So that's it; no more time for talking, for hugging, for joking around, or for making new memories together 😢 So please hug ur dad. Just give him a "head's up" first by saying something like, "Hey dad? I know u aren't the most affectionate guy, but u look like u could use a hug; and even if u don't need one, well, I sure do!" Then just hug him b4 it gets awkward. After, u can say something like, "U know I love u, right?" or "Thanks for all of ur sacrifices & hard work" or whatever feels comfy. Then walk away b4 things get weird, like an awkward silence. Hug him often... like every few months, or something... 3 or 4x a year to start. In the same way these videos felt weird at first, but then became less foreign & more familiar, the same will be for hugging your dad -- so just do it -- do it often enough that if he didn't wake up one morning, u'd feel good about having hugged him. K? At the end of our lives, we don't regret the things we did, but rather, we regret the things that we didn't do. So please, from somebody who has lost both parents, please do it... please hug ur dad before u regret not doing it. K?

My parents used to be the same and their parents were even worse when they were growing up, so so u know what I did, I completely broke the cycle, I hug and give kisses to my kids every single day, I hated it growing up because tbh I felt starved of affection, I got to a certain age and I started hugging them, my mum used to say I was clingy and that I always wore my heart on my sleeve, my dad was okay with it, he actually became a little more affectionate over time, especially right before he passed away, he died of cancer and towards the end said how he had a lot of regrets, this above being one main one, my mum died the same year she had a massive heart attack, I’d say to her, “love u mum!” And she would say, “yeh okay love, be good!!” I hated it, my step mum used to give me loads of hugs and always used to say to me that “I am her little girl, always have been, always will be” I loved that, I could chat to her for ages about anything and everything, I miss her so much, and I miss my parents too, I’m a mum and I would lay down and die in an instant for my babies, (their teenagers now and one is my foster son who’s 24 😂 but still my babies 😉) I agree with the other comment here, go and give ur dad a hug! Don’t wait for him to do it, life’s so short and I promise u that, the 1st hug may or may not feel a little awkward BUT then it’ll feel so AMAZING!!
