    Cheers from the void! Glad to know Pipewire isn't too complicated to setup. I've been using a mix of pulseaudio and alsa for as long as I can remember, so this might be the final step that pushes me to try it out

      It's ok, it works well, I don't think i would have switched if I didn't have the hyprland setup, pulseaudio was working great for me. That being said it is fun to try new things.

    I just used your video to install pipewire. Starting from the base ISO. You need to install pulseaudio to get the config file to edit. You can remove pulseaudio and the config remains on the drive.
    Thanks for another great video.

    This was really helpful for the last piece of the puzzle for me, I needed to have pulseaudio installed to get the config files, but when I removed the package the config files went away too. Thanks!

Saludos.

    Not sure what the equivalent for wayland is, but for those running Xorg stuff you can use the xinit file to start the pipewire, wireplumber, and the alsa/ pulse equivalents across any desktop environment/ window manager. Nice to not have to remember to add it to your DE/ WMs specific conf if you switch a lot. Void is great though and ive had zero problems based on the handbook install guide.

    Nice, thank you very much! I'm always glad when Void Linux gets some love.
    Would you ever do a video of 'Void-mklife'? With these scripts you can create your own Void iso. Since you (and me as well) are on a Wayland compositor there should be some perks tonget it running. Maybe this is Something that you are interested in too.
    Thanks again for your tutorials, they are super good!❤

    If you can please try these steps in a clean base install, some steps will be missing and it won't work as flawlessly as it did with you.
    I almost gave up on void because the instructions ln the handbook are confusing, and the change from pipewire-media-session to wireplumber has rendered most of the info in the forums online obsolete!

    Great video - almost got into pipewire when I couldn't get sound working on two machines. Question: I've looked on your github page but can't seem to find the files needed (or tutorial) to add the void symbol and ~ >> to the prompt. Is it simple?

    • @JakeLinux
      @JakeLinux  5 месяцев назад +1

      It is simple to add them, just make sure you have nerd fonts (icons) installed. The chevrons and void logo can be found on the nerd font cheet sheet webpage. Then just add them to your PS1 variable in your .bashrc. or if you have them installed already and want to, you can just copy my PS1 from my .bashrc in my bash git repo.
