- Clearing windfalls with a crosscut saw. Good free winter winter time exercise and starts the firewood pile for next winter. Also checked out my rubber bungee saw partner. Some cuts were made with a rubber bungee tied to the end of the saw to pull the saw back. Most of my effort was pulling on the saw with very little pushing. With the rubber bungee the saw ran smoother and straighter. There seemed to be about a 10 to 15% sawing time savings with the bungee but that does not count the time it takes the rig the rope and bungee.
Хорошая работа. Респект!
Very nice! good idea with the bungee
WOW----Youse guys are fast.
I just picked up a 4' saw on ebay. Looking forward to putting it to use.
in lithuania that wood can be sailed for 30-40 dolars/1m3
Hi Jim, I'm up in Arlington, I've been enjoying your videos. What is the length of that saw?
Do you recommend a good place to find one?
This saw is about 50" long. It started life as a 7' bucking saw that was broke/cut off. It is a stiff saw and works very well. You can find saws many places, Craig s List, eBay, flea markets, garage sales and such. Good luck.
Thanks!
this tree is to good for fire
Actually the unsound heart wood extended quite a ways up the tree. Yes some lumber could have been cut from the upper part but I have too much lumber now and needed the firewood more. Thanks for looking.
I find more two mans in my area. do you think that trick would work well with them? they seem to have a longer but smaller blade.
Yes, I believe that the longer and more limber the saw then the more useful this trick would be when sawing with one man. It is almost mandatory when falling with a single sawyer and long saw because gravity will tend to make the saw bow on the push stroke and the far end of the saw will sag down.
What a huge waste of good hardwood that could have been used for furniture. let me guess you're american ?
Actually it is a partly rotten western hemlock, a low value softwood.
Ok, i see. It looks like good timber wood.
Jim Thode how long did it actually take for each cut? Also, would a reciprocating saw cut through that diameter ok? That is the only saw I can use currently, for cutting firewood.
How did you get the tree onto those other pieces of wood?
