@@SunShine-xj8or as a hardcore fan of the 90s version the new one wasn't horrible but it definitely didn't come close to replacing the 90s one. Of course I had quite a lot of complaints although they did take a lot of scenes and quotes from the book but the editing was bizarre. If someone wasn't familiar with the story they'd be confused because they jump all over the place. Also I really didn't like the casting of Amy because when she was young Amy it didn't fit at all. She looked way too old to play the young part. And I just didn't like her character as much in the new version. Also the kid who played Laurie was super cute but on the flip side looked very young and so when they grew up he still looked like a kid. 🤣
@@ArcaneandStellar I still won’t see it but appreciate this review because it seemed like how you described even from the trailers!! 😆 I think the 90’s was so perfectly casted (esp the Laurie/yes the new one didn’t match up esp for the tension btwn him and Jo!) The sisters all fit well with the actors (Beth/young Amy) were so good coming from reading the book...in my mind no one else could’ve played them better! Even the aesthetic was better in the old one. I’m usually open to idea of new versions but this is just a classic 😁
I totally know what you mean! Usually I'm open to new versions or as a reader books being turned into movies and enjoying them for what they are but there are a few where I just can't. I'm also a big fan of the original Anne of Green Gables series and I haven't brought myself to watch any of the other versions. I just can't have Anne as anyone else! Sense and Sensibility too. the 90s version is just my version! I loved the 90s Mansfield Park too even though it was so much different than the novel!
