Another advantage the Fortune has is the ability for party members to pluck the containers off of the external grid and load them up into a cargo ship while it continues to salvage. Bit harder with the vulture as you have to move crates from the inside out first.
For the initial 2 buffers worth, I think you are about 10-13 min faster in the Vulture if only counting time scraping (with Abrades) and time stacking (in vulture). For extra off grid/cargo elevator (Fortune) storage, think I still have to give it to the Vulture but willing to call it a draw. The Fortune might be more suitable for Pyro with its range or able to fit a faster quantum drive in Stanton (buying a few of those extra minutes back perhaps). Also, think you can fit a prospector and a fortune in a Polaris. Can't do that in the Vulture either.
I totally vibe on the "AOL Trial Discs". My friend used to work at Blockbuster and during the winter we'd often pay him a visit at work and sneak a box worth of those out in our winter coats.😅
I personally just "unlock" the boxes from the grid with a few quick clicks of the multitool and have them fall to the ground. Same after the grid refills. Much faster than to plug them off the ship onto the cargo elevator.
Mid Fortune, your exaggerating how difficult it is to move a couple boxes for 2 or 3 minutes compared to doubling your salvaging time. Failed to mention the cs and emission debuffs on the fortune is a giant “pirate me!” beacon. Obfuscated the difference in scu per minute through a “vibe check” of time to scrape a panel, a fortune gets 1.5 in the time a vulture gets 2.5, difference of 17 minutes to fill buffer and grid on the fortune vs the vultures 10 minutes. Assuming 2.5 minutes to load grid on the vulture, you can hypothetically make 1.32 million auec in an hour in terms of crate value, meanwhile a fortune with all its “convenience” in ideal conditions, can only generate 970k, with internal loading jank on the fortune it’s almost certainly less. Unless your blind and crippled it shouldn’t take that long to move a few boxes, just use a vulture.
For those running into the extremely bright cockpit mfd bar issue, here is the workaround: The cockpit has three cockpit interior lighting modes: 1) off, 2) on, 3) alert mode. These can be controlled from the inside of the cockpit, the switch is located on the door control panel at the left side of the door, when facing away from the seat. Switch the interior light to ON. This should result in the white lighting panel on the ceiling displaying a white texture. Do not use OFF or ALERT mode. Now enter the seat and the ugly lighting of the top mfd's should be gone. The Fortune seems to spawns with the cockpit lights either On or on Alert mode. So, if need be, switch them to On and enjoy salvaging in darkness. o7
I think I'm still "Team Vulture," but I still like the Fortune just not enough to give up my drake. I don't mind the moving of the boxes out of the buffer.
I'm team Fortune. I spent the weekend rolling around in a Polaris + Fortune in the hangar combo, it was glorious seeing all of those RMC boxes in the Polaris cargo bay being moved quickly. I did a mix of RMC & CM breakage to fill up that cargo bay. It was glorious when offloading it in the Atlas.
I love my Fortune. Everyone forget about the crafting function. If I have some Construction materials left in my buffer I just craft some multitools and attachments.
I am team both. I was planning on getting another Vulture, in case I lose my ship. I got the Fortune instead. I would LOVE a Constellation size salvager that is in between the Vulture and a Reclaimer. I want to solo but spend more time salvaging than cargo running. I'd also love more of a dedicated fighter that has some salvage capabilities. Let me do space combat and salvage the ships I destroy for extra income. Dogfighting in a Vulture feels like knife fighting with a plastic knife.
Tbh, not wanting to space walk to have to get the absolute max for cargo storage to be a bit more convenient, even tho I gotta do it myself, team vulture all the way
What I would really like to see for this ship, is to make the doorways slightly smaller so you can't play tetris on the interior, and limit the cargo hold to 4 only, not 7 And then have the boxes able to stack to 2 on the outside Drake still wins as far as total amount Fortune becomes fully automated
@@DigThat32 hah! No way! I want to make it even more automatic! Imagine sitting in your seat, moving from one wreck to another, only having to get up to move 4 boxes into the hold, and then you're off to sell Slower scrape times Faster gather times over all You would (should) make slightly less than the Vulture does, because the vulture has that pain in the ass factor
The boxes on the cargo grid sometimes get stuck and unable to be unloaded with the ATLS unless you toggle the power or the engines on the ship(idk which on) I just shut the ship down when I land to unload and never see the issue.
Coops here: I almost bought it on the voice over alone but I can bring back 38 boxes with my Vulture. Screw the gas tank. I want my 320K+. I leave my seat twice and no space walk bs. I love the Vulture. CIG logic says they will nerf the Vulture to even the score. *sigh
I salvage a lot, I'm actually bed logged in the Fortune ATM. I get 37 SCU in the Vulture without issues, 34 in the Fortune without having them stacked in the halls. I prefer the Fortune, I always have PTSD going down he ladder on the Vulture. I've fallen through the Vulture at the bottom and had my ship spiral way from me at top speed (engines off) too many times. While I get less out of the Fortune, I do save 10 minutes per run (including unloading which is WAY faster on the Fortune), but unlike the Vulture where I do only 1 run then get tired of it, I can do 2-3 before I know it. Looking forward to salvaging while someone unloads me with the Fortune, I bet it will be better than the Vulture in every way.
Slay, king! Great review ☺️ I am supremely lazy so the automatic box loading is appealing to me lol. I really dislike managing the cargo in the vulture. BUT Vulture does have an amazing black and pink paint so is a tough choice for me
Beautiful video for the misc fortune! i love it! I have to say that the constant complaining of some people at sc really gets on my nerves. the fortune was already being maligned before it was properly tested in everyday life. IMO it's a wonderful ship. people like to complain about the high ir/em value without mentioning that it's just as high in the company's own prospector. it flies much more solidly than the vulture. and you don't have that front-heaviness. boarding is easier and everything is more modern. i particularly like the huge cockpit view, the vulture's is good but the fortune is better. The fact that it has twice as much hull hp as the vulture and that you save the annoying ladder is also often not mentioned. i own it and also the vulture. in detail i like the fortune better but i will also keep the good old vulture, unless they nerf the old girl in a future patch. PS : The gold-red color is prettier than I thought, I just got the conchierge paint.
think I'm team fortune for the lazy boy salvage, not having to get up for a good while makes the slower speed worth it, saw someone say that if they upped the tool size it'd be 75% of the speed of the vulture but don't quote me on that I didn't do the math myself (and ya shouldn't trust math I do anyway) also edit, yoooo got a mention in this one, though I don't think youtube actually shows my name properly anymore after one update or other
Ok but how's it work for group salvaging? We know 2-manning the vulture is more effective, but can you 2 man the Fortune if the second person is flying a cargo ship of some sort? fill your 25 SCU limit, and two people transfer to cargo ship while it unloads the remaining hopper, and then back to salvage?
@@DigThat32 C1 Spirit has a tractor beam from the co-pilot seat, but something like a Corsair has a huge cargo hold and is a pretty active threat with a solo player in it, for security.
Team Fortune
or Team Vulture
or Team Whatever Get The Job Done At the Time?
This is headcanon, but it makes sense. It's not a box with salvage in it, it's a solid block of salvaged material shaped like an SCU container.
I hadn't thought of it like that before, that's awesome. Hopefully that will actually be canon once the new cargo boxes come in eventually
I like your style, I like your humour. I'm in!
Salute!

Both are solid salvagers. Glad to have the option.
Fortune / Prospector fit in the Polaris. They just gotta fix the clipping issue w/the Fortune
@@DigThat32 what do you mean with clipping issue with the fortune?
After 15 hrs in the seat all weekend salvaging with it, I am all TEAM FORTUNE!
Gonna wear that seat out quick!

I'll do that or pull one off, kill the beam, then catch it in the air
.... make a game of it
toothbrush comparison had me rolling 😆
Ha! All day job right there
Meta is the Death of Fun, so I hope these ship stay on pair.
Agreed
Great video !
Thank you for the comparison, it helped me decide which one I'm going to buy.
