I remember this day, 9000's reverser mechanism (the big part that functions like a giant air-powered light switch) became stuck in one position. While this failure prevented the unit from moving it was a relatively minor repair, another volunteer locomotive mechanic was able to come out later in the day and resolve the issue by lubricating and freeing up the air side of the reverser, and 9000 was running under her own power again before darkness fell.
