My dryer (Amana) quit blowing heat last night and I found that the high temp thermal fuse was blown about a half an hour ago. Just came across this video and tried it. One swift smack with a pair of pliers and I'm back up and running. Thank you for posting this, saved me a bunch of money!!!!!!!!!
You're welcome but don't just treat the cough cure the cold. The fuse is triggered because your heating element got too hot or the inside drum temperature got too hot. Be sure to check your lint screen and vent hose to be sure there's no air restrictions

@@LeanOnYourRep something else many people are not aware of, the lint screen could have an invisible film over it keeping the heat and moisture from getting out of the drum. This is especially true if dryer sheets are used. Lightly oour a little water on the screen itself. If the water puddles up, it is an indication that the screen is clogged. Wash the screen with detergent of some sort and rinse. Use some sort of small brush, maybe a toothbrush you no longer use. I have used a rag. Water should flow easily through the screen. If not, the heat will build up in the drum. The operating stat cannot tell the element to turn off. The element cage gets to hot and trips the thermal cutoff. I usually put these between two fingers and slap them on concrete floor or something else that does not give. When I can, I also try to avoid hittlng the little piece that fits in the heater housing. It keeps the cutoff from hitting flat when I slap it against a congrete floor.

I kept blowing this fuse and used this trick to reset. Now usually there is a reason they blew. Check easy stuff, if not lint trap or vent tube.. .instead of taking your whole dryer apart to get to the goodies grab a high powered leaf blower... open door to dryer and shoot a tornado up its butt thru the exhaust going opposite direction to get all the dust bunnies out the front of the dryer. Now once the air clears... if your lucky like me your thermo fuse won't pop anymore :)

Well that fuse doesn't trip because it's bad it means you're dryer got too hot. number one cause usually is the heat regulator which is the fuse directly underneath and connected to the heating element. I have another video showing how to test your heat regulator
Sounds like you're treating the cough and not the cold. The high limit fuse goes off because there is an overheating issue usually at the element. The fuse that's directly on the element regulates the Heat, if it's not working properly the element will stay on and overheat and the high limit turns off as a backup
That fuse should reset itself, it's a mechanical self resetting fuse. You need to replace it as it's mechanically broken and is quite cheap, make sure you buy for the right temperature. When you hit it hard on the face what you do is that you push to metal plates together. You deform them which means that they will not expand/contract and disconnect as they should, in worst case scenario your dryer might overheat and start a fire. In best case scenario the fuse will disconnect at too early temperature and your dryer wont function optimally. They are cheap, if you buy online and get duds, buy several of them or buy from a reputable source which might be more expensive but it's worth being able to sleep at night and not having to worry about a fire which would cost much more than the fuse as it would at least cost whatever a new dryer costs.
I appreciate the video but you're doing the same thing everyone else is and you said it yourself what is causing that I keep having that fuse go out I need help and finding out what is causing it everything is clean airflow is fine no lint issues anywhere
The video you watch was just on how to reset that fuse. I have other videos explaining the cause. Most likely your thermostat is bad that is the fuse that's right on top of the heating element it controls the heating element turning off and on and most likely yours is stuck in the on position.
Probably was all in the smack not really the freezer. Remember to test the fuse on thats on the heating Element too with a lighter as a shows in my video. That high limit fuse that you smacked is like a check engine light in a car.

If you have a freezer available, cooling the bi-metal element down before the "smack" will make it much easier to reset. Many times just cooling the element below freezing is enough to snap the element back down on it's own.
Every person following your advice is now at risk of a house fire due to a faulty limiter. You aren't resetting it you are breaking it so it no longer functions. Better off to spend the $20.

I threw mine in the freezer overnight and did the ground smack - 2nd smack reset it.
