One of the cool things about remaking BG1 and BG2 in BG3 is that dialogue is almost all text based. Since you dont need any voice acting you can basically make it 100% authentic if you wanted to.

I love the idea of someone from Wizards screaming down the phone in apoplectic fury that the consumers have worked out how to make their own free campaigns. Swen on the other end says "Oh, that's unfortunate. Anything else?"
Reminds me of the "Smiling Friends" episode, where Charlie, Pim, Allan and Glep go to Brazil on holidays and then they call Mr. Boss to inform him about their predicament 😂😂😂
Larian has repeatedly said the choice wasn't WotC/Hasbro's, but their own. The tools for DOS2 were buggy, and Larian has said they're not a software tools company. They decided not to release a full editor, NOT WotC. WotC would probably love a vibrant mod community, as that could lead to more sales and therefore more money for them.
Hys… it was pure chance that there was this option… 😂 Can`t help if some one managed to do it. We are not responsible. Officially only few mods tools available just as we promised.

I think that's it, paid DLC was probably never on the table, so this isn't part of that. But Hasbro is launching a digital tabletop to play D&D on, and this could be a direct competitor, as it's a vastly superior engine at a fraction of the cost

@@ArneBab Not really. Larian didn't burn the bridge: Hasbro did - or Hasbro of the Coast, or WotC, whatever you want to term it but Hasbro of the Coast has a good ring to it. Larian was THE company to continue this, they had passion, know how, ability, and BG3 getting game of the Year is a huge success. Hasbro simply needed to keep the team of people interacting with Larian, and do a far better job going "Everyone, we understand that some of our executives and managers have made calls that have made the community extremely upset. We are taking steps to remove those actors, and ensure people who respect the franchise and history of the game are being made the custodians going forward. We are going to continue to work with Larian, and those teams of people who have brought emense value to the D&D franchise, to ensure that our fans and shareholders continue to see great value from this Franchise, and that we continue to attract new creative talent, and players into the franchise to explore, grow, and share the world that has been created over the last 50 years". Thing is: Hasbro of the Coast are being ran by the same diversity over all else, equity over equal treatment idiots who are grinding society into the ground. I'm all for fair treatment - but lets get over this stupid idea that diversity is a strength: It has benefits, but it has downsides - and you put two people who are culturally polar opposites AND YOU WILL GET CONFLICT, we need teams of people that show respect and dignity, that strive to work and build something for tomorrow on the shoulders of the giants that we all stand on. Ok: That was a little long winded. Larian was going to release this kind of tool sooner or later no matter what, and if Hasbro of the Coast had been smart they would have brought it out as a full blown campaign editor, and worked with Larian to create a basis for a VTT using digital assets, and perhaps improved flight movement and the like in order to empower that kind of interaction. But Hasbro of the Coast has like zero forsight into how that, combined with official packs, campaign modules, and more could have made them ludicrous amounts of money. And everyone would have won. What Larian did, was thread a needle: They worked to create a soft locked tool, that fulfilled the contractual obligations, and oops - someone unlocked it. Basically, the only reason I suspect (and will likely never be confirmed), that this took so long is that Larian had to make sure the tool would pass rigor by being able to demonstrate that it was an effort to fulfill the contract while supporting modding which was, a promise made. Larian didn't burn the bridge: Hasbro/WotC obliterated it, and were left woundering why a company like Larian decided to be done with them.
If that was the case you would be allowed to talk about in their official channels, this screams more of a hack that they don't want to exist that someone discovered while writing cheats for the game.
As a big Neverwinter Nights enjoyer, if this is truly a final parting gift from Larian, it's probably the best gift they could have given me, even more than any kind of extension.
I have played Neverwinter Nights for the last twenty years. I'm thrilled to see another potential avenue for people to create D&D campaigns of their own.
I believe this as well. We may not ever hear what truly happened between Larian and WotC but I think Larian saw what Hasbro was like when they let all those people go and said we won’t no part of this.
I have a friend who is in the gaming industry as a developer, you have no idea how true this is. Larian was supposedly working on a DLC of some sort before all that happened. I think Larian knew already what hasbro/wotc were like but wanted to deliver a good game for a beloved and nostalgic franchise. They did just that. I have to agree. If you want this sort of thing to continue in the fandom unimpeded, you have to not let attention spread to the mainstream. I wish BG3 had a proper DM mode. And I do not mean a map or campaign maker, I mean a PROPER DM mode. One where a DM player could control monsters and make encoutners on the fly in game with the players like a real DM would for a TTRPG. NWN and DIV:OS2 had these and they were awesome.
Man that would take a long time to set up properly, I imagine some modded is thinking of making something like that but I bet you it would take over a year for it to enter a beta state. If there was less narrative connection to certain things it may be easier.
@@James-u1y The DM Mode in DIV:OS2 actually let you do a lot of things on the fly. You could put up a title card for your players which hid the map from them, while you could spawn in enemies and chest and stuff. It had a way to automatically generate levelled loot and auto populate merchant inventories and stuff. It is still way easier to plan ahead of time, but in a pinch it could be done.
and I hope is never fully confirmed, otherwise it could be used against Larian. What we can hopefully expect, is a wave of extremely dedicated modders who can, who knows, even recreate BG1 and 2 in this engine, much like Skyrim modders are recreating Oblivion and Morrowind
the fix was a simple one so they intended to leave it open. the best guess is hasbro told them not to do it as it would interfere with their planned virtual table top, but larian sneakily included a full toolkit for their fans.
This type of thing is impossible to be quiet about, not because of journalism, but by the very concept. The tool allows you creating whole new campaigns that will be massively popular and Hasbro would have wondered how tf a modder made a campaign when Larian explicitly said a level editor wouldn't be released. They would have founded out one way or another. I just hope we can be adults about this and agree on a build to play the game exclusively if they try to patch this fix out because of Hasbro
Yeah, I take the mods and these new tools as the virtual book of "homebrew" and since its part of the actual game, it should stay as such. And no one should stop it.
It may be that it is just legal technicality. They didn't officialy release a full toolkit, and that's all that matters. They can't be considered legally responsable for players hacking their tool and whatever they produce with it. I mean, other studios do that all the time : they release a full product, but you can't access the full content unless you pay an additional fee just to switch some variable -that's basically the whole concept behind microtransactions. It basically means that's it's ok, legally speaking, to release a full product, with some part locked from being used by the regular user. That's all what they have done, and it's not they fault if some hacker manages to unlock its full potential. At worst, they can claim it's an unfortunate error. Anyway, error or not, it's too late now, Pandora's box has been opened. If they force an update that disables the use of the full toolkit, people will just use the working version. The best move they have to do now is to pretend not wanting to speak about it, and not do anything to stop it because they have no legal obligation to do so. Such legal technicality, or exploitation of grey areas, is often used against the consummer. It's nice that, for once, it's used in their favor.
They would have to either use an AI for voices, which the community agrees isn't good since it could potentially harm the VA's livelihood once a model is trained and accessible, or use a separate VA to imitate Karlach. Of course, they could also disregard the voice and make her text-only, but that sounds a bit lackluster for our favorite tiefling barbarian.
@@owenmiller8927bruh, just ask Sam to voice the character and if she doesn't agree - make it text only. I'm sure we played the game enough to hear her voice in our heads while reading.
I wouldnt go that far. When you compare cross genre there's competition, such as Elden Ring, and possibly Black Myth Wukong given recent popularity. Game of the Decade for its Genre, yes.
@@aetherblackbolt1301 Black Myth Wu Kong is very good indeed, Elden Ring is great too but for me personally there is something very enchanting and inspiring about BG3 as a gamer and more so an artist it is a very artistic medium. The other two are great games that are currently leveling what many are calling woke gaming while BG3 is just art on its own.
Studios defining decades - 2000s: Nintendo + Blizzard 2010s: Bethesda + Mojang 2020s: Larian + ??? (Maybe Fromsoft) I think Larian needs to release at least 1 more hit game this decade to cement their position, although Mojang only ever released 1 hit game.
@@TheLegendaryAryeh elden ring is artistic too, so I don't think BG3 wins over it there. It is just a different preference - some think BG3 is too cheesy, and some thing elden ring is too serious, which are both fair. BM:W and Elden Ring are great regardless of any woke/anti-woke arguments, but if we're going there, the 2 games show that you don't need woke elements to be great, and BG3 shows you can be great despite woke elements (or rather, you can do inclusive elements without being catastrophically woke about it).
Solasta made a dungeon maker that allows for using game assets to make custom campaigns. That can be coupled with a mod called Unfinished Business which contains a ton of dnd material that Tactical Adventures couldn't include. Wouldn't be surprising if they wanted to head off Larian from doing the same thing on a bigger scale.
Another factor that goes into Larian making this readily available in this fashion is that Larian has said their next project will be their own IP, not anyone else's. This means that they don't have to worry about any future IP holder becoming shy about working with them over making this level/campaign editor capacity available.
i mean they made the 2 most successful crpgs of the last decade, i doubt any ip holders would not want to work with them. Wizards basically begged larian to make bg3 after DOS2 came out.

I am just happy that it's out there because this game is so well loved that I KNOW there are some hard cores out there that will drop some great content one of these days.
Yes, hobby developers and hobby modders will launch large mods as soon as modding is sufficiently established. I assume it was complex in the beginning because they designed the system to be very abstract and modular, allowing for more powerful tools built on top of that abstract code. Once you create your abstract code and follow it with an intuitive, e.g. graphical user interface, your workflow will be much faster. Just imagine a function f(x) where x is something you want implemented, e.g. B. an weapon. So you enter x/weapon of your desire without having to program or understanding f. This is a very simple example, but I think it's easy to understand.
Larian was playing 4D chess with the backpack glitch. The "failures" to patch the glitch was simply a demonstration of the craftiness of the modders and players. This fact will be used to provide plausible deniability to the release of the full mod toolkit.
"Why would you buy the overall expensive (and many) books, tilesets and other merchandise for tabletop dnd when you can coop play and create modded campaigns in BG3?" - my first thought.

For Linux gamers like me, modding games is sometimes difficult and mostly impossible. The only cases that modding is simple and easy are Steam Workshop supported games and in-game mod managers like in Skyrim. For us, Larian basically made modding possible at all. I didn't really NEED unlocked mods, but Larian made it so. Above and beyond, that's the way long-term success is cultuvated.
My dream scenario for BG3 is that people become great at making campaigns and starts releasing old classic campaigns the way Neverwinter Nights did. Just imagine being able to download any campaign from the last few decades, starting a fresh party, and then just taking that party from campaign to campaign, from adventure to adventure. That would probably be the closest I could come to reliving my best memories of playing DnD. I had a small group of friends that were interested in DnD when I was a kid, one of my friends had an older brother that played in the 80's/early 90's. We started playing and had a party of adventures that went through campaigns togther for little over 10 years. Now it's been over 15 years since I played tabletop rpg's, that old friend group has grown up, started families, and scattered throughout the world/country. Games like BG3 are the only real way I can experience those old memories again, and this video filled me with so much hope.
Come to PC gaming, almost all my best experiences emerge from incorporating mods in any way, shape, or form, be it single or multiplayer. The mod community comes up with wonderful things, big or small.
I played the original BG 1&2 WoW and Skyrim back in the day, then life, and falling out of love with gaming in general for about 12 years. But BG3 and Larian have cast a spell on me I was excited about a game being released again and the panels from hell Where genius. I wish we could go back to a month before it’s release. I felt like a kid waiting for Christmas. The whole thing was “magic”
I'm hyped if this leads to a new era of quest and map mods for BG3. This is what I wanted since this game came out. I need a huge Underdark campaign. I NEED it, the Underdark was my favorite part of BG3, it captured what I want in an underdark depiction so well. The luminescence, the sense of verticality, underwater bodies of water. But I think we can do more, go deeper.
Not at all. There are so many differences. Very minimal overlap in market. But reduce demand for their next CRPG? Probably not that much either, since the next one will probably come out in 5+ years, if at all
The next BG/DnD entry by Hasbro will probably be some MMO on a subscription with micro transactions. You know, exactly what the vast majority of BG3 players secretly crave...
I think it is important to realise how the character of developers impacts how news like this is viewed. For Nintendo and a lot of the bigger companies known for taking brutal legal actions against anyone trying to play their game in a different way, or make more for it, news that a mod came out because the original code was so easy to access and alter, the story would be that they weren't competent with their programming and to be careful not to make too much waves or this nice thing we had would vanish. For Larian, with how open they are about loving games themselves and supporting player choice, we all believe that this was a deliberate move and we praise them for it. Not saying it ISN'T, but I do love how it's yet again proven that being a company that tries to put the players first, as much as possible, CAN most definitely be a path towards succes. Not just because they've made one of the greatest games of all time, but because they have earned the goodwill of the gaming comunity. We know they are thinking of the next game as something a bit smaller in scale, but I think most people are still looking forward to it and trusting them to do it right.
Nah, the Hasbro/WotC shittery goes deeper. WotC doesn't want BG3 to be deeply modable as it would crater sales on the soon to come digital tabletop app they're currently beta testing.
Pretty comical, because WotC were the ones shooting themselves on the foot. And the fact that they had the audacity to even restrict Larian is even bewildering to me. It's like WotC and Hasbro really hates money in the upcoming future for their new titles.
@@asmallphd9648 Because WotC is selling/going to sell content on there and charge a subscription fee. If there is a custom campaign mod and a DM mode as in Divinity 2 why would you give WotC money?
A lot of people calling recent patch as the last/final update when it's not true (confirmed by Larian). So there is a possibility that full toolkit will be official, perhaps it needs some improvements etc.
it's not implausible, but just having a level editor is amazing. Solasta's Dungeon Maker has resulted in numerous player made campaigns for that game, with new ones being created to this day. while it would be nice to have that kind of official DM function in BG3 it's still great to know we've now got the same possibilities, even if it's informal.
I personally think that the thing WotC fears the most is someone making some sort of VTT mode for BG3, because such a mod would be direct competition for their own VTT.
@@spiritofthemoonlessnight aaaaah now i get the abbreviation meaning (sorry, i'm from Argentina and still learning abbreviations). Yes, like the virtual tabletop "TaleSpire" that exists in Steam

Gonna be blunt worked with the team working on the toolkit - the amount of things needing to be built, reverse engineered to understand and create new assets and dlls for makes it obvious to me that it wasn’t intentional. It was more than a few value switches. To open the door a crack - sure - for actual functionality it was waaaaaay more involved than that. And the tool wasn’t simple. And the person who unlocked it wasn’t a lay person. Larian is protecting their ass the toolkit wasn’t intended they didn’t foresee the rabid nature of the community. I’ve seen full release games and apps with dev teams the size that’s come together out of love for this game to make what’s possible possible to this point. 😊
5:20 My theory: WotC does not want BG3 to have a DM Mode, so Larian should have been more truthful and said, their Agreement/Contract with WotC does not allow them to release a DM Mode to the public.
Di...did I just bear witness to a constructive argument on the Internet? It looks like one of the participants even...changed their mind after new information was presented? STOP THE WORLD I WANNA GET OFF!
I worry about what will happen to Larian after Sven Vincke dies. I know he's not that old, but it will happen eventually. Hopefully he'll have a hand-picked and trained successor to take over, like Gaben does.
The way I got introduced to DnD was with pen, paper, dice and homebrew. While I do love all sorts of DnD stuff and do buy books and CRPGS, what I love most is this idea of using the tools of the game and getting creative with them. Larian seems to have a similar understanding and that makes me want to support their work more. I also appreciate that their business model is not treating us like mindless cash cows, like some other companies.
I'm not presuming anything about Hasbros influence and goals, but it would not be beneath them to hinder modding. But it's also possible that the full modding is so easy to enable either because it was for internal development only, or it was disabled because it was considered problematic by easily breaking stuff or not being intuitive enough for a layman.
Larian are a gem in the field. So far I already bought every game up to now. And I can only hope with their new game in the making. That all remember what Larian does for the players. That we all support them in their games to come. Even if its not a D&D universe.
For sure. I love Baldurs gate 3 and Larian studios. But the games owlcat release are special also. In some ways i even prefer them. Sure most text is not voiced but this allows them to have ALOT of text and ALOT of choices in dialouge.
100% but what's even more important than the Tool Kit is the content Larian cut from the game! Swen has openly said that there was content made that was cut like another Moonrise Tower, more regions to explore I'm sure that some of those was Avernus and the Upper city even Data minors found tons of cut content from the game. My question to you is why this content hasn't been released because they clearly have it in their possession? 🤔
Maybe the toolkit is just the thing to unlock if not recreate these unfinished places. and train an AI to add missing voice lines on the incomplete dialog. I'm going to go research this.
@@spellandshield I believe they said something about pacing issues with the story and how they felt like those parts are not on par with their standards, sometimes you start developing something and in process feel like it isn't good enough, or the story changes mid production, instead of deluding the game with mediocre content making the overall experience worse they'd rather just cut it entirely. Never assume the files data miners find are more than leftover files from something that was any further than mid production at best.
I mean i feel that is just a scenario of every game in the world cuts content. Does not even mean said content was finished or even close to finished but decided against due to the size of the game already.
Ooooh, thats a good conspiracy theory:).... I have then one for ya then also.....Maybe, because they let in so many Modders into their system Data for the new Modding Tool that one of them adjusted something or perhaps found something not meant to be found? Then told there friend "The unknown modder" and they dropped on Nexus. And Larian is searching for who it was and thats why it is not allowed to be discussed on there Discord. Guess time will tell one way or the other. Always remember....2 wrong don't make a right, but 3 do..:)) Have a great day. Peace
Ever since Early Access i believed that BG3 could become the definitive D&D platform if they included DM mode, you could just build on it, add subclasses, races and monsters and have the whole D&D universe in the game eventually. BUT this would mean that Wizards of the Coast's VTT would never come to be, so i think they decided that Larian shouldnt add DM mode. Imagine how BG3 would have outshined any attempt of making a VTT
I would love to try playing my Domains of Dread campaign in BG3, it would be so freaking cool. My character is 99% in the game just need the echo knight subclass.
I can't wait for larians next game, I absolutely love these devs now because of baldur's gate 3. I went back and played divinity original sin 2, while it wasn't for me (a bit too hardcore for me) it did actually ooze just as much quality. Can't wait to see what they do next.
I suspected this too, especially since Larian has been pretty vocal about liking that DOS2 modders have extended the longevity of their game. I would not be surprised in the least if this had been secretly part of the plan all along.
I am truly happy to be alive at this time, where such a beautiful company like Larian, creates the best game, with the best voice actors and just succesfully raise their middle fingers to big corporations. They truly have passion for DnD and gaming, and I hope alot of gaming companies will follow their footsteps. But I think nobody will be able to top this, I wish them all the best for whatever comes next, I will gladly wait for decades to be able to buy their content, if it is only half as good as bdg3. They deserve the best just for being good to their fanbase, they are doing what every company should do for the money they get..
Love Larian, whether or not it was their plan! I've wanted to give modders some time to use the new tools and whatnot before I play through again but it's only a matter of time. The Mystic class mod was one of my favorites several months ago
I'll buy Larian products with total, total, totalllll confidence. They over-delivered. And I love them for it. I really enjoyed SOLASTA's custom campaigns. Less voice acting, but a lot of hours of fun and tactical challenges.
It makes sense that it can be done BG3 runs on the divinity engine. Divinity original sin as you already said can do this and while yes they upgraded the engine it’s doubtful they took everything out. If Sven and co didn’t actually anonymously release this, they probably made it deliberately easy to hack and make the mod to do this knowing someone will because let’s face it if Larian has proved one thing as a company after BG3 it’s that they know how we think 😂
It would be cool for Larian to have a campaign contest as a talent search. This makes content to promote brand and and support a business scaling for Larians increasing momenrum.
I think D&D beyonds virtual table top just got officially blown out of the water before it dropped. If I'm someone who prefers the VTT experience over in person at a table (especially if I'm streaming a group to an audience) and can construct my encounters and campaign through this. I'm choosing this. Hasbo/WotC just had their ultimate competition just enter the ring.
That's exactly what I thought when I read about the mod (and downloaded it ). Perfectly fits Larian's attitude towards big gaming corporations. We'll probably never know why exactly they couldn't agree with Hasbro/WoTC on making BG4, but this trojan horse style stunt is very telling. 😁
I believe the motivation of Hasbro/WotC have nothing to do with BG3, but their new strategy to shift the table top experience into the digital space with their Virtual Tabletop. They are merging their main product into digital applications themselves, probably with a bunch of DLC/premium content/subscription models involved and at the same time try to narrow the space for independent content creators for their non digital products. Having a fully modable BG3 that enthusiastic designers could use to create their own campaigns, is competition for exactly the demographic they want to reach with their new digital products.
It could just be something they built into the engine. If you like having mod support in your games, it's very convenient to just build it into the engine you're using. And if it's a fundamental part of the engine, then it's possible that it's so woven in there that it could never be removed.
WotC/Hasbro is making their own virtual table top (VTT) for D&D. I can imagine them requiring this limitation to ensure someone doesn't make BG3 into potentially an even better VTT, which also doesn't require subscriptions to the D&D stuff.
I can’t wait did this kind of stuff to start rolling out from the nexus. I’d love to see at least some custom additional followers to add to your party with their own unique story and interactions
I tried using a mod and it wrecked my game (thankfully only killed about 30 min of my playthrough, so I was able to reset without killing my run). The official mod support has been a godsend, even though I don't even have many mods, but I love that I have a safe option to do so!
Totally agree with what you are saying, but to add to this, perhaps it is the case that this tool was always part of the base code - it wasn't added, it was always there and we were only recently given access to it.
I think you're on to something. Unlimited modding ability, or just being able to make our own adventures/campaigns in BG3, would also complete with WotC Project Sigil VTT. Only with BG3 mods, the community would get things made by passionate modders & teams creating the things we want, instead of what WotC's marketing team thinks will generate them the most revenue for them.
I hope this means all those custom races will now be able to have their own unique appearance. Custom campaigns could also be fun, imagine being able to play through Lost Mines or Curse of Strahd!
Mods can literally turn a one and done game into a long time live service based off passion and love for the craft. Look at Stardew Valley’s Expanded and Ridgeside, Elden Ring’s Convergence, Terraria’s Calamity and Thorium. My issue with bg3 mods is that I don’t know how people will overhaul to the main campaign in the sense of voicelines especially from the voice actors, that wouldn’t be easy to do.
Modding will continue to be a niche hobby of a relative few people. Vast majority are "Cosmetics by Incel" and rarely are they used to create new content. I'm a long time DM and I sure as hell don't want to make my life more difficult with "assets" and whatever jargon you need to learn in order to mod/create your own adventures through this medium. Yes, I'm a 50+ DM, and Microsoft Word is all I need to create an adventure.
Let's be real, a gamer would know how far fans could go for a game they love, Skyrim it's the proof. They know the "it's too difficult" will never deter fans to do crazy amazing things. They would just go: "Look at these gamers, we gave them the tool to do simple things and they changed our toolkit in a way to completely change the entire game. Bad gamers!... So, anyways..." and just keep doing their thing xD From how professional the company is, they would never slip up something like this if they didn't expect fans to do whatever they want. Also, from their panels, a lot of times they said: "We did the game, but know that we finished, it's yours now, you can do whatever you want with it." if they could wink every time they say something like that without facing legal problems, they would. (it's a half joke) We gave you this, don't use it for anything else *wink wink*

Larian is the developer that AAA companies should be. They are keeping BG3 relevant for years to come.

the fix was a simple one so they intended to leave it open. the best guess is hasbro told them not to do it as it would interfere with their planned virtual table top, but larian sneakily included a full toolkit for their fans.
@@ghostwizard7597 time to turn off autoupdate I think

@@TheLegendaryAryeh elden ring is artistic too, so I don't think BG3 wins over it there.

Try Solasta. It has a dungeon maker where people make full campaigns and those can be played in multiplayer too. Based on 5e.
I wouldn't be surprised of WotC starts suing modders. That won't end well for them, of course, but since when has that ever stopped a big corp?
Come to PC gaming, almost all my best experiences emerge from incorporating mods in any way, shape, or form, be it single or multiplayer. The mod community comes up with wonderful things, big or small.

Oh wow, randomly clicked on this video, and immediately recognized the voice. Nice to stuble upon your gaming channel!
Secend view, keep up the great work Spell!
They might have non disclosure on that. I.e They might not be allowed to say hasbro isnt letting them do that
@@boserboser6870 Agreed. You're probably right about an NDA being in place.
Di...did I just bear witness to a constructive argument on the Internet? It looks like one of the participants even...changed their mind after new information was presented? STOP THE WORLD I WANNA GET OFF!
@@DarkElfDiva Such a shameful display, right? I was ready to see an epic battle instead got two people shaking hands and heads in agreement..
You sir, are entirely correct in your analysis.
Perhaps. Sounds too good to be true. Either way, that Sven definitely sounds like a virtuous battlemage the more i hear about him.
Larian trying to unlock the "Meet the Pinkertons" Side Quest
Fk yeah, Larian is so baller :D
Very smart from Larian.
Amazing gift! Thanks, Larian.
I want to see what Owlcat games would do with a bigger budget!
Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous and Baldurs Gate 3 are both the best rpgs since Baldurs Gate 2.
@@thomasrosendahl2783 You left off Owlcat's other offering... Rogue Trader
@@AltaniNerdAuRa Love Rogue Trader, even more than Pathfinder.
For sure. I love Baldurs gate 3 and Larian studios. But the games owlcat release are special also. In some ways i even prefer them. Sure most text is not voiced but this allows them to have ALOT of text and ALOT of choices in dialouge.
This makes me so happy, forsure was a little treat for the gamers
100% but what's even more important than the Tool Kit is the content Larian cut from the game! Swen has openly said that there was content made that was cut like another Moonrise Tower, more regions to explore I'm sure that some of those was Avernus and the Upper city even Data minors found tons of cut content from the game. My question to you is why this content hasn't been released because they clearly have it in their possession? 🤔
Officially Swen said that they made some decisions to cut some content because they didn't think it fit? Is he being truthful? I don't know.
Why would a toolkit offer cut content? I don’t think that’s how that works.
This makes a huge difference. This is gigantic if any of us want to chase it. This also means a future job to any of us.
Peace
I expect there to be some absolutely peak mods in the future. DND fans are some of the most dedicated and meticulous players in existence
@@Direwolf9818 Fortunately for you, there is an echo knight Subclass mod
@@Direwolf9818the main problem is that making stuff in a game engine is hugely labourus
Yeah that's a great theory. I'm really digging this whole Larian company, might check out their other games
I agree and am very appreciative to Larian. If there is any game company that has earned some loyalty over the years, its them.
I can't wait for larians next game, I absolutely love these devs now because of baldur's gate 3. I went back and played divinity original sin 2, while it wasn't for me (a bit too hardcore for me) it did actually ooze just as much quality. Can't wait to see what they do next.
I absolutely love this channel....great video sir.
I suspected this too, especially since Larian has been pretty vocal about liking that DOS2 modders have extended the longevity of their game. I would not be surprised in the least if this had been secretly part of the plan all along.
I think you are one hundred percent correct.
The values to enable it, when held up to a mirror read, "Sven wuz here".
Still waaiting for a badass ultra complex and faithful drow game. Maybe one day...
Love Larian, whether or not it was their plan! I've wanted to give modders some time to use the new tools and whatnot before I play through again but it's only a matter of time. The Mystic class mod was one of my favorites several months ago
I wonder if they balanced out Mystic, they were oddly op in 5e
I like how BG3 has become the Skyrim of this new geneation of players
I'll buy Larian products with total, total, totalllll confidence. They over-delivered. And I love them for it. I really enjoyed SOLASTA's custom campaigns. Less voice acting, but a lot of hours of fun and tactical challenges.
I keep hearing about Solasta in the comments. What is it?
It makes sense that it can be done BG3 runs on the divinity engine. Divinity original sin as you already said can do this and while yes they upgraded the engine it’s doubtful they took everything out. If Sven and co didn’t actually anonymously release this, they probably made it deliberately easy to hack and make the mod to do this knowing someone will because let’s face it if Larian has proved one thing as a company after BG3 it’s that they know how we think 😂
It would be cool for Larian to have a campaign contest as a talent search. This makes content to promote brand and and support a business scaling for Larians increasing momenrum.
This idea crossed my mind immediately when I discovered the toolkit expanded. Big W for Larian
I can imagine them requiring this limitation to ensure someone doesn't make BG3 into potentially an even better VTT, which also doesn't require subscriptions to the D&D stuff.
good on larian. dnd and baldur's gate are shared by everyone. you can't own the ability to tell stories in a medium
I can’t wait did this kind of stuff to start rolling out from the nexus. I’d love to see at least some custom additional followers to add to your party with their own unique story and interactions
Another huge W for Larian. Their final gift to the players.
I tried using a mod and it wrecked my game (thankfully only killed about 30 min of my playthrough, so I was able to reset without killing my run). The official mod support has been a godsend, even though I don't even have many mods, but I love that I have a safe option to do so!
Good guys Larian 👌
Gamers for Gamers - Larian studio is a pal.
Totally agree with what you are saying, but to add to this, perhaps it is the case that this tool was always part of the base code - it wasn't added, it was always there and we were only recently given access to it.
A very interesting take - I hope it's true
WoftC/Hasbro: You've beaten us at our own game
Larian: Don't flatter yourselves. You were never even players
So, anyways..." and just keep doing their thing xD
From how professional the company is, they would never slip up something like this if they didn't expect fans to do whatever they want.
Also, from their panels, a lot of times they said: "We did the game, but know that we finished, it's yours now, you can do whatever you want with it."
if they could wink every time they say something like that without facing legal problems, they would. (it's a half joke)
We gave you this, don't use it for anything else *wink wink*
Long live Larian Studios. 😊
