Catching your review of Family's "Old Songs/New Songs" compels me to comment here for the first time since I began to watch and listen here about a year ago. Family has been a personal favorite of mine since 1971. Thanks for that, and for your honest viewpoints and musical knowledge.
There’s the other ‘Family’ band: ‘The Family’ …Prince’s protege group w/Nothing Compares to You’ song. So many band names and album/song titles get reused especially when it’s in the common vernacular…..some get legal action to change, e.g. Yazoo which needed to change to Yaz in 1982, due to an American Yazoo band…. then late 80s another ‘Yaz’ performer used/stole the ‘Yaz’ name.
I was at that clash of the titans show too in Baltimore. And you’re right , a year later those same people were Alice In Chains fans . But they booed them . Closed minded metalheads . Slayer was on fire that night.
About Popol Vuh, I remember years ago getting a little confused about their discography as there was a self-entitled 1972 album and Quiche Maya in 1973 and they were on Polydor. I wasn't aware the German band was ever on that label. Turns out that was the Norwegian band and after those two albums they had to change their name to Popol Ace because they found out about the German group and to avoid further confusion or legal issues.
Derek have you ever catalogued by genre? I know with my collection which Im working on . I had a room full of vinyl before the vinyl purge in the cd days. Im torn between organizing by genre or Alphabetically.

When I was young I did for awhile. I disliked it.
What year was the Alice In Chains concert , early 90s ?
1990.
Shame what happened to Layne, you think overdoses will continue to have a negative impact on musicians , may increase perhaps ?
Humans are humans. Nothing new.
