I remember some fans advised Shane to hire an editor because on Twitter he always talked about how hard editing was and how he had to stay up all night. He made it seem like a real burden. Shane then lashed out at these fans essentially saying “how dare you criticize me when I work so hard to make these videos for you” really rubbed me the wrong way even as a fan. They were just trying to help you.
Dying because at 37:57 he said "Congratulations to Ryland and Jeffree for their engagement" 😭😭 like he really does not care about these rich people's lives and I'm so here for it
The robbery was later claimed to be $2.5mil but the police report said $10k (the damages actually total more than the theft at a $30k.) But they probably didn't account for the Red Bull, so.
Then Jeffrey said it's because he would've made 2.5 mil in profits from the 10k of materials stolen, so that's an insane mark up on the price there, so much for the "best quality" makeup
@@jayjayjayjay1067 Which I find funny because he makes a point in the "documentary" of saying his markup isn't nearly as high as other brands. Hmm. I just feel like the math doesn't work, Jeff. 🤔 Besides the point because that's still not a $2.5mil LOSS. He paid $10k, that's what he lost. I can say "omigod I was gonna sell these $.05 lip liners for $1500 each!" But it still only costs $10k to replace the goods and then make his bag. Plus the publicity of the robbery ... How "inside" was this job?
Was there an actual police report? I watched a video (I know super reliable source) but it said there was no police report, that only one new source reported on the robbery because they got info directly from Jeffree Star's team. The video suggested the whole robbery was fake and a PR move.
“I’m sorry that your day of riding in an SUV with 5 people who all have the same haircut was ruined” NICK my mouth dropped 😂 you out do yourself every episode
I can't believe he was like "next time I'm not even apologizing, I'm just plugging in my palette" and everyone was okay with that. Like this shows that he only apologizes because he has to, not because he is sorry or wants to improve in any way. I hope he is not welcome when he returns, not until he shows real remorse.
Him saying he didn’t have sex with the cat was always odd to me because nobody said at first that he did that. In the podcast he said he rubbed himself against the cat’s belly. I feel like he was changing the argument a lot about the cat thing. After his “I didn’t f*ck my cat” comment a lot of people just assumed that the rumor was that he actually penetrated the cat. I personally think teenage Shane was gross enough to rub himself on the cat. It’s not like that kind of act is incredibly uncommon. As a side note, he wasn’t very nice to that cat (Snoop) He’d squeeze the cat to make him meow on camera. I don’t know if anyone else remembers that. I also wonder if there’s any truth to the borderline incestuous thoughts he said he had about his mom. I understand shock humor but when Shane’s actually joking he’s always let it be known by saying “I’m just kidding of course” or whatever. Some things he just says like it’s a story from his past he feels bad about. We all know that Shane isn’t a good actor or very good at dry humor. It’s just weird that he sounds so convincing when talking about some of his messed up thoughts and behaviors.

Is it just me or did Shane "anxious baby bou uwu" mask slip when he was in bed saying he just didnt want to apologize for the cat thing? Like it didnt come off as "ugh I wish I wasnt so anxious and eager to please people, I'd love to be the type of person who's just like 'fuck you look at my merch" it was "for fucks sake I've apologized for this already just look at my fucking merch instead".

I appreciate people breaking this series down for me because I bought into it at a time I was incredibly depressed and down on my luck. I just wanted an escape and Shane’s content was long enough to pass the time and gave me this thing to look forward to. Now with a clear head I can see how I was choosing to ignore controversy for convenience and these two did a good job of manipulating my emotions at a time I was already feeling very sorry for myself.
How did you just write down my life story??? For real though, you are absolutely not alone in your experiences. His manipulation specifically targeted vulnerable audiences, esp kids and depressed people. He MANIPULATED you. And not only you, but every single one of his viewers. That’s on him, not on you. I’m glad you’ve gotten out of that place
I was in the same position. Stumbled upon Shane's spooky series and docu-series like Renting A Baby For A Day or whatever during nights of major insomnia, and those videos were super comforting to me. I watched a few back a couple of months ago and it's so weird the little things you notice like how Shane always has to have the last word. If someone makes a joke, he has to make a joke too. If he can't think of a joke, he insults the person.
Don't worry, I somehow bought into it as well. I even considered buying the palette after it was all over because I felt like after 8 episodes, I kinda had to? Now I look back on all of it and it seems so cringe and fake.
i will never understand how ppl thought this was a “good” series. i remember watching this with my ex friend and her being IN LOVE with the editing and shane and andrew giggling at the “jokes” they made, i always found these docu series so cringy and try-hard.
* cries in having been that ex-friend * Luckily I grew a brain. But kid me was so used to being manipulated by everyone around em, no wonder they fell for Shane’s act.
Well he's also being very manipulative. And people who were raised in manipulative households or experience some sort of trauma go one of two ways They either can notice a toxic, manipulative, person from a mile away Or they Can't. I was in my late teens when I watched his stuff, still unable to really pick out toxic behaviors. Don't be mad at someone because they fell for the manipulation Be angry at the manipulator (And I'm not saying you need to have trauma in order to fall for manipulation or be able to pick it out. Just more common for those people to come in contact with people due to their boundaries being off or people being able to tell their traumatized and the manipulator choosing them Due to that trauma. People with healthy boundaries would cut that bull out Real quick)
I admittedly enjoyed some of his previous series at the time they came out. I wasn't familiar with his previous content, and no one was talking about what a piece of trash he was at the time. But even when this one came out, I thought it was bad and dragged on way too long 😩 it could have been interesting to see how the makeup was made, except for the whole jeffree thing, but this was just boring asf
That sucks. Don’t beat yourself up too bad though. I remember trying to tell my girlfriend at the time that Shane has bad vibes and hadn’t actually changed but she’s just a genuinely super sweet and trusting person so she feel for it too. They manipulated people and took advantage of people being trusting and forgiving.
you weren't duped, shane was hugely popular for a reason, it can still be fun to watch mid content by people who have done awful things - same as people who used to like harry potter, they weren't wrong just because joanne has Concerns About Women's Spaces
"So I'm like, alright. How do we use this to our advantage?" Shane summed up literally *every* thought he's ever had in one line. Wow. Didn't know a human being could be truly one-dimensional but am I wrong?

The internet: “Jeffree legit is part of the mob, he operates exactly like they do.” The mob: “What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point, in your rambling, incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.”
Everyone calling idiots on RUclips “master manipulators” are similarly giving people way too much credit. They aren’t master manipulators or we wouldn’t see it so obviously- they’re just persistent liars and gaslighting manipulators. Cough, Onision. Cough, Gabbie Hanna. Cough, JStar and Shane. I still think he did something to his cat, no normal person thinks of a long story about how they abused their cat. It flowed naturally as if he wasn't thinking too hard to come up with something, and it definitely was not scripted
Yeah I think he did something too. It feels like such a bizarre joke otherwise? But I never watched him or shock humor so maybe that joke was like, in style then?
imo yes cuz it really sounded like he was telling a coming of age story, even ppl who would joke about something as gross as that would not have went into the detail he did
@@ko379 It would be different if he said it in a sketch or something. Like, you script sketches, you think about bad jokes/shock humor. The way he said it on an unscripted podcast so fluidly makes me think he did it. I don't know if shock humor was Shane Dawson's 2017 audience's favorite thing (it definitely was before). I think he was making cooking videos at that time which attracted a new audience?
Yeah, I'm like mostly convinced it happened because I was (at the time) an active listener to his podcast around 2015/6-17 then I stopped as soon as he had J* as a guest. The cat story was not treated as a joke. His co-host (Lauren, his manager at the time) was horrified and did not take it well. He at no point clarified it as a joke. So, personally, I don't believe him.
hi. you should breakdown Shane's horror short "It Gets Worse". I'd say that it's a step above Shane's normal work. he shows a higher level of self-awareness in it, and the cinematography is better. Then again, Shane didn't even direct it.
The thing with Jeffree arranging colors was so damn ridiculous. I never watched that far into the series and I’m just baffled by how… bad actors they actually are.
Nick is out here enduring Shane's content so we can still live our best lives without directly coming in contact with that toxicity, and for that, we thank u!!!
Nah, it would bring all the dumb stans over and honestly, Nick would EAT these dummies alive on this app, I’d just hate to see him have to use all his wit that way. I think sticking to the niche of film/tv/digital content with his obvious expertise is a great niche nobody can do like he does.
the fact that his fans can watch Shane whine about his true feelings on his scandals, as shown in this episode, explains a lot about the mentality of his die-hards who have been buying his mystery boxes and openly excited about his return to the internet. their standards are clearly pretty low. the dude never made a decent apology for the depth and severity of the allegations and dug up old content. but he's still slithering his way back into the public eye. he won't change and his fans are enablers, so what incentive would he have to change anyway?
If Nick covers the whole Tati Westbrook “Bye Sister” thing, I want him to do it like he’s a beauty youtuber and do makeup the whole time, but to make it look like he’s absolutely insane, and a smoky eye. Also, is that Little Momma’s lipgloss? Because it is poppin’.
All jokes aside, this is literally my favorite channel on RUclips. I don’t miss a SINGLE one of your videos and I swear I’ve seen them all since I found you during the Shane scandal last year. You’re so lovely, Nick!!
i love and watch your channel religiously as well as love all the points u make, so when u mentioned how their handful of dogs is like having 72 pets and how much you'd hate being in a house with that many, i'm here hiding the view of my 20+ animals like :) yes i too agree that having more than 2 pets is ridiculous :)

Based on the behind the scenes of the movie "Not cool" even friends/ professionals telling him this or that is wrong will lead to him being mean and ignoring them because in his mind he is always right 😒 Also loving all of these commentaries ❤
"I love you like you are my own ass." Gonna start using that one. And if Shane freaked out about Jeffree arranging those colors, wait'll he sees a Rubik's cube.
Shane Dawson: "I'm not gonna let it affect me." Also Shane Dawson: "Yeah, let's get some long takes of me having a breakdown and a bunch of headlines about all of my scandals while I talk at length about how put out I am by this whole thing and how it's literally ruining my life."
I still feel sick that I ever supported Shane, his channel or his makeup. I watched the series and enjoyed it because I liked the parts that were about the makeup - creating it, naming it, making it, swatching it. That was what I wanted to see and just put up with the 90% of it that wasn't that. I have never had any kind of liking for Jeffree and Shane's prior series did nothing to change that, so I was watching solely to see Shane's experience of stepping into makeup. At that point, the only thing I had seen of Shane were some conspiracy videos and the long-form videos he'd done at that point. I didn't know anything about the other stuff from past years. Obviously, I was aware of Shane's existence but I was too old to care about people like Shane, Onision, Smosh etc back in the day. When I saw some of the things Shane had done and said over the course of many years I was shocked and disgusted. I couldn't believe that it was just allowed to exist and nothing happened as a consequence. Shane was somehow able to completely rebrand himself to the opposite of his former online persona and everyone just accepted it. When I saw The Chair, that was the moment I knew what absolute hogwash his more recent persona was. I cannot see how anyone could change that much over a few years. He had a massive ego, was unbearably rude, thought he could do everyone else's jobs better than they could, was dismissive of others to the point that I don't know how he had any cast or crew left because he belittled them all so badly. He was better than anyone else and he only wanted people that would tell him so. This anxious, self-depracating empath that is endearingly clueless of his own worth that he now pportrays himself to be in his own videos, when he has total control of the narrative, is completely disingenuous. The person he was shown to be in The Chair, when he was shot candidly and couldn't dictate what was put out to the world, showed someone utterly different. There were a lot of things that I was disgusted by when I learned more about Shane, but the way he sexualised children is enough for me to know I will never give him any kind of support ever again.

The fact that they filmed organizing the shades in a poorly lit kitchen on a distracting marble counter so you couldn't even see anything really tells me all i need to know.
That part gave me Televangelist or TV astrology vibes for some reason and idfk why. I think it's the artificial importance imposed unto the scene while he's literally just shuffling tiny plastic tubs around and making himself sound important 💀
@@definitelynotashark1799 omg you’re so right!
I hated that part when they made it sound like the Red Bull theft was “personal.” Bihhh Red Bull is expensive, it gets stolen from grocery stores all the damn time, especially for reselling purposes.
Agreed but also, it's got to be one of the most popular drinks in the world, maybe they just like Red Bull lol
Damn straight. A bitch was about to pick up a twelve pack but had to reconsider after realizing it cost $20😬
I work at walmart and can confirm energy drinks like red bull, cosmetics and diapers are the most common items we catch people attempting to steal. Cause they’re all dumb expensive.

"creator of some of the most bulky make-up packaging on Earth.." The way you squeeze in amuse bouche sized shade is masterful. Entertaining work as per usual.
This appeals to my rich white woman lifestyle as everything has to be small sized from food to dogs to shade.
Perfectly described!
"And im donating to PETA," honestly that would of been the worst way to prove he didn't abuse his cat

He definitely would’ve gotten more support if he donated to a local shelter.

Please the red bull part took me out 💀
@@jayjayjayjay1067 Which I find funny because he makes a point in the "documentary" of saying his markup isn't nearly as high as other brands.

A year later and I still come back to this video just for that quote. It was a total death blow. I love it.
The way he would go from 0 to 100 whenever the phone rang has me rolling
Hahaha idk why it’s like the only thing that makes me visibly angry
I noticed that too and it just makes me feel really icky.
"This is understudy behavior" has to be one of the most cutting roasts I've ever heard.

I'm happy to hear you're doing better. Hang in there, you got this. ☺
I was 100% in the same space and even bought the palette. But it’s okay because you’ve grown and are in a better place now.
i will never understand how ppl thought this was a “good” series. i remember watching this with my ex friend and her being IN LOVE with the editing and shane and andrew giggling at the “jokes” they made, i always found these docu series so cringy and try-hard.
There's a reason she's your ex friend 💀tbh

Luckily I grew a brain. But kid me was so used to being manipulated by everyone around em, no wonder they fell for Shane’s act.
Well he's also being very manipulative.
And people who were raised in manipulative households or experience some sort of trauma go one of two ways
They either can notice a toxic, manipulative, person from a mile away
Or they Can't.
I was in my late teens when I watched his stuff, still unable to really pick out toxic behaviors.
Don't be mad at someone because they fell for the manipulation
Be angry at the manipulator
(And I'm not saying you need to have trauma in order to fall for manipulation or be able to pick it out.
I am so humiliated to admit they totally duped me. I was literally crying watching them getting engaged.

Right?! His scripts/documentaries are so shit he couldn't pull off such a disgusting, fluid story. He makes me sick
27:39 I don't care if he's joking, False Modesty is a genuinely good eyeshadow name
Shane’s entire series is a masterclass is gaslighting.
Your one-liners have me clutching my gd pearls. 😂
I love seeing your channel grow, you deserve to thrive nick 😩❤🙏🏻
