. It never occurred to me to do it on the barrel rather than the lid. Do you think there would be a benefit doing it that way?
@@thisgrilllife7447 Not sure. I just purchased my grill yesterday and haven't completed the burn-off yet. I'll keep you posted once i get some cooking time in on the grill. Thank you for your video.
@@thisgrilllife7447 So while I was doing the burn-off of the new grill I did note a lot of smoke escaping around the lid so I went ahead and ordered some of the Lava Lock gasket material. After watching your video and a couple of others I decided to place the gasket on the lid like you did, it just seemed to make the most sense. With the gasket on the lid it is out of the way when the lid is open so nothing gets spilled or dripped on it and it doesn't get caught on anything. After I let the gasket cure for 24 hours, as suggested by Lava Lock, I fired up the grill again. Still a small amount of smoke escaping but nothing like before. Thanks again for your video.
That's an awesome modification👍
That magnet is a great idea

@@double2706 I’ve had good luck with pit Boss Competition Blend. Great flavor and you can usually get a 40 lb bag at Walmart for about 15-16 dollars
Greetings, I hope you are doing well, how is the gasket so far and what additional recommendations you have to seal the grill

What made you decide to place the insulation strips on the door vs. around the edges of the door opening?
