  • Welcome back! In this video I show how I improved and lifted the stock suspension on my Honda XL 650 V Transalp to avoid bottoming up while offroading, and gain some ground clearance.

I like this common sense approach, modifying the bike to suit your needs. It shows that you are looking at the problems and thinking it through, rather than googling what everyone else has done. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but this is much more creative and entertaining.

Thank you. I like to make my bikes fit my use as much as possible, in a budget friendly way if I can. There is a lot of information on the internet, but you have to do your homeworks to understand what would work better for you, and sometimes think out of the box. I share what I did in case the experience may be useful for others. Cheers!

Very cool and informative videos, like so much. 😊
For the too short side stand I heard you can use Africa one, which is higher than Transalp.

Great videos, its given me inspiration to lift mine. You mention the side stand is easy on the 700, I've checked your other videos but you've not mentioned it again. Is there one from another bike that fits?
    Thanks

Thanks mate! On the 700 you can use the side stand from a 650, which is slightly longer. It is what I have on my Transalp 700 right now. For the 650 you need to modify the side stand by cutting it in half and welding a thread in one side and a nut in the other. Then with another nut you have an adjustable side stand. I don't know if there's side stands from different bikes that would fit. Cheers!

Do you know if the with springs for 650 will fit the 700? If they are longer they might help with riding the front in 700 (basicslly acting as preload increse, since you will fit longer spring in shorter stroke fork).

Hi there! In fact, the springs on the 700 are longer, 62cm for 60cm on the 650. The tubes of the fork are also longer on the 700. That's to compensate for the smaller wheel on the 700 (19 inches). On both, the Wirth springs are a few mm longer, not much. The opposite may work fine, 700 springs on the 650, as they are also slightly stiffer. Cheers!

Вы сравнили задний амортизатор 650 и 700 разницы никакой нет, они одинковые , а передние амортизаторы у 700 и 650 одинаковые или разные ???? (Have you compared the rear shock absorber 650 and 700, there is no difference, they are the same, and the front shock absorbers 700 and 650 are the same or different????)

Hi there! I have a specific video about the rear shock. Measurements are the same, but not the inner settings. The shock in the 700 feels stiffer:

The front fork is different, tubes and springs are longer on the 700 to compensate the smaller front wheel.
