      How can you account for the physical constants of the universe being delt by chance when they're so finely tuned that if any of them were altered by a millionth of a degree matter & life would not exist. & each of these have to be perfectly set so they can build upon to on one another or else matter & life wouldn't exist You're betting your life on it being chance. I think that's silly.

    • @brady851
      @brady851 2 года назад

      @@Mindmartyr Not to get into a heated argument about god but nothing really happens by "chance", it just happens and luck/chance is just something we humans use to describe stuff that are unpredictable because we do not understand or see any plan or design behind them. Take flipping a coin for example, we do not see any understanding or plan behind the side it lands on so we call it luck/chance, but as soon as the coin is flipped it is predictable through painstaking physics and math that would probably take days to determine what side it lands on. Variables such as height, force behind the flip, precise location the thumb flipped the coin at, "bounciness" of the table, and so much more. Simply not understanding how the constants of the universe actually occurred does not instantly mean there is a supernatural being.
      Basically, luck/chance cannot be used to prove god's existence as Atheism isn't the belief that everything happened by luck/chance but just happened in a way that we can only describe as luck/chance because we weren't there to see it and understand it. The universe is a massive super genius that can see all the innerworkings of science and math that the best scientists can only dream of seeing, and if there is one thing the universe doesn't allow, it's random luck.

      And then you understand why modern nations such as western countries, China, Russia and Japan and every fucking nation that doesn’t have its political and educational system attached to a fictional old minded brainwashing scheme of centuries ago is so much more developed than Muslim countries…one is about innovation of ideas the other is about preservation of ancient ideas. Muslim countries will always be leagues below the rest of the world as long as they don’t realize that religion was made to be appreciated and not followed blindly like a cult. You are only gonna push yourself down as long as you keep preserving ideas of centuries ago completely outdated for todays needs. Innovation is the birth of power and there is zero to almost none of it in Muslim middle eastern countries.

And, many people do use religion and/or God just to feel good... (when it is so much deeper than that). But I think what it all boils down too is, we are all just looking for truth, and for me, God is truth. But I would never push that on any one... if I did, I apologize. What do you have to say for communist regimes that pushed atheism on it's populations often by force? It's not real atheism? Well, yeah, sure, but then you have to apply that same standard to religion. And your worldview is probably a myth too, you also don't know jack shit for sure. The difference is my myth has kept society running for tens of thousands of years while the secular experiment has only lasted for more than a century and the shit is already getting out of hand, and people are already converting to religion in droves

Humans keep around ideas that are good and lead to good outcomes, that much is obvious, if you're truly rational you can't deny that

    It's definitely not just for the weak unless everyone is weak, which I'd agree with.
    I follow the bible's teachings to better learn and understand my self and the world around me. Im autistic and schizophrenic. I've been isolated the majority of my life. The aspect of being loved by something outside of my self is nice, and so is the prospect of a purpose, but I found truth in the bible not for those things but just to better understand a friend.
    I do have amplitudes of problems and I am weak, though.
    Focusing on god does help keep me sane, in an insane sort of way.
    I don't really know what religion does for me besides help me learn and develop my actual self. I already lived by the bible before I picked up the bible, just not with the same level of awareness.
    I dunno. I'm just rambling. Thinking about being loved and cherished for who i am is nice, but I hardly notice it. The prospects of heaven are obviously awesome, and the prospects of hell terrifying, but i dont really care. I dont believe believing in the literal christ would doctate where i end up and thst i wouldve ended in the same place regardless, but i dont know.
    Hm. Donno. The reason i picked up the faith is because how well it lines up with literal reality.
    Really, it has further detached me from the world and isolated me more than i already was isolated. I dont mind.
    It's helped me develope my passion, thought, but to others, ive become more insane.
    Im really just rambling. Again, i didnt pick up the bible to improve anything beyond my own understanding. I never pray for anything besides more understanding and to be more content worldly life (i am very eager to find the truth in the afterlife)

    Interesting appeal I must say as someone who was very religious growing up that it was nice to believe, but whenever it came time to search for the answers the Bible left us with more questions and failed to actually answer most of the questions we have without being contradicted by itself in later passages, I went to college and learned about logical fallacies and how to analyze what we believe to figure out what is worth believing and what is likely to be true and found along with many others that god is just a lie we tell ourselves to make the beatings easier to take (as in coping method 1) because if god allowed it there must be a reason, and the Bible and worship a way for us to distract ourselves from anything that would cause us to question it even if just for a short while, though the doubts always come creeping back in (much like coping method 2) ultimately the only way we seem to find what we’re looking for is if we believe we have finished coping type 3 of searching for the answers however religion is tricky, it masks itself. It claims to have those answers or asserts the notion that the lack of answers point to one specific answer that is super mysterious and shouldn’t be questioned further, and many are fooled by it and live their life unaware of their deception unaware that they’re wasting their time and money and even dare I say their happiness of discovering themselves.
    Religion will tell you science claims to have ALL the answers. (When it intentionally tries to avoid making such broad claims)
    Religion will tell you science doesn’t have all the answers. (and scientists will agree)
    Religion will tell you science will never have all the answers (and a scientist will say maybe not but we’re not going to stop trying until we do)
    Religion will tell you something can never be explained (science has done so in the past and is likely going to be explaining other things in the approaching future)
    Religion will tell you what we don’t know is evidence of a higher power (science will tell you what we don’t know is evidence that there’s more to learn)
    On the topic of weakness I disagree religion doesn’t make you weak nor does it make you strong, it does nothing, if you didn’t have religion you’d hold some other philosophy that makes you feel like you can live life everybody does even atheists like myself believe in things but though the reasoning for that belief is different it makes us no stronger than anyone else just as religion makes you no weaker. Weather relentlessly Pursuing truth or lying down and taking the beatings amidst comfortable lies it is ultimately our own strength that gets us through the day religion just gives credit to someone who doesn’t exist.

    • @imbeggar
      @imbeggar  4 года назад +1

      First of all, thank you for disagreeing, but not insulting... people can't seem to get that any more. It sounds like you got some bad info about God (what we would call, toxic faith) growing up. For example you say: religion will tell you what we don't know is evidence of god... (or the God of the gaps argument). I don't believe that. I only believe in what we can reasonably, logically understand. (If you want Logic, I would suggest Thomas Aquinas). Second, where did Jesus lie? Atheists always tell me Im wasting my time, my life, my happiness... I'm curious, if an atheist would think that of Mother teresa? Or Abe Lincoln? I might argue it is the other way around, and I was an atheist myself. Where I think we agree is on the pursuit of truth and self. Mine has lead to God. Got nothing to do with coping and lessening the beatings (as Freud said)... I wish you peace with wherever yours leads you.

      imbeggar yeah it’s indeed a very sensitive subject as a former Christian myself I try hard not to offend anyone because I understand how it feels (I was actually worried some of my words could be taken out of context I’m glad to see for the most part they don’t seem to be) I am very interested to know what you consider to be rational proof enough of god to be able to believe it though cause I’ve had a lot of discussions about this and nothing yet has swayed me, ultimately things seem too paradoxical and while there are certainly arguments that can be made that a paradox doesn’t necessarily mean the logic is wrong it’s certainly much harder to prove and none of the arguments for god that I’ve heard have yet successfully avoided this. As far as Jesus’s word we can’t ever really know what all he actually said or what all actually happened, as was such with all books in the Bible, the New Testament was all written by secondhand descriptions of the events that transpired. We have no way to know if the apostles had reason to lie or if they meant to tell the truth and just remembered things differently or if they had any impairment to their thought process as they were writing Be it natural or external factors, or maybe things were lost in translation, there are a whole plethora of reasons simple written accounts of history aren’t totally reliable. Just look at the case of how much Judas was paid to betray Jesus or how he died across different books or translations of the Bible as one example. In the case of Lincoln and Teresa I still hold the belief that they had potential to do great things without religion being necessary, there are plenty of philosophies that could have the same effect such as utilitarianism. In my opinion once again it doesn’t change their potential for strength or how great of an impact they could have but rather how they went about acting on it and in doing so they chose to give credit for that strength and good will to something they cannot be absolutely sure exists when really it came from themselves.

    • @imbeggar
      @imbeggar  4 года назад

      @@someoneonyoutube8622 Thank you for this. I appreciate a discussion in good faith even if we are coming from two different sides of it. I don't presume think I could sway you (or anyone) with a rational argument to “prove” God. And it is not my intention. I apologize if I came off that way. And I don't think it would ever be that simple. However, you are right to say that we don't really know what Jesus said, word for word. And historical texts are tricky. Very few historical and theological scholars hold that the bible is a word for word account. And it is true, the 4 gospels were written for 4 very different audiences, and the gospel writers tried to convey the meaning, message, to these 4 audiences in different ways, and there is evidence of this. And yes, there are some discrepancies. But with all that being said, we can't just throw it all away. My grandmother died many years ago, when myself and my siblings tell her story to others, we don't get the details right, but that doesn't mean we are lying or that she didn’t exist or some other explanation... the most "reasonable" explanation is that she probably did exist we just screwed up some of the details. Just because we dont know what jesus said word for word doesn't mean we have lost the essence of what he said or its' meaning. If it was a lie, or made up, for what reason? these explanations all get very complicated and are not easily supported (occam's razor). But back to faith and reason, what it comes down to is, do you believe in objective truth (rhetorical question). if not, and many do not, then that is fine. Or objective morality, objective love? But if so, where does it come from? Early philosophers from the east and west (Aristotle, plato, Averroes) all held these had to exist singularly in its most pure, most simple form (our theology logically builds off of this). We call that God. And Jesus Christ is the human embodiment. And since God is truth itself, truth could never contradict reason, we cant accept any contradictions (miracles are a different story). Ok, sorry I went on too long, and you may think I am even more crazy now. But I appreciate your honest response, so I wanted to respond back. Happy new year!

    • @someoneonyoutube8622
      @someoneonyoutube8622 3 года назад +1

      @god first bro there was a time that god was an important thing to me because I believed it to be real. Now however there’s an overwhelmingly vast lack of tangible and verifiable proof for a god of any kind. Not only that but logically speaking the concepts underlying god make little sense, or end up in contradiction, or as stated before just pointing to something we don’t understand to say that because we don’t understand something we can understand it is god. Not to mention all the other religions out there believe just as strongly as you do that theirs is the true religion. Any gaps in our understanding of science are immediately filled in with the word god and yet ironically all that does is stop people from questioning further because if they did they Would realize god isn’t an answer because all the same flaws and questions apply to it as well. It’s a pretender at the answer and it has all the flaws our current understanding of the world has on top of its own flaws unique to itself.
      In light of all this and mich more it appears increasingly likely that there is no god and I am ok with that now. Now I search for how to live my life In the best way I can, how to best construct morality, how to best observe the world, etc...

Of course, we're not perfect and make mistakes from time to time. Perfection is not strength, indeed, It's anxiety. Being weak is giving up and refusing to grow as an individual. In my opinion, the Christian rituals are silly, but its leasons are wonderful. God doesn't exist in the real world. It's all in our head. The truth is that solving the right problems and improving ourlseves is what gives us strength and a temporary meaning to our lives.

    Why religion is for the weak: "I am the only way to God" -Jesus. "Ok so?"-man. "Any other way will end you up in hell"-Jesus. "say no more I love you JESUS"-man

    Anyone who says religion is for the weak needs to look up the story and of the burning monk, it was on camera everyone saw it and no one could deny it. Christianity has a lot of martyrs as well. I left christianity for the "New age" as you put it but looking back over the history I can't say religion is for the weak.

    The problem with Christianity is its eunuch virtues of self abasement and passive suffering.
