    Do you have a link for those particular bases? I can’t seem to find them anywhere on the internet and I really like the way you have them labeled on the thick acrylic.
    I’ve got over 300 thumbnails in perky boxes and I’m just not sure if I love the way it looks anymore.

      Google Khyber minerals the website will come up and you can purchase there or at least contact them to work out details. I haven't ordered through there in a while I just message him when I need some.

      Those are technically waste from when I worked for a laser cutting company. Any place with a laser cutter that cuts acrylic will have all kinds of neat waste.
      You could have them custom cut too most likely

    Hey thanks for this video 👍 I just bought thirty 30x20x20mm clear acrylic blocks and am thinking of pulling my thumbnails out of their Perky boxes and hot gluing them to the acrylic blocks for a more museum type look. I bought my glue gun and clear glue sticks from Cody at Stone-Throne, and have been kinda chicken to start fearing I’m going to mess my specimens up 😳 Watching you do it helps. Do you have much experience removing specimens from Perky boxes that have been glued in? That’s another thing I’m a little chicken of doing .. trying to get the old glue off some pretty small, delicate, and expensive specimens, a video on that would be cool too. Thanks again 👍

      This is awesome to hear. Make sure you have a glass display or something to protect them if you are going this route. Also make sure your not in a earthquake zone.
      As far as removing them from the perky's are they currently hot glued in, elmers glue, or mineral tac'd in place?

    • @chrisstrobel3439
      @chrisstrobel3439 2 года назад +2

      Imagination Hobbies Well I’m in Orange County 30min south of Los Angeles .. so yeah I’m in a big time earthquake zone 😳 lol, and I have a 2ft x 6ft four shelf 50 year old glass and wood display cabinet full of cabinet, small cabinet, miniature, and ten thumbnails all sitting freely on acrylic blocks, so if the big one hits I’m screwed, but I’ll probably have worse problems when/if that happens in my life time. I’ve been through several earthquakes in the past 30 years with this cabinet so far .. and only a couple minerals moved a few millimeters on their acrylic blocks. So anyway who knows what kinda glue the previous owners of the thumbnails I have in Perky boxes used .. that’s what spooks me, for instance I have a silver wire specimen that’s uber aesthetic .. little swirling full loops all lined up perfectly .. but who knows what glue they used and how delicate the matrix is .. my guy is saying leave it alone .. but my artistic mind is saying man that would look awesome on one of these little acrylic blocks, what would you do? Getting ready to watch your thumbnail specimen video, thanks for the help and inspiration 👍

      To me the little foam thing in there is fully disposable so I would start with breaking that all away.
      You could soak it in warm water first because if it's elmers glue (most yellow looking old-timey glue is) it will come off easier.
      Use tweezers to take the glue off. Soaking in warm water is your friend. Patience is king.
      If its very delecate i Don't pull and tug on the mineral. I work around it.

      Let me know how your feeling after watching my thumbnail collection vid. All of those were glued into perked boxes at one point so that should give you a good frame of reference on what's possible.

      Also always work over a soft padded surface and not too up in the air. So if a drop happens your more safe

    • @ImaginationHobbies
      @ImaginationHobbies  Год назад

      Ofcourse!
      It is a Brother brand P-touch lable maker model PT-D400 4 line lable maker.
      Highly recommend getting this one. You can change font sizes and depending on the tape you buy you can print in up to 3 or 4 lines and add a frame and accents.

      @kevindeleon19892 gypsum from Manitoba or Alberta? I just picked up small specimen of vesuvianite this year in the summer, actually it's in my recent mineral show haul video, it's a small cluster of mainly green crystal with hints of pink/purple I liked the colour combo and for the price they were asking it was a no brainner.
