The AFL is not a level playing field, that is a FACT! There are numerous areas where one team or another is advantaged or disadvantaged. The end out come is some teams are regularly more successful than others. And yes, some clubs are run better than others, and that also affects onfield success. The draft and other initiatives are fine, but really the ONLY way of evening up the competition, is for the less successful club to be allowed a higher Salary cap, both on field and off. A transparent model that benefits to lower clubs each year, and less salary cap to the higher placed clubs. With this system, leading clubs would be forced to trade, and lower clubs could "buy" the players its needs. It should and would be impossible for a Premiership team to repeat their success, because they would have the lowest salary cap. Now it doesn't have to be huge difference, but at least 10% which would mean probably 1 A grader, or 2 B Graders. The Goal the AFL should be aiming for is each and every club wins a premiership every 20 years or so. That would be a healthy competition. Currently, successful clubs, stay successful, and attract the best players, coaches, staff. Less successful clubs, can draft, but then lose the player a few years later. Horne Francis is the classic example. Gold Coast have had enough stars but they all left for successful clubs. Salary Cap Money is the answer to levelling up the competion, not draft picks or $handouts because the AFL makes your team play Sunday twighlight games. Its a simple fix and would work, thats why the big fish clubs won't allow it.
Geelong must have a certain way to get all these big fish every trade every year they must run out off money or salary cap sooner or later I dont know how they can manage it and to not be in debt
@@Comatosedpeanut hats irrelevant, the question is why is it ok for the 2023 premiers Collingwood to have THREE father son players in their winning team but it is not ok for Brisbane to have one Ashcroft in its winning team and another next year.

Bidding system 100% needs to be fairer for F/S, NGAs and Northern Academies. With that said, Northern Academies should not be lumped into the same category as the other two. GCS, Lions, Swans and Giants have been absolute feeder clubs for the traditional state teams for years and years. The Northern Academies helps to equalize the system, given these clubs constantly hemorrhage players that want to “go home” without getting any “go home” players themselves. What purpose does F/S play other than romanticism? NGAs were only brought in because other clubs were whinging about the NAs - and now they get first dibs on highly rated players without putting in any meaningful development. Guys like Mac Andrew, JUH, Quaynor etc were already playing footy and were only eligible because of their nationality and they fell into a certain zone. NGAs in particular are an absolute rort and serves no real purpose to draftee development. The fact the AFL re-invoked the old NGA bidding rules is a complete slap in the face to the draft.
11:20 Harsh. Fine, talk about fitness and performance, but please desist, at least for the sake of the many young, impressionable and vulnerable people watching, from attacking a person's weight or a person's psychological wellbeing. Enough is enough.

McCartin ??? Don’t be a fool he’s more important than the DUD Armarty and McDonald unfortunately the latter is contracted for another 4 years 🤷🏻♂️
Blakey? He did more than half your team in the GF. Even when the game was done he hauled ass trying to catch ah chee to stop another goal.
Lions fan BTW
Maybe the Saints should focus on looking in the mirror
Improve ya footy club instead of whinging about things😂
Like most of cornes' comments, they crumble under sensible debate.
Not all father son works, Gavin Brown, Tony Shaw, Graig Kelly sons didn't make it
Saints blame others when they could have had Bont and petrraca but missed those two picks
Everyone wants to move to Queensland except football players. I don't think so.
Who would replace joe at the lions?
stop comparing father son picks to NGA, there hundreds of young guys come out of the academy each year.
Geelong must have a certain way to get all these big fish every trade every year they must run out off money or salary cap sooner or later I dont know how they can manage it and to not be in debt
its because the players accept lower pay to have more top players so that they have a better chance at a flag.
It’s cause they get cotton on deals similar to what Judd got with Visy. Surely it’s dodgey.
@@jonsnow3521lol bs. Cotton on pays them to come down, it’s shady asf.
Cotton on or not geelong just can't get who ever they want when it comes to the afl draft every year
Geelong is doing wrong it's amazing all clubs haven't put a complain about it cotton on or no cotton on as its sponsor if it's correct.
Victorian clubs sooking about 'fairness' is hilarious.
Isn’t it funny Daicos brothers at mighty Collingwood premiership side but two Ashcroft brothers at Brisbane is terrible.
No one bid on Josh daicos till late in the draft. No one rated him.
@@Comatosedpeanut hats irrelevant, the question is why is it ok for the 2023 premiers Collingwood to have THREE father son players in their winning team but it is not ok for Brisbane to have one Ashcroft in its winning team and another next year.
The father son rule is inherently flawed. I'd love for it to stay in the game but there needs to be an offset for the benefit that it brings to certain clubs if it remains.
Brisbane lost last year's flag by 4 points 10 league changes .
father/sons should be free. You are paying for the future that you can't see into
Kane did just justify the point of the academy the other guy doesn't understand the. Home factor effect Lohmann though of leaving Fages told him stay put and you work hard and eventually be rewarded we lost so many players back then Kane kudos for justify the past and now the present
So St Kilda will have access to the sons of other clubs champions...to ruin and cast aside after their bad system turns them to shit. Yeah, how about you fix your own club's culture both on and off the field so that the children of champions want to come and play for you?
I'll be the first to say these young men are paid way too much on top of the elite 24/7 health and fitness support the rest of us could only dream of and so many of us just simply go without, but the anger and bitterness with which you attack Oliver, particularly around his weight and sense of belonging - no doubt psychosocial for him and something no multimillion-dollar contract, as sickening as that is to me, can resolve in a highly prioritised team environment - is shameful. Fine, talk about fitness and performance, but please desist, at least for the sake of the many young, impressionable and vulnerable people watching, from attacking a person's weight or a person's psychological wellbeing. Enough is enough.
Sack Hinkley.
Corn is right on the money. The father son system is a complete joke
The father son is one of those things that you hate right until the moment you get a good one, then it’s like Christmas for the fan base
Father son is a lottery. If your team is lucky enough to have past players having sons rather than daughters you’re half a chance. The whining about this is ridiculous. System is the same for everyone in this regard.
You’re wrong on both points. Kane never said the father son system is a joke, and it’s also not a joke, it’s just complete luck. The academy system is flawed.
When nick revolt three boys come of age
st kilda won’t be singing that tune
No guarantees though, Darren Jarmans kids were total spuds in terms of football ability.
His 3 sons will be in a retirement home and St kilda still won't win a flag... that club is gay AF !!
St Kilda didn't have the good sense to tank like the rest around them mid pack. Let's not get into the match review and umpiring special circumstances for the St's.
Father son is such typically Australian nepo bullshit
Don't hate the player hate the game
The fact that it exists or that clubs use it? Which part is nepotism?
@nicokent9648 That's not nepotism. Nepotism is when people without merit gain wrongful reward or advantages because of who their family is or knows. All the father/son recruits would have had a spot on a list even if they weren't related to anyone who ever played football.
Get out of your comfy offices and come check out Aussie rules environment in Queensland. Geez you guys are blinkered. Most people can’t stand it.
Trevi, u must b a broncos tradgety. U r not right.
