I know i lurk more than post in your group. But it is the one place that i know i can go check every day and smile. I left fb for years because of the cruelty, got back on only when i picked dp back up. I think people forget we are all humans with all the feels and everyone deserves common respect. Nothing is black and white. Thank you for spreading kindness. You give so much to the community. So happy you are getting surgery and hope it goes well 🙂

As someone who is older and has "lived" and suffered loss of a child, job - due to health reasons, and overall quality of life from what I once had I'm more "intune" today more than ever with my happiness and pick and choose from this hobby those things that strike those good emotional boxes for me. I feel that there are a lot of individuals in today's society with a sense of entitlement in thinking they have the ability to form and voice opinions on things:
1. That they know nothing about and/or is NONE of their business.
2. That they feel they need to have an opinion and or take a side in whatever conflict is happening (despite not having all the facts) and expect others to do the same sometimes to the point of bullying.
Unfortunately, who knew "high-school behaviour would continue into the adult years because we have some "bad apples" in the world?
The difference now is we don't have to have relationships, or have them in our personal space. We don't need to justify our thoughts to anyone and can have clear, concise boundaries that protect our mental health. There is a whole bigger picture in this world that so many people are missing - It is called LIFE! Living and not wasting precious time and energy on things that don't serve us. ❤

Thank you!❤ Very well said. I actually have not been involved in social media for this exact reason... "bullying, rudness and disrespect". I only started FB when I started DP last November. In 9 months I've had more than my fill. Like Alysa... I'm empathic too.... an I feel nauseated, get migraines, and vomit when I take on emotions and conflict of others. I was surprised at how much some FB groups feel like highschool all over again! Seriously... aren't we adults??? Yes...let's just enjoy actually living life.❤

I've been subscribed for a few months. I appreciate your frustrations and am proud of you creating boundaries. The phrase I learned and try to live is "don't allow yourself to be pulled into the drama". Though it is easier said than done. Positive thoughts coming your way!!!

I totally agree with not taking a position on something like this. This is up to lawyers, mediators or courts to resolve. If it was clear cut there would probably already be a resolution. Take care of yourself and I wish you a speedy recovery!

I’m so sorry you’ve been feeling so poorly. I can’t imagine living in the pain and anxiety and all the medical issues that you have to deal with every day, and then going on and doing so much for your channel and your amazing FB group.
I don’t think you should have felt forced to speak on this subject, but at the same time I appreciate hearing what you had to say: especially how no one can really know what’s going on except the people in it, and it’s best to stay out of conflicts if they don’t involve you. Hearing your passion has been inspiring to me and I do appreciate hearing your thoughts and opinions. I would have respected you regardless if you spoke on this today or if you decided not to. You do have so much more important things going on that you don’t need this added stress
Keep taking care of yourself. You and your health are more important than anything else and especially anyone else’s drama.

There really is a lot of conflict in the diamond painting community. It's truly sad. I, too, am an empath. When I see the conflicts, I struggle between stepping in and trying to help stop it and stepping away because I know how it will affect me. When I see it, I tend to catch myself shutting down and stepping away from the social media that's involved.
I agree. You and your mods do an amazing job keeping your space safe and peaceful.
I respect you completely for not getting involved in all the conflict. You shouldn't have to get involved and make any statements on them.
You are an amazingly strong person with everything you live with and i am very thankful for all the love and positivity you put into this crafting community!
I definitely recommend trying Patsy Putty it has been one of the only putties I have had good success with all around. Another one is Cats Diamond Painting UK. Thank you for the prayers! I agree there is always some time of conflict going on. My husband said what do you expect when you have a hobby with mostly women, especially those staying at home for one reason or another. I used to always step in to try and calm conflict down but that usually doesn't end well either so I have learned to step back most of the time unless I see harm coming about or abusive language, bullying, etc then I may stand up. It is very easy for me at least to be affected by conflict and it really ruins my diamond painting experience for me. I am glad you feel my space stays a safe one I am really happy to hear that we try really hard. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!
I watched this video after seeing that your surgery went well and I'm very happy about that! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Such profound words, and I completely relate. Though I don't have your horrible health issues (I'm so sorry about those), I do suffer from anxiety and depression. Fortunately, meds work brilliantly for me, but conflicts such as what you describe do tend to trigger me and put me in a bad place. I think being an empath, like we both are, has both benefits and curses. I love that it makes us care deeply about people, their feelings, and their well-being (I'm also a nurse), but another person's pain, emotional or physical, manifests in our bodies and minds in ways that can be pretty darned horrible. I feel things deeply in my gut, and have to fight off nausea and vomiting when someone else is hurting. I can do that fairly successfully in my nursing career, but have no't mastered the art of not letting friends' and families' pain become my own pain. Though I'm American, I recently joined your Facebook group and love the positive atmosphere. Being pretty shy, I haven't contributed yet, but will as soon as I feel brave enough to post. I am aware of the drama discussed, and I also choose not to form an opinion, mostly because I don't know anything about copyright law. I want the best for the artist and also the company, and hope things are settled amicably. Lastly, I'm glad you are here. Love your videos and your caring, friendly, and calming presence.
I suppose alot of nurses are empaths. hello fellow nurse :) anxiety and depression are also just as big in terms of conditions that can affect us. You are very right as a nurse I am good at turning that off but not as a human in daily life. Thanks for joining our little fb group. I have listened to the two chats that explain HL's views on everything, and truthfully, what upsets me is not who is right or wrong, but that HL is getting the public involved. Like you said, we don't understand contracts and such. I am just a hobbyist, and enjoy diamond painting, or did. The other night (also had a conflict with a small shop recently, but it's resolved--thankfully), I am getting upset about all this when I paint. I used to paint, and turn on youtube, and just have it on in the background, and now all it is, is HL is right, DAC is wrong, and with all the other junk going on in the world, I was ready to pick up my paintings and put them away, and do another hobby. My friends that are in dp just go out and buy a picture and do it, and aren't into all the online stuff, and that is where I wish I was now. Problem is, can I turn it all off at this point.....I don't know. I have four HL's to do here, and I am asking myself if I should de-stash them, even though I love them, but I am afraid at this point, they might just make me depressed. I think her and the company need to settle this themselves, and not bring the whole world into it.
I have to agree with you. I understand why she felt she needed to bring it public but I worry that will hurt her in the long run. I don’t think a court system would take that as a positive. It also causes people to feel they must pick a side which is so unfair, we just want to diamond paint good quality products from wherever we want to shop from and no one should be made to feel bad for doing so. Please don’t let the conflicts out there ruin the hobby for you. I’ve decided to destash a few of my Hannah Lynn’s too I just will not enjoy them as much anymore and I need to focus my energy on the positive aspects of our hobby. When you feel overwhelmed take a deep breathe, push away all those ruminating thoughts about quitting and remind yourself that you are a strong woman who won’t let anyone take your love for the hobby away. Please know you are always welcome in my space.

I really appreciate your stance on the conflict. It’s the same as mine. I’m not a professional. And what isn’t moral may not be illegal. I have no idea either. I have actually unsubscribed to some channels because it’s just drama. Some people thrive on drama and conflict. Not me. I’m also an empath and I’ve finally learned to remove anything that causes me stress because it’ll take me down a dark path. I talked on my channel about NO DRAMA. I don’t like it and I don’t want it. Like the saying goes in regards to drama - you either created it or invited it in. So I choose to not allow it in my head space. And that is YOUR right as a content creator. And I respect that. Keep being you. The right people love you for it!

Some of the things you are going through... I have/am too. I have had Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since age 9, debilitating migraines since puberty, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis since my 20's, Arthritis beginning to interfere with mobility in my 30's. I have lost friends, a husband, a home, and a career in the medical field because of FM/CFS. I have had no support from immediate family as they believe it's all in my head. All my progress has been at my own hand and hard won. And I do what is necessary every single day to ensure my progress.
Like you, I am also empathic and take on the emotions of others. Avoiding conflict is a big thing for me. I feel nauseous, get migraines, and vomit when I take on others emotions. I've also worked hard and long with an energetic practitioner (BodyTalk) to heal from various emotional traumas... and this has helped to dial down my empathic absorption.
I've heard you mention in many of your videos that you want to know about your listeners/watchers. Having you be vulnerable has allowed me to be as well.... so thank you. I have also..... often layed curled up in bed crying..... you are not alone.

Bless you…I totally understand how you feel 🥺. I hate conflict so much it makes me want to hide away from everyone and everything. As like yourself I have a myriad of health conditions that leave me in constant pain and it’s so hard living every day. Diamond painting helps me to keep going each day as it helps me to kinda live in a different world (if that makes sense).
I’ll be praying that you have a successful surgery & that it helps stop at least some of the pain that you have. I really wish it would take away all of your pain as being in pain 24/7 is so draining and really taxes not only your body physically but mentally also.
I’ve had to have multiple surgeries in the last few years two of them being the amputation of both legs, and it was frightening as I’m also classed as ‘high risk’. But your team of surgeons, doctors & nurses will take good care of you & get you through this 💖.
I don’t very often post comments as I’m always afraid that I will say the wrong thing & will make people mad at me, but when I saw your video today it made me hurt that you were hurting & I wanted you to know that I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts & prayers 🙏🏻.

My tbi is a work injury. Its so true about how dark it gets. Im in the middle of it and its so hard to see the end. Diamond painting lets me switch off with minimal energy.
I was so depressed and honestly suicidal during the fight with insurance and my injury. Don’t give up keep fighting to the end. As long as the medical is there you should come out on top. It’s so sad that they make people who are actually injured fight for their life!

I am not a lawyer and do not know the legalities so I will leave it up to them to figure out. I, too, stay out of the drama, just lurk in the background. I went to a retreat yesterday for the first time, and I'm just like, it's diamond painting! Woah! I completely agree with you on the conflict - I never know why people can't follow the principle 'if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all' I rarely comment as I am a bit of a lurker ;-) but also because I don't want to get involved in any drama and I have seen a fair amount in a short time since joining the diamond painting community. Facebook is a useful tool to stay in touch with other diamond painters without having to have a RUclips or Instagram channel myself, but I don't like to see others being shot down for some passing comment, thank you for sticking with those of us that just want to enjoy the craft. Good luck in the surgery sending good vibes and positive thoughts!

Happy anniversary🎉. Hope your surgery goes well. Im a very passive person and truly dislike conflicts or drama it weights on my heart cause I try to make every one happy and take on their pain. I'm sure the lawyers and both parties will get things sorted in due time and it will work out. I truly don't know where I'd be with out this community it's seen me thru a lot of very dark days.

I refuse to be part of or talk about conflicts, I only did once since it involved a friend and she was innocent. But other peoples/shops beef isn't my problem as long as I keep out of it.

I tuely understand your wish to avoid others conflicts. Conflicts between family, friends even publicly can make me physically nauseated.
That’s a good way to explain it and exactly how I’ve felt too!
Being an empath myself is the reason why I dont go on Twitter or Facebook much. I post what I'm working on and then log off. I try not to get into a habit of scrolling endlessly due to my anxiety. I barely even watch my local news and disconnected my cable because of all the negativity. I've been told from family and others that I can't hide from it just ignore the anxiety. That's a reason why I don't post my thoughts and opinions because people made me feel like my thoughts are invalid and don't matter so I keep to myself. So that's why I lurk in most diamond painting groups nowadays.
I am sorry you are made to feel your thoughts dont matter. They do in my space! Scrolling social media can really make my anxiety worse too I try and disconnect daily.

I totally understand being an empath and I am a nurse also (yay nursing). I have been around a long time and have witnessed the conflicts, low key bullying, and passive aggressive behaviors of some of the OG creators. As a matter of fact, I have unsubscribed from a lot of them. However, I believe that if Marissa never posted anything DAC would not have addressed the issue publicly at all. For me, discussion is a good thing and some level of controversy fuels discussion. I don’t think anyone should bash you for not talking about the issue…it’s your channel and your choice just as it was for Marissa. If she had reported maliciously then I wouldn’t have listened but I think she did fair and impartial videos. On the other hand an OG creator has admitted being passive aggressive when she chose to comment on Marissa’s video and it’s that negative behavior that creates the REAL problems in this hobby. When you choose to be a content creator and you have thousand of subs YOU do have a responsibility to be professional and that incident was not. Everyone makes mistakes and she half ass admitted her mistake but it still had me smh and actually changed my opinion of her. That’s my tow cents on the matter. I am praying for and hope your surgery went well.
Hello fellow Nurse! I miss working so so much. I do agree in a fair discussion though I understand why when something is going the legal route maybe they are advised not too. I am always one who likes transparency and I think it goes a long way.

You are lucky that you found someone like your husband, I have never found anyone decent to share m life with even though I was married twice. That's life though. Good luck with your surgery. I had my gall bladder out years ago, had flank pressure for a while. I just started watching a show called - The Last Thing He Said to Me - on Apple TV. If you like musicals, The Greatest Showman was awesome. There wasn't alot of songs, but it is about Barnum, the circus, and a wonderful theme song called Never Enough. It's a great show. I just don't' understand why people feel that they are better than someone else. Everyone is entitled to do what they want as long as they don't hurt anyone or themselves. I watch a content creator and she said just about the same thing, that everyone in this community is not nice, she must have had some conflict also. I have learned over the years to shut those ignorant people out of my life. Hopefully you can learn to do that. I'm right there with you - I believe there are 3 sides to every story. I like getting the facts too, but we will not know the full truth because we are not in that situation.

I agree with you that the conflict is between Hannah Lynn and DAC. I do watch Diamond and Thoughts. However, I can't watch her when she's talking about the conflict. My anxiety won't let me. So I will watch her as long as she talks about anything else.

I take Ozempic and I know what you mean by having a slow digestive system... Most of the time you feel nauseated and don't want to eat but you know you have to because you'll get sick in other ways.
I understand what you mean by having pain everyday. I have botox shots for my spasticity on my right side. Now my left arm is getting bad because that's the only one I have to use. I now see the botox shots as pain management. I was so very sore when they stopped because of covid and very glad that I was their first client when it started again.
No worries on jumping topic to topic. I'm also all over the place when I talk. I'm more coherent when I write... At least I think so.

I have often wondered this as I also have thoracic outlet syndrome which can coincide with EDS too. If I do I think I would have the stiff person version but we havent really looked into it. I do fit some of the criteria though I also think genetically my mom and grandma may have it as well though went undiagnosed
My daughter has Gastroparesis it very hard to treat for her she's been on several different meds

I feel for what HL is going through truly. I feel bad for her but I do agree with the process of hand rendering being an art form in and of itself. This seems like a huge grey zone as it WAS derived from the artist’s work, however, another artistic endeavor was then achieved when the rendering was done. This is where us not knowing about the ins and outs of copyright laws and also not knowing both sides of the story make us maybe not equipped to form a good opinion.

By law, derivative artwork has its own copyright, so DAC owns the renderings. DAC needs permission from the original painting creator to sell the derivative artwork, but Hannah doesn't own DAC's renderings and can't use them as she pleases, even less give them to a competitor to sell, which was exactly what she did.

Have you ever watched white collar? It's a fun spin on a cop kind of show that was on usa back in the late 2000s. It's so funny to see the blatant car ads in the middle of the show. Still one that I like to rewatch and saw it pop up on netflix a few weeks ago.
I'm with you on the whole situation though. I won't act like I know how it should work out legally, but ethically it just seems wrong. (Heck, munimade even had renderings redone when she switched manufacturers and they were completely different from the first ones!) But there is no reason for some of these people to attack creators over this. It has nothing to do with anyone except for dac and hl. We probably won't know what actually happened until it is settled legally, or maybe even never. But we don't know the truth either way.
no I dont think ive seen that one ill have to take a look! I am sure one day we will find out how it worked out it seems Hannah Lynn wants to keep it public. it is very sad that all she has to do is not steal the rendering and problem solved. it seems like such an easy fix and most of the community I have seen comment on this agrees its not right to take the dac renderings to another shop. there is no point does she think these other shops are not good at rendering? to be their other hand charted kits look great so I dont even know why to go there. oh well.
@thediamondstitcher I feel like it may have just been so she could start making money off her images ASAP.

In terms of the "drama" i think its interesting as a law student. It can have major implication on DP creation and even ownership. If she can take rendering and she owns it, does that mean we dont own our own art we make? Can we sell completed works? Im interested in the results amd social commentary.
But other than that, its far too morally dubious and thats where the "drama" is and im not interested really. It wont change my buying habits.

It's just there and can't be reasoned with! But soon all of this will be over and you will be in better shape for the September surgery.💜🫂💜
I agree I always have had pre surgery anxiety especially the week leading up to it. Abdominal surgery will be a new one for me. I think it should be a walk in the part compared to my nerve surgeries!
I think you will find that kind of surgery to be very straightforward without all the guessing that goes with nerve injury.💜🫂💜
