The Doors were really the West Coast Beatles to me. They were so unique and when I saw them play live they were even better. Jim was hypnotizing and you couldn't take your eyes off him. Ray Manzarek played that organ with a kind of drone to it which really resonated with those of us who were on LSD. Just with the words and music to their songs you could go on a beautiful trip. They were also mysterious on some of their songs. It was a joy to see their creativity coming to the forefront.

Hi Terry. It is wonderful that you have a lot of money in this realm, but it will mean absolutely nothing in the next realm. We have each chosen to enter the realm of the physical in order to "experience" that which we know of ourselves in spirit. In effect, each of us is the aperture through which the universe experiences itself. Ha. Ha. No, I do not do this for a living. I have spent the last five years researching the meaning of our existence. My personal truth changes as I continue to experience life and come across new research. My understanding is that in the next realm, which is really just a temporary stopping point between incarnations, a soul can have anything it chooses to have including witnessing a live performance by one of the greatest bands to ever grace our realm. Take care. Mac

Jim Morrison Mr.Mojo Rison himself, Ray Manzerik, Robbie Kreiger, John Densmore The Doors. One of the very very very very best bands of rock that has ever existed. If jim would have lived no doubt they would have given Zep a run for there money and even maybe take their rock crown away? In my opinion there only 4 truly above great almost god like bands. Which is difficult too say since the 60s and 70s were such great periods in music with alot of great bands and great music. I think in my opinion I narrowed down too 4 . Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink Floyd and The Beatles. The Doors was so amazingly good there sound powerful haunting and melodic too the extreme. Real inovaters in sound and in music. One of the best ever and ever and ever bands The Doors!!!!!

Abheeshta Rao no doubt the doors would be #1 no matter what!!!! (: Back then early 60s they were already so far ahead of there time in music that they literally touched and played with every musical medium or category that every later 70s and 80s bands would try too redevelope and try too make new and or try too pass it off as their own musical creation!!!! Even in the later part in their career in the early 1970 s The doors were still so far ahead and on top of there game despite Jim's crazyness or gensius because nobody real new if sometimes he was sober or not???? Other maybe the other members of doors knew? I also think that there were times he fooled them also!!!! Hell there were times he fooled everybody!!!! Jim was gensius in creating not just in music alone but with his whole life especially with the audience!!!! He was an expert of taping on a nerve whether positively or negatively too get a powerful reaction from the crowd!!! Then ultimately create a breeding ground were caous could form at any time!!! The true puppet master!!! Jim Morrison was such a gensius it was just sick how super smart he was even drunk or not or just pretending too be!!!!! (: the doors no doubt if jim didn't die they would be #1 undisputedly!!!!! (:

angel ramon diaz Absolutely! That is what I think sometimes, name something that a particular band is special for, and the odds are The doors have already done it. He was a true showman, and his lyrics, its just soo beautiful. Every member of the doors in unique, they are not just legends, they are gods. Its the best band ever to be created, and best band that shall ever be. It feels great to know that I'm not the only one who feels this way!

Abheeshta Rao oh yeah no doubt The doors all the members are Gods especially Jim Morrison too much knowledge too much showman and just too much creative ability or power!!!!! (: Hell all the members had the same creative god like abilities!!!! (: Ray manserk was a genius god in the organ keyboard and piano instruments in creating amazing sounds and rhythms even producing a much richer and more perfect bass sound through the use of organ and keyboards!!!! (: Bobby kreiger was a god on guitar amazing rhythms and sounds and melodies onevof the very best guitarist on the planet and universe!!!! (: John Densmore a drum god amazing drummer fantastic sounds and rhythm and power unreal!!!!! (: Also one of the very very very best drummers in the galaxy!!!!!! (: Together just like zep. The Doors were just unstoppable in every way!!!!!!! (: True Gods Or Titian's Of Rock and Pure World Music all over the Universe!!!!!!!!!!! (:

I love the part where Densmore mentions that despite being told by Ed Sullivan's crew member *not* to sing "girl we couldn't much higher", Jim sings it anyway. The Doors were told to leave, not to play on the Ed Sullivan Show again. Jim told them that "we just did the Ed Sullivan show." I like their attitude.

I haven't had a haircut since the summer of '65, huge thick pointy sideburns too so imagine...We were literally melting of acid at the back of a Chevy '65 pick up truck listening to this song on the radio, 4 months later we went to Monterey Pop hitchhiking up the West Coast & after having a blast in the Pacific Grove watching the Third Bardo, the place was literally FULL of hippies, I can keep writing & writing reminiscing the old days and feeling kinda weird/sad that younger generations won't get the chance to live the freedom and the blast of the 60s...

My Friend and neighbor, 8 years my senior in 1970 (I was 12) and who I'd heard through his blocked basement window playing top 40 Rolling Stones a few years earlier, introduced me to 3 bands: Chicago Transit Authority, Creedence Clearwater Revival and the Doors. Those were the first 3 albums I'd ever bought and until then I was buying only 45s. He was a Drummer, me an aspiring one. We smoked a joint, turned on black lights to illuminate the posters covering the walls, a 1'x4' color organ synched to the music and sunk into the shag carpet. It was the greatest experience of my life. The CRACK of that single snare drum beat on Light my Fire gave me chills! The lengthy song sent me into seeing psychedelia. I hated when Radio Stations cut the song short, dropping out the entire Lead solo and my heart cheered when they played it full length. I come from New Haven and a FB Friend was one of the arresting Officers of Jim Morrison. Blown out of proportion when retold, it was more about Jim's defiance of the request for decorum as he was in the company of an under aged young Woman. They took Jim into custody after the show. Thank you for these stories; it sheds light on what was heretofore an enigma.

+Jason Carpp I agree with you. This song was what drew me to their first Album, when I heard it at a party. Still believe this is an incredible song, even today. AM Stations basically only played 3 Minute songs (and less). This was so they could get more songs (and commercials) in, during an hour. FM was just beginning, so you rarely heard the "long" version, on radio, back then. This was why they were greatly encouraged to produce a roughly 3 Minute version of the song. Once on AM, it became an immediate hit, across the country in July 1967.There was no way that I could imagine that Morrison was going to placate the Sullivan guys. The song was already out. Every baby-boomer knew the words to the song. I still like Ray's story about that situation, and how the group decided what to do, and the results. It is hilarious!
