Welcome back, great reaction. 🦊😊The song is 5 years old being as it was on BABYMETAL's 3rd album Metal Galaxy released in 2019. It is certainly one of BABYMETAL's more mellow songs ... but BABYMETAL can do everything.
That's one reason their collaborations all work so well as they are so versatile they can do pretty much whatever style and match up with whoever they are collaborating with.
Tim Henson and Scott le Page (Polyphia are a mainly instrumental Prog Rock band from Texas) recorded the guitar tracks for the original recording of the song. They only had a rough demo to work with that BABYMETAL sent to them with synthesised vocals and a holder guitar track that they replaced with their own. They had no idea what the song would sound like until they heard the album - and they've said it sounds like a Polyphia track with vocals and they really hoped they would get to play it live with BABYMETAL one day.
Fox_Fest in Tokyo in May (arranged, hosted and headlined by BABYMETAL) was the first chance they all had to meet up and to finally do this very first live performance with them all together.🎸🦊🎸

Scott and Tim mentioned in a recent interview that they had even more fun on this song than during their own set at FOX_FEST.
It was also the first time they've performed live with a vocalist.
There's a collaboration with BABYMETAL coming up in the future on a Polyphia album.
I'm looking forward to that.
That seems to be a thing with BabyMetal. The recent interview on the film The Heavier Trip when BabyMetal was mentioned and they talked about working with them it was just smiles and admiration for them 😁🤘🏼🦊

If you're not familiar with Polyphia, you should definitely check them out. They are a progressive rock/metal band known for their virtuoso musicianship. I would recommend either the songs "G.O.A.T." or "Ego Death" if you want react to them.
Brand New Day is more in Polyphia's wheelhouse musically than Babymetal's typical style; when Babymetal collaborate with other artists they tend to adapt to their style since they are so good at genre bending anyway. The song was originally released on Babymetal's 2019 album "Metal Galaxy", but it wasn't until May this year that Babymetal and Tim and Scott managed to all get on a stage together to perform it live. This music video was filmed at FOX_FEST in Tokyo, which was a mini festival hosted by Babymetal. I was lucky enough to be there to see this performance live and it was spectacular.

Whoever the main writer is for baby metal really knows how to compose a song. It flows so good. Totally grew on me by the end.

One of theirvolder collabs which showed how the workflows improved.
They wanted a Song with Polyphia. So they sent them a mastertape with a Dummy Guitar Track and a Dummy Vocal Track. They replacedcthe Dummy Guitars with their own Guitars and sent the Tape back. Su was nervous was this really metal. But there was no direct contact with Polyphia. If we compare it with Ratatata. Version 22 started to see the finish line.
Da Da Dance had nearly the same Background but with a japanese Guitarist. While today every Group has an active Backstudio to work remotely and avoid Corona or something like it.
Just wondering how many ppl is recommending you to check out Polyphia "Playing God" to see some mad guitar skills. 😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
