    You’re humidity is extremely low, even, below the recommended levels for health which should be between 30-50%. I live in Florida where outside humidity is often very high. 90% in the summertime is not uncommon. Running a dehumidifier with some fans makes the air feel extremely cool at just 77°. Yes, the dehumidifier makes hot air but if you’re running several fans to circulate that air, it will feel cooler. The reason we “feel” cooler is because our sweat evaporates making us feel cool. Sweat can’t evaporate whenever humidity is too high. It feels hot and muggy. Lowering the humidity and running a fan will allow your body to cool itself properly. When the humidity is low, the fan feels cold. When humidity is high, the fan feels like it’s just blowing around hot muggy air. It’s just the opposite in the wintertime. Florida’s high humidity makes cold days feel even colder. It feels cold and wet at the same time. It’s bone chilling cold at 40° in Florida whereas the same temperature in a less humid environment isn’t nearly as uncomfortable.

      You’re idea is basically how an air conditioner works. It compresses refrigerant into a liquid that evaporates and cools the air. The refrigerant is compressed into a liquid again and the cycle continues. The AC is a closed system. Running a swamp cooler and a dehumidifier seems inefficient as it’s not a closed system. The dehumidifier might not be able to keep up. Swamp coolers are best in dry climates where humidity is not an issue.

If no effort is made to cut down on excess moisture, we are back to square one, inducing more humidity and mold growth. The tradeoff from lower humidity and higher temp is a paradox. We need to take a hybrid approach to cut down moisture production, ventilate and dehum to prevent temperature increases and mold growth.

    • @rahul1353
      @rahul1353 2 года назад +1

      Evaporative coolers literally evaporate water adding moisture. This will make the dehumidifier run longer and just heat up the space. How or why does it heat up the space?
      The dehumidifier is in itself a modified air conditioner, however the condenser coil that's normally placed outdoors to dissipate heat is simply inside the unit, side by side with the evaporator coil. The fan sucks in the humid air passes it through the condenser coil, heating it up.....then it continues on through the evaporator coil which is frigid cold and sucks the moisture out through condensation and drips it down the the collection bucket.
      In theory the amount of heat and cold should negate itself and the output air should be of the same temperature as input air, but with less moisture. However in practice, the dehumidifier has an electric fan and other electronic components that dissipate a little bit of heat inside the system, which blows out with the dehumidified air. So the net total of the air coming out of the dehumidifier will be slightly warmer.
      If only a dehumidifier is used, it will over time warm up the room to the output air temperature.
      But at the same temperature, dry air feels 'cooler' than humid air. So it's essential to set your AC to cool to a desired temperature and use a dehumidifier only if the AC isn't removing enough moisture. The AC also dehumidifies, cos it's just a more sophisticated dehumidifier. Just like a dehumidifier, every air conditioner needs access to a drain to drip out captured moisture.

  • @yellowbird5411
    @yellowbird5411 Год назад

    A dehumidifier can make a humid room feel much more comfortable as it takes the water out of the air. However, dehumidifiers throw off heat, and that can heat up the room, even though the lower humidity is there. I have one, I live in Florida. I love it, because of the humidity, even with my central h/a, it can get sticky. So when it's off, the humidity is around 70, and when I leave it for a couple of days it will drop down to around 40, and the room feels much drier and softer. Unfortunately, these can't be used for cooling due to the heat being thrown off, and in fact, in the winter, I use it to help put some heat into the room to take the chill off.

  • @nilsfrahm1323
    @nilsfrahm1323 2 года назад +2

    Dehumidifier is good instead of AC if you have high humidity, like 60-70% and hot, like 30C or more.
    If you reduce humidity to 50C, even if room is hot, your body will no longer sweat that much, it evaporates quickly, you cool down and body stops oversweating. I use also a pedestal fan, which helps sweat go away even faster.
    So Dehumidifier + Fan is good solution if you have no AC or if need to lower electric bill. Dehumidifier can work only short time, like 30min per evening if room is small. Fan runs 24/7, just 40Watts.

And since it uses energy (electricity), all that energy should be eventually turned into heat, so it will only increase the temperature.

    High humidity cancels out the air conditioner's cooling effect. When the humidity is too high, your building will feel warmer than it is. You may find yourself running the air conditioner harder for longer and not getting the desired effects.
    That's from Google. So if you live in a hot area, you need air conditioning. If you live in a very dry, hot area, you can use evaporative cooling.
    Other than the desert Southwest, USA's hot states are humid. The slight increase in temperature from a dehumidifier is worth the extra cooling from the a/c after you've brought the humidity down.
