I have relatives who hand make that stuff. One time my cousin’s husband thought I would find it funny if he took a spoonful of the stuff and set it on fire on our kitchen. It didn’t seem to work so he dumped the spoonful back in the jar of moonshine and the whole thing exploded into flames. 🔥 moron. He’s a firefighter too. I haven’t tried it yet.

I’ll take a shot at it…. The 12 Prompts: 1 - "Cocktail Hour" - The one time I got a little toasted was while studying abroad in Colombia. The American students I was with were some of the most obnoxious people I have ever met and after ten hours of having to interact with them at the college, I found sitting in my hostel family’s one bathroom unairconditioned apartment crammed with eight other people a little too taxing for my nerves. So I went across the street to this dive bar and drank vodka and orange juice with a chicken Caesar salad (I wasn’t supposed to be eating fresh vegetables because of the foreign bacteria but I had already caught the stomach flu there and assumed I couldn’t feel much worse). That long winded story is my explanation for why I would select Love in the Time of Cholera as the book that goes with my favorite drink. Because of the Colombia connection and the cholera which I felt like I had contracted. 2 - "Neon Lights" - I purchased the recently published novel The Fox Wife for its front cover. I truly enjoyed the story, but the cover artist should be applauded in my opinion. 3 - "The Bouncer" - I was quite excited to try Carrie by Stephen King for the first time, but when I started to listen to it, I just started feeling queasy. I would be very willing to try it again though. 4 - "DJ's Choice" - Under Heaven was my book of the year in 2023. The touches of the supernatural within a story that could almost pass for historical fiction might be an interesting entry point to fantasy. 5 - "Disco Ball" - Blog of of Elves is my favorite fantasy novel and takes place in a world I now feel completely at home in. 6 - "Dance Floor Diva" - I would have to give that to Dune. What an opening! 7 - "Guest List" - that would gave to be David McCullough, may he rest in peace. David’s book Mornings on Horseback was the first book my mother loved and imbued her with a passion for reading, which she then passed on to me. 8 - "VIP Entrance" - Hmmmm, I read mostly older books. Were the Witcher novels popular before the Netflix show came out? I think they increased in popularity. I’m also still patiently waiting for Legend of the Galactic Heroes to take off in the West. 10 - "Midnight Read" - In Cold Blood. 11 - "After-Party" - The Last Lion: Defender of the Realm. 12 - "Late Night Conversations" - The Samurai’s Garden continues to haunt me a year after reading it. Beautiful story.
