- In this "virtual drumclinic" Flo Mounier explains how he developed his skills, talks about his creative approaches in extreme drumming as well as about his ways of composing and finally shows some warm-up routines.
The interview was shot during Cryptopsy's European Tour with Cattle Decapitation & Decrepit Birth at Steinbruchtheater/Darmstadt (04/16/2013) Видеоклипы
Having Met Flo (and a bunch of other DM drummers) - It's a constant source of amusement for me about how nice, polite and chill they are, and then you listen to their music which is Brutal, confronting and chaotic - the contrast is amazing.
Great video, very informative and interesting. Thanks Flo for the insight and for your inspiring work over the years! Cheers Philipp & Drumtalk!
+DirkVerbeurenDrummer you're very welcome!!! Flo is indeed a very nice person to be around with. smart, funny & great to talk to, since he's not one of the "me, myself & i" people. hope to see you sometime soon on the road! cheers/phil
Master Dirk
This man is a monster drummer and seems like a really cool guy
both very much YES!
I REALLY REALLY Have been a fan of Flo Mounier's playing since Whisper Supremacy Disk. And he seems so articulate and aware of his approach that this video only enhances what I have always feel about his playing. He is the main reason I like Cryptopsy.
I could literally watch you talk about drums all day
Drumtalk is the shit! These are amazing interviews. You've picked the best death metal guys to interview and get them on such a personal level. It's so cool. great job guys
Flo has such a calming presence! I want to hug him for forever.
Every drumtalk from you features an awesome drummer. Keep on, it's so great to see fresh interviews with these guys. Plus this black and white style is very good and pleasing to watch.
I am not a drummer, I am not a musician, and even though I listen to a lot of metal, Cryptopsy is certainly not my go-to band, but, man, is he a pleasure to listen to - both his drumming AND his talking.
v respectful & #1 priority is safety 🥺💗
One of the best extreme drummers out there!
you interview the BEST drummers... keep on keeping on!!!
This guy is a true professional
fantastic video, surprised no one has commented..serious good advice
Flo is an excellent drummer but he's also incredibly distinctive which I think is more important; I don't think any band sounds like Crytopsy which is saying something in such a saturated genre.
Thanks for the wise and informative words to understand more your musical approach Flo!
Thank you so much Drumtalk!
You're welcome Voltmand!
King of extreme metal drumming
Happy birthday Flo 🎂
there're some basic bodybuilding tips, about motion economy and muscle rest. Good shit Flo!
So good. Seriously.
Amazing advice and tips. Seriously!
this fella right here is the reason modern death metal is sounding like it is but no one and I mean not a soul can come close to the god known as flo from the almighty CRYPTOPSY
Donna Moffitt yeah maybe jamie st from ulcerate is out with him
Isaac Zaladar almost I just feel flo has more feeling plus you gotta admit without none so vile drumming was revolutionized and after that in my opinion everyone else was trying to catch up
yeah but have you heard ulcerate ??and jamie ultra dynamic playing is just the next evolution !!!
Isaac Zaladar I have heard them i like them but I have certain people who influence me and I get obsessed with them i play guitar and flo is the drummer I write for in my own little world I am influenced by SRV,LUC LEMAY, RORY GALLAGHER,JASON BECKER,ROY BUCHANAN,ABBATH, and SCOTT HULL I know its a wide range of influences and to me flo and maybe John longstreth could fit in what I want to do musically i feel most death metal drummers get tunnel vision when it comes to writing and those two always have something different don't get me wrong I like alot of extreme drummers to me they are the best in the music business for instance Pete weber from Havok is beyond solid as is George from Nile again just remember these are my opinions and I like the fact that your not an asshole who feels the need to force a change of mind or taste on me
Donna Moffitt There are many drummers who provide the same amount of influence and talent, just different flavours. My favorite drummer is John Merryman from Cephalic Carnage.
What a great drummer :)
thx FLO
great words!
excellent.
Obst auf Hessisch! Geil! Thx for showing the world most drummers are smart people!
Amazing Video
great guy indeed
I’m curious what kind of snare, tuning and micing on “Blasphemy made Flesh”? Sounds quite unique!
Interesting. Funny how because he's assimilated the North American accent well, although being a Quebecker, he almost sounds like a Scandinavian speaking english. If I didn't know his background, just hearing him speak I'd have thought he would be Swedish.
🥺 🤘🏻
what was that first song he played with the full band?
+Caleb Bliss it's 'Cold Hate, Warm Blood' from 1998's "Whisper Supremacy". The whole clip is on my channel ruclips.net/video/lmlH4ukRMuU/видео.html
14:45
13:29 ah, so that's why Lord Worm left the band
I used to love this band, but their new (well, not so new anymore, but you get what I'm saying) "singer" sucks beyond belief and destroys everything...
Mat Mc gachi es un fiasco!! 😝💩
