The thing is at the time much was made about the debranding of Central and Westcountry (although Westcountry at least was spared the intermediate Carltonised idents Central has here) but looking back now between 1999-2002 all 3 Carlton-branded stations were still largely independent broadcasting operations all doing their own thing on their own patch, just operating under the same name. Meanwhile Granada might have kept the regional names up on screen on their stations but behind the scenes had quietly dismantled everything that underpinned them in favour of consolidation. From a modern perspective, Granada (despite being the only ITV company to date back to the very beginning) did far more to destroy the regional ITV system than Carlton did.
Hi! Any clips of Man o man?
1999 - the year when Central was stripped of all it's identity and became just a Carlton subsidiary devoid of charm.
