Great job, very detailed video. My bean light keeps flashing and I can't figure it out. I've tried everything. Thank You though. Your video was 11 yrs ago. WOW! great job!
all compliments to you !!! Thank you so much ! I am a passionate espresso coffee drinker and wanted to try a grind coffee and bypass the grinder which blocked my machine. You saved me time, money and desperate mornings without espresso while waiting for the company to fix this problem. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Dushka
You would think Saeco would design this so ANYONE could easily clean this. They are very easy to clog. Check you dregs or spent puck when done. Every once in a while I will have to remove and re-install the grinder. It is finicky about getting it just the right height.
I am as non-mechanical minded as you can imagine, but after seeing your well-detailed instructions I was easily able to fix our blocked grinder (instead of taking to the service and waiting for a week to be fixed :P). Wanting a morning coffee is also a huge motivation after all :D (to put it into a perspective my biggest achievement so far was to change batteries in the remote control :D)
You were right! I set the grind coarser and it is working just fine now. Thank you so much! Both your videos helped me understand how it all work, and solve my problem.
excellent video and spot on. followed video as i cleaned the machine. the grinder had never been cleaned before. now it's working very well. thanks so much!!!
I think you are right. After I watched the video I took out the brew group and analyzed how it works. I think the problem is not the grinding unit but as you say, something in the water flow. I will try again with a larger grind. The machine was given to me by a friend who had it for a while, not sure how long. He descaled it often and I don't see any calcium/salt deposits. Your videos were very useful to understand how it all works. It makes coffee but drips too slow. I will try adjusting.
If the coffee comes out in drops, there could be a few problems. 1) if you have mineral build up inside the boiler/tubing the could cause a problem. I don't know if a simple descaling will correct this. 2) I don't know how long you have had the coffee maker, but if you change beans the size of the grind may need to be adjusted. If the grind is too fine, then the coffee will come out very slowly. 3) If you machine is really old, I would think the pump may wear out and no provide enough pressure.
If anyone has a Saeco Royal Pro I'd say this instructional video is very useful. The grinding mechanism is identical and there is a similar flap above the brew group that gets clogged by oily beans.
Hi, thank you for sharing that. I have the same machine for over 3 years and today it stopped to make coffee and send just water. In more details, it grades the coffee as usual then it goes to mute instead of the 3 loud knocks, and then send water to the cup. Please if you can show me how to fix it or at least what's wrong with it. Many thanks.
i think i need a new upper and lower burr but cannot find the part that looks like the machine above - where can i buy replacements? i think the model is 741420308
Hi I was having a similar problem and noticed the door at the end of the coffee grinding chute has a spring which isn’t working. The door doesn’t spring back and leaves bits of powder around the brew unit. I can’t figure out how it works. Anyone able to help offer some advice?
I have a problem, my saeco synthia keeps showing error with a picture of a wrench.. the manual states to put on and off 3 times to solve problem..this does not work...any solutions...the machine has not been used for about 5 months..
my talea plus is turning out sloppy pucks instead of nice firm shaped ones as it used to; can i fix that myself ;also i have removed the milk island as i like to manually heat the milk it continually drips water all over the bench from the island connection;a good puddle every time i make a coffee and also when its not in use
Could you elaborate as to how to remove the safety? You make it look so easy in the video but I've tried everything I can think of without breaking it.
Ok. By the Safety, I am assuming you are referring to the plastic shield that prevents one from sticking their fingers in the grinder. That is not easy to remove. Note that it is not necessary to remove it to clean the grinder. The entire hopper or bin will lift off once you remove the three screws on the top. The safety MAY be able to be lifted off, but there is probably a 50% chance you may break it. I broke a portion of mine, but I absolutely hate that piece, so I was glad. At the bottom of each of the three supports, a small cylindrical feature is pressed into a circular receptacle or cylinder. I am not sure if these are glued into place, or just pressed in. Two of mine came out without breaking, the third Support broke at the interface. If you need, I could probably find mine and send a photo...
hello - tks for instructions, I have a "Saeco Italia SUP021 YR" - same machine internals (have not use in a while) - I did open and did this part, and checked for a bad or unpluged contact - ... - my machione has continuous red WaterLevel light On, and blinking 2 green (the Wait to Warm Lights) - my question - how can I Force Descale , or any other ideeas , also - How to acces and Clean = Water Level Sensor ? ,,, ... tks for any helpfull hints
On my machine, the water level switch was a magnetic switch mounted inside, and the float in the tank was magnetic. If that is the same and stuck, I'm not sure how you would free whatever is stuck on the switch. With great pain, the machines can be disassembled. I personally switched to a Breville Espresso machine with a built in grinder hoping to avoid the complexity and failure modes. So far so good, and the grinder does not clog easily. I'm much happier in the end.
Tks much for answer and referral ... I have had the same thought and I went ahead and removed the magnet inside the tank - that did not do it , I went ahead and direct connected the sensor wires in between themselves = now the machine will never-ever believe does not have water ... yes, kinna of a heck solution though ot works and I also had an eye on a Breville , probably when this thing hits the fan ... which model did u get ?
A clogged burr grinder will just result in an insufficient amount of ground coffee making it through the system. The machine will continue to grind until it faults out with a red light. This happens in the video when it runs out of beans. A clogged grinder will not result in slowly dripping/dispensing liquid coffe. You probably have another issue.
Pierre, never use vinegar to descale an espresso machine. Use a professional descaler because vinegar will ruin the boiler. Your plug is probably on the inlet or outlet of the boiler. Disconnect the tubing on both sides, rod it out, run water through the system and then descale it. Good luck!
teesalmon , Thank you very much for your reply, no there's no water coming out at all, went to a place where they said they would/could fix it but after 2 months of waiting for it I went back to get it, they told me it was the mother board??????? It grinds and it goes through the regular cycle, it seems that it doesn't pump water at all. Yet we did prime it several time.

Thank you so much!!! You saved me from buying a new machine when all it needed was cleaning of the grinder.

Search this on You Tube. This is very good too.
"How-to: Saeco Vienna Plus Grinder Calibration"
Two cups of coffee to celebrate. The clean went exactly as you said, and first time success!

Did you get this fixed? Try pressing the little "Steam Cloud" button for 5 seconds.
Is it OK to run a vinegar cycle to clean out clogs as well? And then of course a few water cycles?
Vinegar would be used to unclog a mineral or scaling clog, this video is about unclogging the coffee grind chute. Thx.
Our saeco easy coffee machine is clog somewhere, it does grind but no water comes out, I will try with vinegar to see if that would help.

Would anyone be able to tell me how to access the grinder on a Syntia FOcus?
Am înțeles, dar n-am priceput nimic din rusă :)👎
