"It's that voice!" you said. It's much more than that. She is class, elegance, humbleness, artistry, and she has a beautiful soul. The voice, I agree, is pretty damned good too.
The more you listen to this version the more you will hear and appreciate just how much she has changed. She sings it a key lower which allows her to bring in rasp and lower notes that make this my favorite version next to the original. It is said that AJ doesn’t cover songs, she uncovers them, often times singing them better and with way more feeling than the original artist did. As you listen to her music all the way back to 7 years old when she won Norways got talent the emotion she puts into her music that most singers completely miss will become obvious to you. She is the finest vocalist of our lifetime IMO. 👍🏻😉 Every song I listen to her sing, brings me an incredible peaceful feeling, like vitamins for my soul.

@@Dazza010 yep, she Owns that song now. Her rooftop version of Everytime We Say Goodbye is flawless. She stands right next to Ella when she sings that. And that's saying everything. At 10 she produced a series of amazing songs. Something clicked and she reinvented every song that year. Her, I Put a Spell on You was mind boggling. I watch a new reactor every day just lose their shit when they see it. Even the most reserved lose control of their face during that song. Looking back, you can see a prodigy make all the right choices and many talented musicians have shown up to be a part of it all. Imagine having accompaniment, bands, orchestras as part of your life since 7 years old.

This performance is beyond belief, the cinemaphotography, the ART, and this time we get to savor over 4 minutes of total bliss, no one is capable of doing this song justice like Angelina Jordan. David Foster and Linda Thompson, who co-wrote this ballad for Whitney Houston would be blown away by this performance.
She changed the key to this song, but does it really matter as long as she has the ability to give each word, or phrase, meaning like no one else in this universe can. How can she evoke such emotion in each and every performance? Why do I get chills, or cry tears, or lose my breath when Angelina sing a song that I have experienced many times in the past without this happening? If this feeling only happened to me that would be ok, but it happens to billions of people. We play these videos of AJ over, and over again to get our high.
I was a Whitney fan from the beginning of her career to her tragic end. Whitney was great, but Angelina at 16 is far better than Whitney ever was at making you feel each word, and phrase. AJ

A lot of people want to hear the high notes, which Angelina can do with ease, but many times she will interpret a song in a way to create more emotion. Honestly I could sit here and listen to her sing I Have Nothing over and over again but there is too much to get through. I reacted to a few today (Bohemian Rhapsody, Billie Jean, Yesterday and all NGT performances) and with every video I just felt myself getting more and more hooked. Will definitely have to react to a lot more of her performances.

Many people cannot listen to her with dry eyes. Its a phenomenon that was called the "Halo effect" back in the Middle Ages. It was described as the effect those who stood before Angels or Saints got from the light of there "Halo" washing over them. A fullness of spirit or heart that brang tears of joy or pure unbridled emotion to their eyes. When applied to artists, mostly Sininger's it is the effect of their ability to express emotions through their voices. An artist that is truly in to and loves their ability and enjoys sharing that love will be able to so effect their audiences that they will weep listening to them. Angelina was 3 when she told her family she was going to be a singing star and she has always love it and you can see how humble and sedate she is normally even a bit shy, then as she approaches the mic she becomes as poised and sure as any one ten times her age. She owns that stage or space and exudes pure confidence and from that place of calm she is pure Magic. A God given gift. Iv been watching her rise for about 9 years now and I am still captivated by her abilities.
She was definitely born to sing and sing she certainly does. One thing I do know though is that she probably wont ever make me cry but that is only because I dont cry. My wife hates it and thinks im dead inside but I only cry at funerals lol.

loved the reaction Daz...any other reactions to do for Angelina was the question I guess....all of them would be my answer, all 200+ , they are all great going back to 6 years old. This prodigy/genius was born with absolute talent and musicality. There is simply to much to fathom in just a couple reactions....very long ways to go.
So you are more into older music. You are luck! Angelina covered so many of the great of the past: Billie Holiday, Roberta Flack, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Dinah Washington, Frank Sinatra, Queen, Michael Jackson, Ella Fitzgerald you will enjoy her performances a lot. If you let me know which artists from the past you really like, I can make you a list. I'd still recommend going back in time to see her perform at NGT. I gave you a link in the other reaction.
She does have an album 'It's Magic' with a lot of covers and two originals. It is on Spotify but you can also buy it. She is also working on a new album and I can't wait for it to be released.
An objective statement which cover is best, is indeed impossible. You can decide for yourself which one you like best however. I love Angelina's version with all the richness in her voice.
I agree Suspicious Minds was a total remake and this one she makes her own in a more subtle one: she plays with the rhythm, pauses, throws in a bunch of vocal fry and adds a lot of depth and warmth in her song. Her runs are a little different and here and there a word. If you listen to Whitney's version back to back with this, the differences become more apparent.
I am definitely into older music more than I am current which is why I have been enjoying watching Angelina so much. I have been choosing songs that I know well because I can make instant comparisons to the originals whereas I can not do that with less familiar songs. So far she has blew me away with everything that she has done and I am definitely looking forward to watching so much more.

Angelina covered this song in 2019 and an homage to Whitney in the key of C, like Whitney. This time Angelina covered the song in the key of E.
Seriously it will be difficult to find a better cover. The fullness, the richness, of her tone is unmatched . The talent she has to get to the pure essence of the song is unmatched too. Even Whitney didn't have this talent. Now I invite you to listen to the live version she did this summer...even better. You must no about this live version that she did two in a row., due to the fact that there was to much wind in the first take they did. Now knowing how difficult this song is to sing, it's quite a performance in its self.

You are right that this is much more of a cover than Suspicious Minds - though still made beautifully her own I think (and I prefer her deeper, richer tones to Whitney ) - and as someone said on another recent reaction, it's not quintessential Angelina (though she cannot be pigeon-holed)... I would really strongly encourage you now to go back to the beginning and try her songs from when she was 6, 7 (Norway's Got Talent), 8 (What a different a day makes live, Fly me to the moon on The View and so on ), 9 (I Put a Spell on You - a MUST), 10 (she was incredible by 10 ! )... that will really show you how amazing she is as a jazz prodigy

If you want to see a song that really shows off the singer (AJ), see the B&W of "I Put a Spell on You" when she was 9. You should strap into your chair though; listeners have been known to fall out.🤣

But for me, the low notes in this perfomance are warmer and richer than the original. Especially the vocal fry.

I have witnessed first hand just how supportive her fans are to reactors. I am still trying to reply to all of the comments 2 days later lol. I reacted to her sing Valerie earlier today and she blew me away. She reminded me of a young Amy Winehouse but having to choose between the two I would choose Angelina. Now you need to listen to her original cover of this song three years prior. That's a great suggestion, Gary. Her original cover was more like Angelina staying within the main parameters of the WH version just to add her own twists and challenge her limits. She certainly got a lot of new attention from that effort. Until she did her newest versions (here and at her concerts) that early one was the best cover of that song I had ever heard.

I think Whitney's studio version still holds the top spot, but Angelina singing it live at 12 or 13 was always a favorite. I do REALLY like her more recent covers of it, but that one is special and shouldn't be overlooked just because it was in the past. Imagine if she did that with songs. 😉 We wouldn't have all the amazing music we now have.
@@musicluvr70 Yes, you brought up a good point. WH never hit that high note near the end during a live performance. I've heard reactors say Angelina seemed to barely be able to make it. They never mention the fact that this is live and she had the courage to go for it anyway.

There is one person I can think of who has performed this song with such emotion, her name is Whitney Housten. Angelina Jordan covered this song because of her admiration for Whitney Housten and I reacted to this because of my admiration for them both. I didnt say that I dont like this cover. Anybody who can sing this song as well as she did deserves the recognition but Albert is correct, I am just expressing myself with honesty. Since this song released on the channel I have gone to react to Billie Jean, Bohemian Rhapsody, I Put A Spell On You, Yesterday and more and in every one she has blown me away but I stand by my initial reaction every time.

I love cover songs, I went through a phase a while ago where it was all I would listen to. There is nothing better than listening to someone sing a song a making it their own. I watched Bohemian Rhapsody and that blew me away just as much as I Put A Spell On You did. Screaming Jay Hawkins is soon on the list but I have plenty to get through if I want to catch up with everyone.
Daz, I disagree with your assertion that their will be much better covers of this song. The song is what it is, a stand alone master work. Therefore, there is only so much a vocalist can do without changing the arrangement to the point of having their version be unrecognizable. As of right now, sixteen year old Angelina’s cover stands alone as the best there is. Period.

Oh puh-leeeze.. I hope you're not going to be like every other reactor??? 😱. Everyone else ALWAYS compares, or wants her to perform, sing and sound exactly like the original artist... I SINCERELY hope that sooner rather than later you'll realize Angelina is an ARTIST... Believe me I know she doesnt sound like the original artist. I have noticed that in watching Suspicous Minds, Billie Jean, Bohemian Rhapsody and a few more but in this one it sounded more like a cover than the others I have watched. It is just my personal opinion and not based on what any other reactors do. There could come a time when I listen to one of her songs and just simply dont like it as much as others but that is the whole point of reacting. There are artists out there who I could listen to all day long but that doesnt mean everything they have ever recorded. At the moment I have loved listening to everything she has done so far but will always give honest opinions back.
