I totally agree! I have read the book, but listening to Cheere read it is more interesting and certainly more fun. Parts of Mountbatten's life are just unbelievable or unthinkable yet amazingly true!
Yaaaay, they're back and happy to be one of 100 devotees😊 👍. So glad you are persevering with this book, I have really enjoyed it so far. Dickie was a paradox and I have to admit that the times I recall seeing him on TV primarily in the 70's, I could never get past his weaselly, shifty eyes. You always make me howl when you come across something questionable/dodgy, then look at the camera and say "interesting" as only you can 😂. Thank you.
Thank you, cheere! I know some may not be excited to finish out this book but I AM! This crazy dude is still relevant. His influence has his mark on many people today! What’s not to love about learning!?!??!!! He is warped and so are his dear friends.
Cheere, thank you for returning to this book…..Cannot wait to get to the end….Best wishes to you & your family for 2025….Looking forward to lots more books 📚📖📖
Thank you so much for continuing this. I think Dickie staying with Edwina was because he refused to be wrong or be a failure and he saw divorce as both of those things. Again thank you for doing this for such a small audience. 😊
Thanks Cheere, this book as been long (maybe longer than it needed to be) but super interesting and a fascinating eye opener into how most super rich people in the UK and US all know each other lol appreciate the effort to finish it and your hair looks fab ! colour is divine.
Thank you so, so much for continuing with this! I appreciate there aren’t many of us who want to continue with this book ( and I completely understand the financial reasons for reviewing other tomes), but it’s so interesting! ❤
I had forgotten about poor Louis! I can't recall where we left him. Widowed and, err, yeah, that's it. I do enjoy it, I was enjoying it but then, you literary hussy, you lured us away with Kennedys! Alright we were easily led, I admit it. The weather here is foul, snow on the way and I have a fresh cup of Rosie, perfectly English way of hearing this. Thank you.
Thanks for coming back to this! It's a fascinating story and with links still to the modern day. Are you looking forward to Andrew Lownie's new book on the Yorks? Can't wait!
How lovely to see your channel grow! Have been enjoying your reading /reviews, balanced comments and very witty impersonations for quite a while now. Looking forward your content in 2025.
So glad you are finishing this book. I've missed it. Whenever you post, anything, l have to stop what l'm doing so that l can hear your infletions in your voice. Thank you for the time that you spend on reading to us.
Perfect present on this 11th day of Christmas! Thanks, Cheere, for picking this book back up! I appreciate what you are up against, but I also appreciate you for coming back and finishing this book.
I'm glad you're still doing this book. Because honestly, I don't know if I'd have been able to get through it on my own even though I'm so interested in him. You know what I mean? I'll wager a lot of the others who like it feel the same way.
Thanks for picking this up! I completely understand your approach to more mainstream content. I’m so thankful for your covering subjects I never knew I was interested in!
I am so happy you did another video on this book. But, we all have to make a living. I have confidence that by New Year's Day next year you will have doubled your subscribers.
I can't remember if you've talked about the massive trouble Lownie had trying to get access to Dickie's papers at the public university that bought them. He said he'd spent a half million pounds on legal fees. I suspect from the last section you read that D spent a lot of his retirement sifting out what he didn't want anyone to see--but then why restrict access so severely?
Thank you for this. Much appreciated. I think that from what we know, he was an odious and dangerous person.. One valuable aspect of these books is that it helps to explain some aspects of the Kin and his attitudes, given the huge influence Mountbatten was to him.
I'm pleased you are continuing with the Mountbattens. I've enjoyed these readings and am, frankly, bored to near tears with the antics of the H&M show. And Ethyl can wait a bit. It will be interesting to see how you skirt politics if RFK, Jr gets his cabinet position. Interesting that RFK got awarded the Medal of Freedom just this past week and RFK, Jr was not asked to accept it.
Hey, you are providing great entertainment and i appreciate it. I will go back and listen to the rest of your review of this book. They were a scandalous couple for the times and i remember hearing my mum and dad talk about them in hushed tones. Im from the UK and my parents were born in the 1920's so they wouldve have been of their time, roughly. I think he was a desperately ambitious and conniving man, who would stop at nothing to achieve what he wanted. He had apparently wanted his daughter to marry Prince Charles and therefore be closer to the crown.
Cheere I'd listen to you read me a novel of the world's worst poetry, ok??? 😂😂😂 I think I speak for about 99% of your viewers when I say, Gurrrrl, we get it! Do your Thang, make that money and by all means do what ya gotta do to entice more subs to your brilliant channel! The more the merrier! I know I'm totally here for ANYTHING you're reading because I never cease to be amused, entertained, informed and delighted. Bravo on your growing channel.... so Flippin NICE to see a clever, wholesome, literate and unique channel beginning to bloom. Cheers, Cheere! 🩷💕💝💗💝💓
I think understanding Mountbatten is extremely important in the context of Prince Philip and King Charles and the RF's overall protectionist attitude to the private lives of certain of their members. There is nothing straightforward about Dickie Mountbatten and I think when you read through to the end, it will all make more sense -- including the relationship between he and Edwina.
I basically agree with the popular opinion that the Ethel book is more interesting and fun than this one. But I DEEPLY appreciate your decision to go back and wrap ol' Louis Mountbatten up, so to speak. I hope 2025 will bring you 100 subscribers. You deserve it!
The alleged poor shooting of Lord Mountbatten, who usually worked hard to gain expertise at any competitive practice, might be compared with the shooting of Prince Philip, his nephew. In •My Twenty Years in Buckingham Palace• by F. J. Corbitt (New York, 1956), p. 203, we read: “The ghillies and the stalkers [… .] declared [Prince Philip] in those days to be a poor shot and rather erratic. “It is a tribute to him that the same men who summed him up in that way in 1946 now have high praise for him as a shot. In this, as in so many other directions, Prince Philip has shown that when he makes up his mind to do a thing, he will do it as well as anyone else, and better than most.”
Cheere I follow all of your books and recently I’ve gone back to watch the books you reviewed before I found your channel. Thank you for what you do. I couldn’t afford to buy all of these books myself so it’s appreciated. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I feel very much like I owe Cheere an apology. I’ve been one of those who wished this book would be completed because I was enjoying it so much! It was worth the wait! However now understanding her point of view, I wish I would better thought of things from her point of view. I didn’t realize that she uses this channel to make money for her family. Please accept my apologies! And thank you for being a wonderful part of my day!
When Cheere started this channel she did not require money for it. People asked about a tip jar and she graciously declined. Obviously her circumstances changed
thank you for continuing with this book...I thought you had completed it, and it was so juicy that our platform hosts weren't letting me access the remaining chapters 😂.
So happy to hear another reading from this book!!! Put me in that group of the 100 that love this book!!! Thank you Cheere!!!
+1
Whoop, thank you for persevering with this. I know it doesn't get the views, but some of us do love your commentary and thoughts.
I totally agree! I have read the book, but listening to Cheere read it is more interesting and certainly more fun. Parts of Mountbatten's life are just unbelievable or unthinkable yet amazingly true!
I agree. I was disappointed when I thought this one had been abandoned
What happened to Ethel Kennedy?
I am enjoying this book, thank you for persevering. Some of us are thoroughly sick of Meghan Markle!
Yes, she & Harry have always bored me! 😴. Also bored with pop culture.
Great, another Mountbatten chapter!!! ❤
Wow, what a pleasure to hear another reading. Thank you!

Same here with the "interesting" thingy comment ☺
Thank you for returning to this book!
Hurray the Mountbattens are back!
So glad to see this back!!!
Thank you, cheere! I know some may not be excited to finish out this book but I AM! This crazy dude is still relevant. His influence has his mark on many people today! What’s not to love about learning!?!??!!! He is warped and so are his dear friends.
Thank you Cheere, we get it, I’m one of those 100 so I appreciate you going back to this book.
I have really enjoyed your reading of this book!
Thank you very much for continuing reading this book. 😉
Cheere…we all enjoy your videos and comments!!!! Thank you so very much for your grand efforts 😂 ❤
Cheere, thank you for returning to this book…..Cannot wait to get to the end….Best wishes to you & your family for 2025….Looking forward to lots more books 📚📖📖
Thank you for continuing this book. May you have a very blessed year ❤
Yay, Mountbattens! It’s a good backstory to Traitor King, which I’m catching up on.
Thanks for returning to this one!
Charles Dance played Mountbatten exceptionally well The Crown. He even looked like a recent relative.
Thank you Cheere, it's fascinating to get to the end of this book.
Thank you so much for continuing this. I think Dickie staying with Edwina was because he refused to be wrong or be a failure and he saw divorce as both of those things. Again thank you for doing this for such a small audience. 😊

I missed this. A great palate cleanser from so much Kennedy/Skakel drama 😒🙄😑
@@onesunnyday5699 I am so delightful to be one of the 100 🤣
Delighted…even! I am also delightful 🤣🤣🤣
Glad to see you got back to this book, although I've been enjoying your look at the Kennedys.

Thank you... very happy the Mountbattens are back.
One of the few here, that are fascinated with this book. Thanks for giving us another installment.
I enjoy whatever book you read.
I was going to say the exact thing!!!
Thank you, Cheere. I appreciate that this is a ton of work and time for you. Truely, thank you ❤
I'm a total anglophile and I love your commentary, thank you!
I'm with you! My parents were both born in the UK, so it's in the blood!
Cheere's voices, gesticularations, and facial expressions slay me and are priceless!
I am also one of the 100!, at this stage Cheere I would listen to you read the phone book!!! xxx
From what I read Dickie never wanted the open marriage but went along with it to please Edwina, and yes, they both swung both ways.
Thank you for continuing. I can now resubscribe and start listening to Ethel's story again ❤
Hi Thanks for ocntinuing this book. I dont know why, but I am enjoying it. Especially with your amazement about their behaviour :P
I'm so glad to get back to this book. I been hoping we could finish it.
I personally salute you my dear girl! SALUTE!!!❤
Perfect present on this 11th day of Christmas! Thanks, Cheere, for picking this book back up! I appreciate what you are up against, but I also appreciate you for coming back and finishing this book.

I watch you because you create wonderful videos! I’ll watch whatever you put out! Thank you for all your hard work❤
Thanks for coming back to Lord Louie, fascinating.
So happy to see you today!

You mean King Charles III ?
I love that your subs are going up steadily! Well deserved. Can’t wait till you get to 100k!
Hello I’m looking forward to this ❤️🇬🇧 I love this book
Ohhhhh!!! I thought you have forsaken this book altogether and I’m glad you didn’t! Thank you!
Hear hear
Fabulous! A late Christmas present for us all. Thank you.
I am always excited when I see a video pop up from you. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Thank you!
Yay! Another Mountnatten chapter!
Thank you Cheere Denise. I have missed it. It might not be popular but it remains very interesting.

I am so glad this is back. Understand your reasoning for delay, but glad you’re making time for it. Thank you. 😊

Cheer-es to Twelfth Night… with Cheere!🎀💗Now, let’s see where Dickie’s bound next
Blessed, I am - to be here on Twelve Night in good cheer with you & Cheere 🙏
Twelfth Night indeed! The last day of Christmas --- and I never can remember the final gifts. Had to look it up! Twelve drummers drumming. 😆
Cheere - I’d love to hear you cover any books about the late Queen’s overseas royal tours.
The BEST book!
Thank you so much for sticking with this book Cheere....even if its just for the hundred of us that look forward to this series. 🥰🥰🥰
The Vintage Book Club has a very interesting interview with the author. It shows how difficult it is to write a nonfiction book in "free speech" UK.
I sometimes need a break from a book too!
I basically agree with the popular opinion that the Ethel book is more interesting and fun than this one. But I DEEPLY appreciate your decision to go back and wrap ol' Louis Mountbatten up, so to speak.

Thank you for this!!!!!!
I am enjoying your insightful commentary and book review. Your videos are delightful.
Thank you for persevering. I do appreciate how lacklustre this book is compared to others.
Oh, Dickie. Can only control the narrative so long.
Nice work!
Thank you!!!
Yes!!
