Song is nice but there’s a line that is seems contrary to Catholic doctrine - “took my place on the cross”. Penal substitution is a Protestant doctrine.

Hello, wow it's been 9 months since. To clarify, Our Catholic Doctrine teaches Sacrificial Atonement, not penal substitutionary. Sacrifical Atonement means Jesus Himself chose to die on our behalf to save the world from sin. He was not forced to do it, He actually have a choice. The Protestant doctrine says otherwise, that He has no choice but to die in order for the scripture be fulfilled. Which in our Catholic Teaching it's "unbiblical" because God the Father is a God of Justice, meaning He won't allow such injustice like the innocent(Jesus) to die for the guilty(humanity). So it's a matter of premise, of doctrine, not of the terms used on this song. From a Catholic Stand point He did take our place on the cross metaphorically, figuratively, and literally. Out of His love for us, not of because He had no choice. Hope this helps. :) You can message me for further discussions btw. God bless you.

I dont like it we divide those who are in faith because of those people on top.
