The R-73s use FOV clampdown IRCCM. Basically, the _instant_ that the missile launches, it's seeker field of vision (the little circle in WT) shrinks to a very tiny 0.75 degrees. Roughly the size of the little yellow circle aiming crosshair you get in tank battles. This means if you launch an R-73 at close range, it's _literally impossible_ to flare most of the time because the enemy plane's entire aircraft fills up the whole circle, and there isn't room in the circle for it to see flares. But, if you fire at long range, it'll just see flares the same as any other non-IRCCM missile. Anyways put simply, R-73s win at point blank range. Thrust vectoring, extreme agility, and FOV clampdown make an awesome combo.
I feel the Su-27 is a skill cannon and not an easy plane to use. If you turn in the wrong place or the wrong time, you’re pretty much done. You may get away with in the F-15 due to its incredible thrust and acceleration. An unchecked Su-27 is very effective. If you want to be effective in the Su-27, you need to fly like Ukrainians.
as long as you keep your nose pointed right at the enemy, you are golden, once you no longer have it pointed right at them, good luck, and don’t turn , stay fast and get out.
IDK about that, its much easier to rely on busted missiles for effectiveness than it is to rely on maneuverability. with missiles, you can just go into HMD mode and sling off missiles at everyone rather than having to turn fight people one at a time.
@@wicked-w7l Of cause if a Su-27 is unchecked, then it can be very effective since it got the best missile set for now. However, even the best missiles can still be evaded. R-27ER won’t be able hit you if you fly low enough and it’s easier to flare the R-73 than the AIM-9M. Also, pre-flaring is extremely effective against R-73.
The Su-27 is very potent at all ranges imo, the ETs can easily snipe someone up 8-10km’s, and ofc the ERs for BVR and R73 for the merge. (Also the Su-27 and F-15J is so fun in SIM, I had a few 27+ kill games with the F-15J)
on the topic of the r73's irccm it is actually rather flare resistant however its just easier to spoof than the aim9m due to how its irccm works. which is by narrowing the missiles seeker fov once its off the rail unlike the aim9ms irccm which just turns off the seeker once it detects flares and guiding via your last known trajectory, which is why aim9ms might seem unflarable while the r73s might appear rather flare hungry. to make sure an r73 hits usually launch from rear aspect within 1.5km anything closer is a guaranteed kill usually unless its frontal aspect. while to spoof an aim9m is rather harder as you cant just cut your burner and flare, you have to constantly flare and make drastic maneuvers to get out of the aim9ms seeker fov before it reactivates
Wow, the fact that people have the urge to tell us how to play the game, since apparently arcade is wrong according to this comments, is astonishing to me.
So, I think a while back you mentioned something about a4e’s being good and being able to counter a plane you were using. Just that the people using them doesn't know how to. So maybe make a vid on it?
Back when WT came out of closed beta we used regular rockets to shoot planes for fun. It always disappointing to see a direct hit and all you get is sparks, from a fucking unguided missile wtf
Hi Aoeilaeiepae, after watching this video, I proceeded to jump in a top tier air AB match and kill 11 planes for the first time. I have really only played props in air AB, really proves how those players are brain dead.
Sure. Magic 2s have an unusually long delay in arming their fuse, and don't turn well right after they launch - so they're medium range only. At short range, your only weapon is your gun. The F1C'S missiles also have a ton of drag. I started matches by dumping them on the ground and side climbing lol, then attacking when they've reloaded. The Radar missiles are great except they're very vulnerable to Chaffe. At the start of the match, they're just missiles to spam. By the end, once people have dragged out planes with no countermeasures, THEY MOP UP. The 530Fs are better than the 530, but in practice if a target will die to the 530F, itll usually die to the 530 too. In a downtier, take radar missiles. In an uptier, you might want to consider taking gun pods. The gun pods actually have less drag than the missiles, and it gives you a lot more close range firepower. Make sure to use your radar to aim - go watch my bullets guide or vautour video if you won't know how to do that.
use your magic 2s, because they are one of the few 11.3 missiles with ECCM, and its the same value as the R-73, so basically you get a missile with insane close range flare resistance.
I almost included the whole thing in this video because it was funny, but it was also a loooong tangent. The TL;dr is the fan on the enemy was like "woot!!!! go kill the entire team!" when I had 6 or 7 kills and then, like, all the enemy players realized I needed to die and started aggressively focusing me all at once lol. But that clip was me dodging the Crazy Gripen Man's first barrage of AIM-9Ms, and my countermeasures were on reload. He got me the next time, though.
man I really like the way you make your content and everything, and I try to never be negative but the urge I feel to comment you that you should GO PLAY FUCKING REALISTIC
@@Aoeilaeiepae you get 10 missiles in RB, that's way more than enough. in RB, you also have to think about using your ammo wisely rather than just spamming missiles with very low probability of kill and holding down left click at close range. with how good the missiles are on the SU-27, it is not impossible for all of those to hit their target, as I have had 6 kill games in ARB using the F-16C without rearming. heck, I have had 6 kill games in the F-4S in a max uptier.
@@Aoeilaeiepaelet's be real here. Realistic isn't realistic either. A realistic air battle game would be flying around getting denied permission to engage before getting smoked by a SAM or Patriot system. Or dying randomly to a BVR missile.

Yeah, the nutshell vibe I got with the SU-27 was that it's a MiG-21S that I can't trash-talk people while flying.

Maybe in arcade. In RB it’s probably the most braindead jet. The only thing it’s good at and the only thing it’s capable of is slinging missiles.
