Heh - this is timely :D Our gaming club is just about to host our first tournament(s). Conquest was the original idea, but people who play some other systems asked if maybe we could get multiple tournaments going in the same venue, given that it is already rented. And what came out of that idea is awesome! We will have a conquest tournament, SW legion, Blood Bowl and Eldfall chronicles. It great to see so many different and diverse systems.
Following up on my previous comment: luckily we have a kind of community center available to have plenty space and we have it for 2 days, so we'll split the event into 3 and 1 rounds per day (if a few more would have signed up we would have done 3 and 2, with 5 being the absolute max amount of rounds we would have). As for the drive - the nature of our country is that most people are about 1 hour of driving away form the capital and we have the venue in a town beside the capital, so luckily most people within the country will have max 1 hour of drive :D (some very remote hamlets might need longer). I was sooo surprised that there is any wargaming scene at all here in Slovenia, let alone non GW stuff!
Your recent podcast on your six month journey with Conquest convinced me to pull the trigger on the game. I decided to go Hundred Kingdoms, as I had a box of Mercenary Crossbowmen I had purchased a couple of years ago for another mini's agnostic game, and found them too big, but great mini's. Today I got in a 5th anniversary starter, the Hundred Kingdoms 1 player starter, Men at Arms, Rangers, Steel Legion, a Neophyte and a Null Mage. This should keep me busy for a while. I am about 4.5 hours from Cincy, in western Indiana. I will have to make a trip to a game day to see the game played. Thanks for your content, and all the work you put into creating it.
Not sure where in Western Indiana you are, but there are active conquest scenes at Common Room Games in Bloomington, and some of the shops in Indianapolis, in case you want to drive less for those early trying out the game games
@@markkrause6266 About an hour from Bloomington, I will have to check out Common Room Games. Two to three hours from Indy depending where in Indy. Thanks for the info.
Up here in Michigan, we'd love to have you. Come to Michigan GT! But yeah, the 4 round requirement was rough. The issue is we still need to hit 12 people to qualify as a CWE, which isn't so bad, but really pushes travel and getting people involved that may burn out. Hope to see you guys come out to Grand Rapids some time!
Unfortunately, Michigan GT isn't in the cards for us this round, but definitely plan on traveling for tournaments this season with Michigan being high on the list!
Welcome back John!! 👏👏👏
I love hearing about yalls tournament experiences!

Just to affirm what everyone already knew: John was a delight at that tournament! His opponents agreed that he's awesome!
First and welcome back!
