Dr. Jean Baptiste Laurent is not an endocrinologist, he's a family medicine physician who trained at a 2-year family medicine residency after medical school at McGill (Canada). He works at a non-physician owned cosmetic/aesthetic clinic that revolves around cosmetic interventions called Clinique AG in Quebec. Really weird you didn't provide the name of your guest when the whole video revolves around his "expertise". I'd like to know on what merits can Dr. Laurent claim that he is a hormone specialist?

Most people know she is not a transgender so stop bringing that up.
The question is where you draw the line with DSD. No one really seem to know exactly what type of tests were used when Imane Khelif was disqualified in 2023 world championship. Most of the time if you look like a man most chance is that you are one.
Intersex also known as disorders of sex development (DSD), occur when infants are born with a mix of male and female genitalia. The disorders cause a mismatch in the external and internal reproductive organs. The child's body may not be completely male, nor totally female. For example, a person may appear female, but have male (XY) chromosomes and testicles; or a person may have female internal organs such as ovaries and a uterus, but have a clitoris that is enlarged to resemble a penis.

Two male boxers won gold in women’s Olympic boxing. How did this happen?
Imane Khelif, a man, boxed against Angela Carini during the Olympics. Some people are upset, others are defending this, some are saying the criticism directed at Khelif is just a plot to get Algeria disqualified.
Khelif had been disqualified from professional boxing in the female category before because the IBA did two sex tests on him and the IBA claims that the results show that he is a man cheating by pretending to be a woman. Same as another controversial boxing contestant for the female category, Lin Yu-ting.
Neither of them contested their disqualification in the end which makes it even more suspicious.
The IOC discontinued all sex testing years ago, their only eligibility criteria are now whether someone has the marker for female on their passport. This is why both of the boxers were still able to participate in the Olympics.
Khelif won against his opponent after just 46 seconds. Carini took a punch to the face (there are claims he broke her nose) and forfeited the match, saying she had never been hit this hard before.
Carini was seen visibly angry and in tears, on her knees, repeatedly saying “it’s not fair”. Just like Lin Yu-ting’s opponent, she refused to shake hands. Khelif nonetheless approached her twice, smirking, and even groped her breast after winning.
A lot of people were understandably upset. The IOC issued a statement claiming that the true victims of the situation were the two male boxers.
    Now, are they male? Yes.
The IBA defines “woman” as someone with XX-chromosomes, so this leads us to the conclusion that both Lin and Khelif at the very least tested positive for Xy. The test results are available to individual journalists.
Alleged childhood pictures of Khelif surfaced, showing him in pink clothes leading us to believe he was raised as a girl.
His father also presented to the public Khelif’s birth certificate that classifies him as “female”, however, strangely, the birth certificate was only issued in 2018, 19 years after his birth and right at the start of Khelif’s professional boxing career.
Both Imane’s and Lin’s passport is saying they are “female.” Many people have pointed out that a marker on a passport is not indicative of sex in the first place, since many countries have self-identification laws that allow women and men to change their legal sex marker at will. Algeria however is not one of those countries.
Now, there are few disorders of sexual development that can lead to women having Xy chromosomes. Imagine it like this: you have an X and a y and the y malfunctions in some way, leaving only the X.
One of them is Swyer syndrome, which I’ve seen people claim Khelif has. First, there’s no proof for this. Second, there are documentaries about women with Swyer syndrome and Khelif looks nothing like them. I think it’s pretty apparent from his appearance that Khelif has functioning testicles. He has a male frame, Adams apple, male muscle-to-fat ratio, a male voice and wingspan. A now scrubbed online profile of Khelif inside the IOC’s internal system revealed he has high, presumably male level testosterone. There are even pictures of his that show what is clearly male genitalia. Women with Swyer do not develop male genitalia and only produce female levels of testosterone. They also have to go on female hormone replacement therapy to go through puberty.
    More claims debunked:
“The IBA is lying because uh… Russia”
The lab that did the first test is a US-American reference lab and, as well, accredited by CAP, the Northfield, Illinois-based College of American Pathologists, and certified by the ISO, the Swiss-based International Organization for Standardization. The second test was done in New Delhi and turned out identical to the first.
Besides, what kind of incentive would the Russian government have to defend an Italian boxer over an Algerian one? That makes no sense to me. Just btw, the IOC is deeply connected to the WEF. This is not a political issue though, unless we make it.
Both Taiwan and Algeria wrote to the IBA and threatened consequences were they to publish the test results.
It is also worth noting that in 2023 Khelif already accused Morocco of plotting against Algeria by supposedly “getting him disqualified.”
“She is a woman on testosterone”
Khelif is not a woman on testosterone. If that were true, “she” would have to be disqualified for doping. But apart from the fact he has Xy, women who take androgens, even the ones taking a male amount of them, still have female frames. This is me speaking from experience: just look at videos, best unedited, of women on high amounts of testosterone moving. You’ll see they look and move nothing like him, even if they have more muscle and beards.
Khelif tested positive for high testosterone before. Personally, I really wish we knew the exact range he’s in because female and male testosterone levels do not overlap, even in cases of developmental disorders that give women higher testosterone.
“She has a uterus and fallopian tubes”
False and entirely based on the fabricated claim that Khelif has Swyer syndrome.
“Khelif has lost to women before, so she must be a woman”
Even cheaters lose sometimes. And even a loser man has no place in women's boxing.
Of course, it is possible that Khelif has lost several times on purpose.
William “Lia” Thomas, who swam with the women as a man in the USA, was caught several times deliberately not paddling his legs to make the difference between himself and the women look smaller.
Here is a quote from Mexican Brianda Tamara, against whom Khelif boxed in 2022:
“When I fought with her, I felt very out of my depth; her blows hurt me a lot. I don’t think I had ever felt like that in my 13 years as a boxer, nor in my sparring with men. Thank God that day I got out of the ring safely, and it’s good that they finally realized [that he is a man].”
And from boxer Joana Nwamerue who trained with Khelif:
“[Khelif] has some kind of internal issues. But he is a man. I will stay [by] my words until he/she does a test to prove to the world that he/she is a WOMAN. But we all know that won’t happen. [Khelif’s] teammates came to me and told me ‘[Khelif] is a woman and just lives high in the mountains with her relatives and parents and so there may be a change in her testosterone or chromosomes and the like. So myself and my coach watched [Khelif] and I said ‘that can’t be possible.’ Everywhere has people living in the mountains. It’s absurd.”
Nwamerue adds that her coach replied by noting that other world and European boxing federations had implemented bans on him, and that “only the Olympics” was allowing Khelif to compete.
Rafa Lozano, former Olympic boxer and the Technical Commissioner of the Spanish boxing team:
“Whoever we put [Khelif] with was injured.”
    “She was born female”
Fact is, we know he is registered as female. We don’t know why that is, but reasons could be: botched circumcision, born with ambiguous genitalia, parents wanted a girl (unlikely since transgenderism is illegal in Algeria). Personally, I think the second reason is true.
Caster Semenya is another man who competed as female, but later fathered a child with sperm from his internal testicles. Semenya has what’s called 5α-Reductase 2 deficiency. That means Semenya is a normal man whose testes just didn’t drop. In some cases, they drop later.
More things that don’t add up but aren’t proof of anything on their own:
Khelif, coming from a rural Muslim community, was never seen wearing a hijab.
There exist several pictures of him wearing a groin protector specifically for men, never for women. Right after his fight against Carini he was seen doing something on stage that many men seem to recognize as “adjusting his junk.”
Conclusion: to clear things up and avoid spreading misinformation, we should put pressure on the IOC and the athletes to undergo sex testing in a way that ensures we are getting correct unbiased results.
And yes, the media and many disingenuous people online are lying about about this situation and the athletes’ sexes.

UPDATE: Due to his victory against Anna Luca Hamori, Khelif secures a bronze medal and moves on to the semi-finals. Hamori posted an AI-generated picture before the fight showing her confronting a giant monster man. The fact that she has a lighter color in the picture, while Khelif is shown with darker skin, adds fuel to the fire of a discussion about racism that has flared up on Twitter/X.
After the fight against Lin Yu-ting that secured him bronze, Staneva, his opponent, made a double X sign with her hands.
“I only want to play with women, I am double X.”
Khelif won a gold medal, same as Lin.
Even before Khelif received the gold medal, he met with French President Emmanuel Macron. Macron promised Khelif his support. It is interesting to note that Joe Biden (USA) and Olaf Scholz (GER) also previously publicly shook hands in a similar way with men who pretend to be women and want to enter women's spaces.
During the semi-finals against Turkey's Esra Yıldız Kahraman, Lin threw several illegal rabbit punches. Rabbit punches are punches to the back of the head that are illegal in all martial arts including boxing because they have a chance to cause paralysis or death.
He first caught Kahraman at the back of the head with a big left hand that saw Kahraman stumble into the ropes and “showed no mercy” as he hit his opponent despite her facing the other way and holding her arm up.
The referee only stepped in when Lin landed one more final blow to the back of Kahraman’s head.
Despite loud boos from the crowd, Lin avoided being punished.
The IOC is copyright striking videos on RUclips showing the incident.
For comparison: These same Olympics, Vinesh Phogat, a female Indian wrestler, was disqualified from the Olympics for weighing 100 grams more than 50 kgs.

Well, if she has a man's level of testosterone... does that make fighting with her, on par with a man? I still question whether it was fair or not. Because why is taking steroids that increases testosterone and muscle mass, not allowed, but her "natural" conditon that increases testosterone and muscle mass, is allowed?...Also, the careful and unclear wording they used to defend her...they made it sound like she was trans!! And you know what? Reguardless of whether she is trans or not, I don't like the condenscending smirk and pat on the back she gave to her crying and devastated opponent.

It’s important to understand that just because Iman has higher levels of testosterone, it doesn’t make her a man. This is simply a natural condition she was born with and has no control over. Imagine if you were born with this and faced bullying because of it-how would you feel? I’m addressing those who claim to support feminism but still expect women to fit certain beauty standards. Where is your support now? To those who continue to say the Algerian boxer is a man, you’re being unfair. I hope you can empathize and understand her situation by putting yourself in her shoes.

If she has developed more male features as she is developing (humans keep developing into their 20s) then it seems that for this sport the biggest question is does she now have a male muscular structure. Male muscles are stronger and faster than a females (assuming the same level of training) which gives an unfair advantage in a female competition. I'm glad that they mentioned this.

  • @harshmnr
    @harshmnr 4 месяца назад +10

This is definitely a tricky one...but I have to agree. She's female, she's not doping or cheating in any way; she's just naturally more fit for this sport. I agree with comparing it to Michael Phelps-what should he have done, changed his muscle and bone structure to put him on the same level as the other swimmers? Along with black people being better on average in many sports. Their bodies are just naturally better attuned for athletics. Nobody's saying it's not fair for black people and other races to compete together.
The only thing is that if she knew she could have gotten treatment but didn't, and knew that would give her an advantage in her sport..then it gets a little more complicated. But at the end of the day that's a personal choice which she may have made for other reasons too, and she shouldn't have to change her body just to be able to compete.
It's also important to note that it's not like she's gotten to this point just by having stronger muscles. Like, she still had to work hard and develop other skills rather than just brute strength. So it seems to me that she's not only strong but also honestly good at what she does; she's trained for it like everyone else. That's just how it is in sports; you can't get upset if other people do better than you. You just gotta try _your_ best.
Just because Imane was born different, she shouldn't be denied the opportunity to compete in her sport. I can see why it's an issue if she has more testosterone than the average woman but less than the average man...like where does she belong. It would be nice if there was a whole separate category for trans/intersex etc athletes, but there probably aren't enough of them. :/

The first page contains, along with basic identifying information for each athlete and the date and time of sample collection, a summary of the results - "abnormal" - and an interpretation - "chromosome analysis reveals a male karyotype." The second page contains a photographic representation of the 22 paired autosomes and then, for each athlete, additionally shows the X and Y chromosome. The third page explains that the laboratory is a "national reference laboratory" and also accredited by CAP, the College of American Pathologists, located in Northfield in the state of Illinois and certified by ISO, the Swiss International Organization for Standardization.

    Sorry not female ...
    1. Khelif was born with xy chromosomes with DSD 5-ARD deficiency.. Internal testes and no ovaries ... As such, Khelif was misassigned at birth as a female .. same as Caster Semenya and Brittany Griner ...
    2. When Khelif reached puberty, his xy chromosomes kicked in (specifically the y chromosome) releasing normal male levels of testosterone from internal testes and resulting in all the attributes associated with being a male (muscle mass, bone density, lung capacity, larger heart, broader shoulders, deeper voice, etc) .. just look at the video of Khelif walking around Paris .. major broad shoulders and a typical male gait ..
    3. In 2023, Khelif was banned by the IBA for not meeting the female division sex requirements .. ie. Not having xx chromosomes ... Khelif initially appealed this decision but then abandoned it .. when a simple cheek swab would easily prove whether Khelif was xx or xy ... The fact Khelif chose NOT to fight the IBA ban or take this simple test is very telling, if not damning .. hiding behind a dubious passport is not proof of anything..
    4. In 2024, Khelif decides to compete as a woman in the Olympics, knowing the IOC has a loophole in not requiring actual proof that women are xx chromosomal.. Instead, a passport will do, which is zero proof at all !
    5. Any empathy for Khelif I had disappeared upon learning he is gaming the system by KNOWING he is xy chromosomal and STILL deciding to use his xy size/muscle/power advantage to beat up xx women .. the power advantage difference between men and women is massive (one paper cited a 162% difference!) ..
    6. The IOC banned Caster Semenya in the 2024 Olympics for having naturally high testosterone (but ignoring why this is occurring ie. xy chromosomes) ... yet allows Khelif, Lin, and Griner to compete ... the inconsistency is mind-boggling
    7. Algeria should be ashamed knowing full well they are exploiting the IOC's incompetence and willful woke ignorance, instead of actual solid recognized facts and science.
    8. Their egregious decision (IOC) could lead to serious injuries, or even death, to actual xx female athletes. It's just insane.

Issue is with all kinds of movements that are in our era that Olympic Games are outdated, this level of competition has no answer for the current situation? Getting T through a needle is unfair but having it naturally that is out of a norm is? Why double standards? Competitive sports has always been discriminatory in a sense that people either fit in one pole or another and that selection makes the game fair to the rest. Nobody would argue if other ladies with higher T or xy chromosomes would compete with each other. Equality movements got out of hand, and flocking this horse is unethical just because you have a female passport, (most intersex do), its visibly not an unfair game and khalif can be anyone in her personal life but as an athlete its a different story. Its not fair, for the same reason why not eliminating the age limit as well to watch adult people beating up children. Khalif attitude is fishy saluting like a soldier but crying about inequality in interviews.

I think ppl should be fighting within testosterone ranges just like weight ranges. I know, it sounds silly, but you can't take T at the olympics for a reason. It's incredibly powerful. And for contact sports, it could endanger someone's life. If you have 4 times more T than the average female, you will win. It's like, why are we even bothering with the match? It's a guarantee. You watch boxers that are equally matched because you can actually watch their strategy. I wouldn't watch two very skilled boxers fight each other if one is twice the size. There's no art to winning for them. It's gonna last, well, 40s and be over.

The doctor's logic is at fault when applied to sports. Of course, anyone can use their natural advantages. If you have super long arms and play basketball, good for you. There are no leagues for long and short arms, so it's not an issue. But in this case, there are categories for male and female. So the question "in regard to sports" is not if Amine is male or female, but if she has the male advantages or not. This is sport, not social life and personal identity.

There are two ways to see it. 1-We might say like the IBA that chromosomes decide your sexe and that’s it. 2-We might allow some sexe ambiguity for intersex people and think chromosomes, while the most important marker, is not the only one, but a set of parameters need to be considered. In both cases, Imane doesn’t pass the test because even if we accept ambiguity in regards to Amine’s sexe, the male advantages Amine had did result in higher testosterone levels that visibly shaped Amine’s body and strength. So I’m not saying that sexe ambiguity exists. It might be that chromosomes are all we need. But what I’m saying is that even if we do accept the idea of ambiguity like this doctor says, Amine still doesn’t pass the test because obviously, testosterone has had it’s effet on Amine in producing some male advantages.

IF she is an xx real female with naturally high testosterone, or a condition causing it, fine. But Semanye has DSD is xy and was banned. Semanye is allowed to compete if he reduces his testosterone medically. (he tried but it made him ill) If Imane has xy chromosomes it's THE SAME THING! The doctor is guessing here. They could have been born with 'micro peni$' a medical term. Doctors will assign female in most cases. The only way to stop the guessing is testing.
Women's sports depends on this! This interview was based on pure assumptions. IBA claims xy and male testosterone levels. If IOC are going to say IBA lied, prove it!!

    • @daedalron
      @daedalron 4 месяца назад

Semanye is not XY. If she was, she would be a man. To my understanding, she is XXY. She is still a woman with DSD, not a man contrary to what you're claiming.
We don't know about Khelif chromosomes. The IBA "test" is very very dubious, especially considering all the cases of corruption with this organization. But even if she was XXY, the mandatory hormone treatment is only for Athletics, not other sports.

@@daedalronI should have said "she", referring to Semanye. I didn't actually call "her" a man though. (I understand your correction there, but that's a whole other topic.) Like you say, there are no actual results to go on. If the IOC has made the decision not to test, and since they over rule any Olympic events, individual categories won't matter anyway. Almost any event could be effected by testosterone. As it stands, there is no method to exclude
      even 100% biological men.

    • @daedalron
      @daedalron 4 месяца назад

@@laurykristensen6239 When I said you claimed Semenya as a man, that was based on you calling her "he" instead of "she". I take now your clarification into account.
Semenya is technically an intersex individual with female genitalia (and therefore assigned female at birth). Khelif might be in the same situation, but there are no official confirmation from reliable sources.
"Almost any event could be affected by testosterone"
That's true, but that's also the case of plenty of other natural advantages an athlete can have over others. Being born tall is a huge advantage for basket or volleyball, for example. Having slightly longer arms to body ratio also helps for combat sports to give more reach.
Why would we consider some natural advantages legal (body shape for ex), and some illegal (higher testosterone level)?

    • @fomobull4187
      @fomobull4187 4 месяца назад +2

I doubt she is able to sue alone, it is not free. Amateur boxers rarely get paid and olympic boxing is an amateur league, not pro. If you win a medal in the olympics, you get paid whatever your own country decides to pay you. The olympics give you a medal but no prize. The IBA now claims she withdrew her appeal. She did not withdraw. She just did not pay when asked to pay legal costs so the appeal case was dropped on her. She was 23 back then and from a humble background. But Algeria ought to step in.
It is very plain from watching the actual fights that she is not "a dude". The fights were not mismatched. She did not just show up and suckerpunch everyone. The haters are delusional or mean. I do not know the biology here but no way she is just a normal man or even close. It is not hard to see in the fights. She is also a woman down there. I do not know why people insist on shaming this woman who in the worst case has some sort of medical condition that barely gives an advantage, and who might also just be a good boxer.
