I just bought a pair of these, the non waterproof, breathable ones. I am so impressed with the build quality, comfort and durability of these hiking shoes. They were the only hiking shoes that fit my wide feet too. I am expecting these shoes to last for years. They appear indestructible. Looking forward to goinh on a lot of hikes with these babies!

Could you show shoes from above, please? And show somehow the toebox shape. I've bought a pair of Targhree III and after few days realized that while it's wide enough in the middle it's too narrow in toebox and my toes are squeezed.

Keen, I ❤ your product. I’m a daily brisk walker for the mathematical benefits and I wear them without socks in winter and summer. I walk mostly in the city with a weighted backpack, three to ten miles a day, seven days a week. So I need a real hiking boot not a sneaker boot.
I think there are a lot more people taking up the sport of hiking and daily brisk walking for the mathematical benefits and these people want to look fashionable in their trail gear footwear game where they mostly walk in the city or their nearest walking trails and paths.
Hikers and daily brisk walkers are not hunters, we actually would like to be spotted by hunters and aren’t trying to blend in. Did you know that the typical, average hunter only walks a few hundred yards?
I dunno, just thought I’d give you my two cents because I’m constantly looking for boots and have never found anything like my first Keens with the double speed hooks. Such stability and comfort I have never found again.
Any way thanks for your ear.
The problem is that most manufacturers make hiking boots in black, grey, brown/tan or a green that’s so dark that it looks black and this was probably sufficient for decades. Today, I think people especially hikers and daily brisk walkers want something that has a little more pop. Perhaps, something like the bright blue hiking boot that’s always sold out on Amazon?
Also, I give you the power of daily brisk walking for the mathematical benefits:
    (Cue pre-written text)
This is not a judgment, this is quite possibly the best information that you’re going to receive in this lifetime. I call it the power of daily brisk walking for the mathematical benefits. And if it does what I say it will do, you will share it with your family, friends and loved ones until the end of time or the end of your family line, whichever comes first.
We humans were meant to walk every day and to feel, look and be our optimal best we have to walk briskly everyday.
*Practicing the art of daily brisk walking for the mathematical benefits will change your physicality, your countenance, your mind and then quite possibly your life.*
When this works for you, share it with your parents/family, friends and loved ones if you want to catch a glimmer of what they were like when they were young because the power of daily brisk walking will age them in reverse.
The power of daily brisk walking works and it works fast and efficiently. Prove it to yourself, here’s how:
Take a selfie before you begin this process, then walk briskly everyday for the mathematical benefits that’ll payoff like compounding interest. After some time has passed, take another selfie. The difference should be easily discernible and readily apparent in your changing physicality and happier countenance. If you stick with it you’re going to look sharper, feel sharper and actually be sharper than you’ve been in some time. You’re going to look, feel and be happier and more energized than you’ve felt in a long time.
(No dieting or weightlifting is required)
    When you walk:
Open your eyes slightly wider and walk at a brisk pace, making sure to swing both of your arms while using your eyes for things both near and far & having as much fun as possible.
(It’s an eye exercise and brain training stimulator)
At some point you’re going to feel as if your eyesight is improving and you’re aging in reverse.
Google “brisk walking and telomeres”, lengthening your telomeres will have you feeling as if you’re aging in reverse. You’re going to feel healthier, happier, sharper and stronger than you have in quite some time if you just stick with it.
That’s it, it really is that simple.
We humans were meant to feel alive, healthy, happy, vibrant and vital all of our lives as we age. If you practice the art of daily brisk walking for the mathematical benefits you will experience all of these things. And unlike other activities this one, barring illness or injury is sustainable for the rest of your life.
Why does this work more efficiently and effectively than almost anything else at helping you achieve your goals?
Because we were designed/evolved and adapted over millions of years to do this one thing extremely well. Animals in the wild walk from shortly after birth until death in a never ending search for food and water or to escape predators. We humans eschew walking and ride in air conditioned comfort to air conditioned food stores and air conditioned gyms to walk slowly, workout a bit and stand around.
It’s only been since the last hundred plus years and the invention of the automobile that we’ve forgotten that we’re supposed to walk and walk briskly everyday and the invention of the cellphone has only exacerbated the issue.
If we want to look, feel and be our optimal best we have to thoroughly mix the chemicals in our brains and bodies everyday. We have to walk and we have to walk briskly.
If you’re unaccustomed to walking briskly, fear not, just take it slow, your large muscles will adapt quickly and you have the rest of your life.
The leading cause of injury in adults is unintentional falls.
*Practicing the art of daily brisk walking will improve your balance, mobility, agility and coordination making falls less likely.*
This is sustainable for the rest of your life and a guaranteed mood booster.
    Extras:
Make an AC/DC greatest hits playlist, push play and try to keep up.
(This is a great brisk pace)
*Get psyched* *Get hyped* *Get fired up*
Eventually you’ll be able to recall this feeling easily and at will.
Dress lightly or you’ll overheat, feel sick and quit.
I wear baselayer, synthetic in warm weather and wool in cooler weather. No jacket is required until approximately 10 degrees.
Good, comfortable shoes or boots are a must.
When you walk seven days a week for years you’re going to experience every kind of weather. Something I’ve learned is that we humans have an amazing capacity to heat ourselves up quickly when we’re on the move and the rain, snow and cold will have little effect. Think about our caveman ancestors in skins, no underwear & no jackets and boy are we lucky and you’ll be warm and toasty. If you’re cold, just walk faster!
(You’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll adapt if you just stick with it)
You’re going to sweat a lot, so stay well hydrated and drink water before you get thirsty.
Get an Apple Watch and close your rings daily, it’s cheaper than any trainer or gym and it will keep you disciplined and on track.
Good luck to you and remember to:
Open your eyes slightly wider and use them for looking at things both near and far while swinging both of your arms. *Remember to think happy thoughts when you walk and have as much fun as possible to achieve the maximum benefits.*
PS- This is everything that I’ve learned in eight years, distilled down to its essence and put in a nutshell to make it as easy as possible for you with the best possible outcome. This works, prove it to yourself by aging in reverse, remember to walk briskly everyday for the mathematical benefits.
PSS- Start slow and take it easy, you have the rest of your life to perfect the art of daily brisk walking. As always, check with a medical professional before beginning any program of exercise.

Targhee III has been a fantastic hiker for me. I also just wear it around at work; super comfortable on the trail and on the job.

I've worn these for landscaping and worked great for breathability and keeping my feet cool in the Summer while at the same time dry from morning dew on wet lawns. The only con was that they only last one season and the sole eventually rips apart from shovel kicking.

Switched today from Keen to Merrell. Have had 5 pairs of keen boots, extremely comfortable and absolutely love them. Only reason I switched is every pair I've had only lasted 4-5 months. My last pair were the targhee iii and regretted buying them after looking them over. You can see clearly they are held together by glue that doesn't last and after 3 months the sole is peeling off in different places and sides of the boot are torn through just from walking. Not going to pay 180+ for a keen boot that might last a little longer. Sad to see, they're really screwing over their customers

They have a 1 year warranty, did you submit a claim?

    • @rorynelson7548
      @rorynelson7548 3 года назад +1

Yes I've gone through the warranty process. But all they'll give you is a 100$ credit through their website, and their boots cost more than that so you still gotta pay. And when that pair only lasts a short time, you have no more warranty.

I had the same problem, replaced the first pair under warranty only to have the second pair do the same thing.

Tried the Merrell boots, didn't last any longer. Finally found the danner vicious. I'm getting about 7 months out of them and they're more comfortable than keens. Runnings has them on sale often for 140. I also put that KGs tough toe on them on all the stitching and seams. I love them

Is the Targhee ll wider in the forefoot? I wish you would make a true wide...the wides are more of a 2E - like all the brands. Super disappointing for those of us with 4E feet (or slight bunions). The base/shape just needs to be widened/rounder in the forefoot (check out a Men's Hoka Bondi 7 or Men's Ghost 4E. I know they're sneakers but you'll see what I mean) which would allow 2E/4E to fit via sock. You'd be the first! Making them more sleek to me means making them narrower??? The other thing: for those of us with orthotics (I have metatarsalgia), when you take out your insole, it's a hard surface. Put more cushion into sole, not insert. Thanks for ear.

They are very comfortable, slip resistant even on wet, soapy, and greasy restaurant kitchen floors. Unfortunately they only last 3 to 4 months before the sole components start coming unglued and the stitching begins to fail.
The first pair was replaced under warranty but the second pair did the exact same thing, not worth $180.00. KEEN needs to improve these with better glues and tougher stitching.

Despite many comments online, I find Targhee III a lot better than Targhee II. The II feels way too large for the same size for both the feet and the ankle. And the bottom feels like the three season tire while the III looks the all season tire.
