    What do you make of this combo, and which other nasty tactics and Units do you see being popular from this new Codex?!

      Add in Lhykis to give critical hits on a 5+
      Also Asurman has move shoot move and that allows you to re-embark so you don't have to spend the CP getting into the transport.
      Also, if you're at 24" range and don't want to expose your vehicle by getting within 9" you can spend a CP to give Asurman sustained 1.
      Also, if there's an enemy with a damage modifier (say -1 or half damage) then you can use a strat to ignore mods.
      But I think using Lhykis for the crits on 5+ is the biggest multiplier here if we're just looking for big numbers.

    1) it costs around 350 points.
    2) it's once per game, afterwards the unit is only good at clearing chaffs.
    3) even if you re-embark afterwards your falcon will explode to a soft breeze

    It's a seriously potent (crazy) output - although it is from Phoenix Lord and the defacto leader of the Eldar elite aspect armies and once per game.
    The codex has made Eldar even more glass cannons. Some units have had a great glow up (with indicative point increases), but there have been some general nerfs too. No more shoot back with wraiths for instance, warwalkers loosing their -1 wound shield and 4+ invul, each warpspider now having to role individually when they jump to see if they die, and all the chonky units loosing a pip or more of toughness, farseers not making a unit (avatar) -1 to wound for an entire battle round, etc.
    Holding objectives will be harder, and Eldar will have to rely on the new flavoursome movement mechanics to survive, which represents the lore.
    Whilst some individuals will look various datasheets and decree they're broken (not that I am saying you are). They will forget most of these units are T3 W1 - they will die quickly. They're not DWK, Sang' Guard or such like, and can be easily countered with the moat basic shooting profiles if caught unawares. If the transport gets popped and there are some flamers about these will be easily barbequed.
    Some opponents who might have large contingent of ultra durable deepstrikers who rely on their chonk to survive everything (such as sang guard with a character making them -1 hit & wound, normally with AOC placed upon them) might need to field a little more shooting and think about screening a little more. Everything should after all have a counter, which makes the game more interesting.
    The lack of the pre-codex Battle host & Strands of Fate will ultimately mean the lethality / efficiency of vehicles, special weapons and characters will reduce. Eldar will not be able to hit and wound reliably as they once did, guarantee overwatch on a Avatar or such like, or just pop 8 damage on a vehicle without a dice roll - that's a good thing.
    The new mechanics will be far more interactive, flavoursome, and lore accurate. Having to spend points means it will not be an army wide benefit like Oath of Moment, judgement tokens, etc which all increase the lethality of an ENTIRE ARMY. Nor is it like T'Sons with doom bolts going of everywhere or turning of saves for a unit. They will have to be thought about and no way passive.
    It's going to be fun, and there will be some good variety due to all the detachments, and if it is indeed overpowered, Eldar will be hit with the nerf stick once again.

    Asurmen innately gives move shoot move to the unit he joins via his dataset ability, so you don't even have to burn a CP to reembark via the Skyborne Sanctuary strat. With optimal positioning you may be able to disembark the squad from a transport that is outside LOS of any threats, get the combo off on the target, and reembark back outside of LOS to force your opponent to expose their bigger guns if they want to get an angle of your Falcon/Serpent.
    I think early Aeldary turns will revolve around trying to neutralize as many targets that can efficiently deal with transport profiles. If successful it will allow them to catch up on Primary and run transport shenanigans with impunity for the win. It's going to look one-sided either way, if we'll executed by the Aeldary in their favor, if they make a mistake in the opponents favor.

    Is the combo insane? Yes! But to be fair it’s only once per game and you do have to expose the Falcon as well. Also, Asurman is supposed to be the first phoenix lord. Lore wise the dude would totally be able to delete terminators.

      And lest we forget stern guard who can also dish out north of 20 dev wounds with a longer range and full rerolls innately

    If you tag the unit with Lychys (I know it’s spelled wrong), it makes the unit even more broken, as it crits on a 5+. In addition, if you are in the aspect host detachment, you can use one of the stratagems and an aspect shrine token to get sustained lethals criting on 5+ with ignores cover.

    • @michalanz2612

      Yeah, Lhykhis buff is spicy. I think Lhykhis is possibly slightly overrated/not always worth it, as you're going to lose her (10 intercessors can kill her and her 5 spiders in one go), so you'd just be tossing away almost 250 points. Though she does need to go up points I think.

      @@cruelmoleFire power, anti tank and the right units are always a good counter. Yes, that will work against this. Just use strategy and think about what your own forces can do.

    My problem with this combo is that it's 350 points, hard to get a Falcon in 8.9"from a target. You just spent 350 points killing 250 points of Wardens. That's not a good plan.
    Six Shining Spears for 240 points also kill a five man Warden brick from the same range but can travel through buildings and can do do in any detachment.

  • @specialmeats
    @specialmeats 14 дней назад

    This is not a problem combo, 6 wardens cost less and the unit dies to Intercessors. If you've allowed the falcon/wave serpent to get that close, then you've lost all your anti-armor shooting already and have already likely lost the game?

  • @jameskurth3560
    @jameskurth3560 13 дней назад

    I don't think this is very impressive really. I might run it and test as an infantry killer, but infantry aren't the problem. We're in a vehicle meta. Killing their points back in infantry is useful rarely.
    I'd rather take 350 points in shroud runners, warp spiders, and swooping hawks that do other things too.
