    I find your videos very interesting maybe because I am about to enter the age where most professional athletes starts declining. Keep up the good work and looking forward for more.

      Thanks! It means a lot - I think you're the first "real" youtuber that's noticed me.

    Glad I found you. I’m in my mid 40s, with a good history of “weights” but getting into calisthenics. I really appreciated your video outlining your training schedule. I’m following that to avoid injury. You’ll be a good guide for my next decade. I figure I still have time for a muscle up or HSPU.

      Sorry - somehow I never replied to this.
      Thanks! I appreciate the support. And yes - you can definitely get the muscle up and HSPU!

    I can relate to your content, im 43 and my mind says just do it, then my body says " whyd you do it?" Ive been working towards SMU on the rings for roughly 18 months. Im close but i am being a little distracted by trying to transfer it to the bar to compliment the rings like a moth flying to close to the light. Keep up the channel cos you definitively have an audience. Im looking at ballet fundamentals that are low impact like pointe for leg development - not a mid life crisis or bucket list i guess just wanna do it😅

      Thanks - I appreciate it! Muscle ups and ballet huh? That’s cool! I also have eclectic interests.

    I started seriously training calisthenics at 29, about a year and a half ago. I remember that after doing lots of pull ups, my shoulder, specifically my supraspinatus started hurting. I couldn't even raise my arm. I took a couple of weeks off and it healed on its own.
    This does worries me a little because I haven't even reached a good level in my calisthenics journey and I am already reaching my declining age.
    I guess the only thing left is keep going while keeping in mind this kind of thing. No one is getting any younger

    • @The_Aging_Warrior

      Don't worry though - you're still young. Your body is very capable of healing. You probably just overdid it. You have to do things carefully. When I was around your age, my lower back got so bad that I thought I'd never do anything athletic ever again. And I didn't do much for around 10 years.
      I think that the key is to cycle your training in some sensible way, and to incorporate elements that can bulletproof (or rehab) your tendons. Face pulls seems to be a good one for rotator cuff problems.

    Very well explained and logical analysis of the reasons why I am having this nagging shoulder pain and the chronic dull aches of my muscles. I’m 5 months short of 67, feeling like I’m stronger than I was at any time before, I can do explosive strict muscle up, slow muscle up, a decent form front lever for 5 sec but I always have this dull aches on my upper body. I train almost every day. I will start taking more rest days between workout based on what you said. Please let know the treatment on the rotating cups because I think I got the same problem. Thanks for this great topics.

      Thanks! And Wow - you're 66 and you can do muscle ups and front lever? That's inspirational!

      @@The_Aging_Warrior Thank you but this proves what you explained on this video is correct: I have a hard time with
      movements that require flexibility. For example, I really want to do the gymnastics kipping muscle up but still couldn’t do it. I think my tendons and joints are getting stiffer. Anyway I really enjoy your video . You’re also very for your age and your athletic coordination is way better than me.

      @@dieu-huyentran5185 Hmmm, yeah - sorry to hear about your stiffer joints. I would definitely fight back with flexibility and mobility training, especially since you don't seem to be injured.

      @@The_Aging_Warrior my left shoulder does get hurt now so I’m talking some time off. For me , calisthenics is a journey, knowing with my age , some of the difficult exercises I may never master them but it’s fun just try to learn them, or going thru the progression…

    My own experience, and research I've seen, indicates that you also lose power as you age. Explosive movements become much harder. I see this clearly with hill sprints and powerful moves in rock climbing - I have no chance of keeping up with younger kids, even though I know I am way more "fit" than many of them.

    • @The_Aging_Warrior
      @The_Aging_Warrior  3 года назад

      Yeah, that may be true. Fortunately, I haven't experienced that yet. My sprinting uphill and jumping abilities are about the same (maybe a little less, but nothing noticeable). And I was able to learn fast muscle ups recently. However, all that may be because I wasn't all that well trained in the first place. In other words, my potential for power may have decreased a lot but maybe I didn't notice it because I was nowhere near my potential.

    I don’t know what is your diet like but i would suggest plant based diet for better recovery. Actually going fruitarian (no nuts, seed and fatty fruits) would fix your shoulder (and your total physical problems) even faster.

    Interesting vid and lots of food for thought. Have you tried trigger point therapy for the shoulder? High rep full ROM light weight could be good for joints and connective tissue, such as Weck rope flow, yoga flow.

    • @The_Aging_Warrior
      @The_Aging_Warrior  3 года назад

      Thanks - I've actually never heard of trigger point therapy. I'll look into it. I've tried very high reps in the past and they seemed to make things worse. At the moment I'm trying a combination of medium intensity/reps with isometric holds and just finding new exercises that don't hurt my shoulder. But I'm very interesting in what the ortho and physical therapist will say.

    • @Alien_Frog_king
      @Alien_Frog_king 3 года назад +1

      I think the problem with most professionals is they don't have sports/exercise experience and don't know what we do/ the effects that occur. Also, they exclusively look for solutions in their field of expertise. Trigger points can be supposedly so bad they replicate surgery grade problems so definitely worth trying first .
