You can code on the macintosh there is software called q basic i think but you need to put it on a floppy. You could get a usb floppy reader and transfer files through that
I have an ‘84 128k Macintosh which has been upgraded to 1mb. I use a FloppyEMU with all the pre-loaded software and games you can get for the device. I also have a WiFi-232 modem which allows me to trick the Macintosh into thinking it’s connected to a plain old telecommunications system (POTS). I can now join Bulletin Boards and communicate with people from all over the world.
I’m watching this using a computer I built using the case from on of many computers my grandfather gave me. He died in 2018, but using these computers he gave me is like a part of him is still here. The computer is named Sonny BTW, that was his nickname.
Great video. A device called a Floppy Emu is a great tool to download old Mac software off the internet and use it on these old computers using sd cards.
Hi Zachary! I've been a fan for 2 years now. And I just love how you run minecraft on devices and even checking out devices, So I also wanted to play Minecraft and thank you so much for inspiring me to make Minecraft videos! Shout out to Zachery Staines!
So today i went to a vintage Apple store i brought an orange iMac G3 an dark blue iBook G3 an Macintosh 512k an iMac G4 an iMac G5 an iBook G4 and an Apple Performa computer. Its my Christmas shopping ive been saving up for a while and i got them all for decent prices they all work perfectly and i got all the accessories plus disks and games. Im going to have a lot of fun messing around with them for the next couple of months.
Jug lead? In the UK we call it a Kettle Lead.❤ And watching someone from the 2000s try to use a floppy disk is hilarious 🤣 try growing up with windows 3.11 like I did, I'm 40 😂
4:31 First Turn Off The Mackintosh, Then Put The Floppy Disc on Slot, And Then Turn On The Mackintosh, you could destroy The Floppy Disc well doing that.
Since it's a crt (cathode ray tube) it shoots electrons one at a time, nol like the newer screens like lcd and oled. That means every frame that the camera captures the Macintosh during when it's drawing, but it's so fast that it looks like it's flickering. If you were to look at it in real life, you woudn't notice any flickering since our eyes and brain are faster at proccesing the things we see. And even of you are visualy impaired, it will still look like it's flickering on video.
@@zacharystaines Yea, someone(i think retro future) already did it. BUT imagine puting a newer mac in it, and connecting it so it will look like a mac classic, but it will be for example: mac studio
Small thing the Mac in its day compared to the rest of the market wasn’t that expensive as graphical computers didn’t really exist you had pretty much 2 options the apple Lisa which was about 4 times the price or the xerox alto which was 10 times the price
Seriously your school never had computers with floppy. Jezzzz schools in Britain had pcs with floppy disk drives upto 2012. When I was in middle school they still used that very apple computer upto 2006. Like you said if it's not broke why fix it. For the floppy never push it in while it's on you can damage the drive push it in when it's off then start it. To install software once the OS has loaded eject the floppy and install software on a new floppy disc it's that easy. They were great machines in the day. I'm 36 and can remember kids used to fight over who got to go on that apple as the school had other versions and that one had games on it.
Unmodified: no You need to change something in the screen connector (can't remember why), so it will trick the mac to say that is supports 256 bit video, becouse that what doom needs to run. The Macintosh has only 2 bit video (either black or white)
probably not, if someone makes a port of it, then it will probably count, it just doesn't have enough ram and the cpu is probably even too slow for doom
it's not even possible. it only has 512 kbs of ram, you can probably install windows 1.0 but it is not possible to install such an OS like windows 11 [or even 10, 8.1, 8, 7, vista, and even 2.0] on really low spec vintage hardware [also long story short, it's just not possible, even windows 2.0 will probably not run, windows 2.0 will use all of the ram the mac 512k has]
@@Duck_tape210 yea, i kinda forgot about that but you can kinda boot it of the floppy disk but that means, somehow getting the mac to run a really stripped down version of msdos 3.0 [and it probably doesn't exist after all] on it because msdos 3.0 accordingly uses more then 512 kb's of ram... so meaning, welp your can't just install the really first version of windows 1.0, but you can boot some really simple programs on it
@@OldRobloxRedux yea, if you rewrite the whole os in the weird motorola chip language. Unless there is a official port of ms dos to that chip witch i don't know about. and the whole macOs 1.0 is a simple program
@@Duck_tape210 yea true, if a computer needs a removable floppy disk or a cd or something to work, then that will probably means that entire "OS" [if you can even call that an OS..] is just a program, if its booting automatically from something upon startup [even without a cd, floppy, usb or something inserted] then that's an "OS"
