Thanks for video. And also there is power shuttle transmission which is between them. Both good specs

Thanks for posting this - I've always wanted to see a shuttle in action, specifically on the 2555 so this video is absolutely perfect.

So in other words what's now called a "shuttle shift" is what us old guys called a manual transmission back in the day.

Does it roll with the clutch engaged?

Thank you for explaining. Hydrostatic all the way!

So the big question for me is which type transmission will give you more drawbar pulling power and by what percentage when comparing similar tractors

I just purchased the Massey Ferguson 1825 with the shuttle transmission backhoe and front end loader. I also got the bush hog 60in and the mechanical thumb for the backhoe. 2021 model everything total $31,000 USD. Absolutely cannot go without the shuttle transmission. That's just my opinion. The torque that you get to the dirt is quite a bit above the hydrostat.

Question ? Never operated a Mahindra but have operated John Deere & Kubota with the shuttle shift and you dont have to use the clutch when shifting betwwen forward & reverse for loader work or just taking off clutch is for fine movement, so does the Mahindra need to use clutch with their shuttle shift ?, as far as hydrostatic goes Ive operated a J Deere and its great but I think if someone really got use to shuttle shifting without clutch it could be pretty efficient as there levers you can just flick from steering wheel

Every shuttle shift tractor needs to be clutched when shifting from forward to backward, or you will burn up the synchronizers and grind the transmission, it does not matter the brand. What you had was probably a power shuttle. Mahindra offers the power shuttle on the 3500 series tractors, where you can shift without clutching from forward to reverse, as well as on their higher horsepower tractors.

yes JD Power Reverser & Kubota with there version and now I see you guys make it too , dont need to use clutch except actual gear changes or fine movement Thanks

Shuttle shift basically = manual shift gearbox, Hydrostat basically = automatic transmission where forward and reverse are controlled by forward/reverse petals.

Big Hoss here wearing a 'if aint red it stays in the shed shirt' for his video and then finishes it parked next to a blue tractor.

Thanks for watching our videos and for your comment. That blue tractor was one we were working on, obviously. It then went directly back to the shed.

I have two tractors with one having the standard shift transmission in it, and the other one having the hydrostatic transmission in it. One is used primarily to pull my bush hog, and the other one is used to pull all the other implements I own.
My brother just purchased a new Mahindra 1533 tractor and other implements to go with it. He still have his older finishing mower which he got when he bought his first tractor. That is what he keeps attached to his tractor most of the time.

Jeff, I love the shuttle 12F/12R transmission in my Mahindra 2540. Yes, it takes more effort, focus, and coordination, especially doing loader work, but I think it's that much more rewarding. To me, the HST is pretty boring (like an auto trans car), but for people not comfortable with using a clutch and shifting, it's a great option.

which one lasts longer, the hydro or shuttle?

    • @goldencircleimplementcente4395
      @goldencircleimplementcente4395  7 лет назад

Depending on how you use it, the hydro can sometimes see an erosion or decay of power over a long lifetime. This is true of any brand of any color, and any size.

My opinion is the geared trans will out last the hydro, the geared is also cheaper to fix than the hydro, I've got both ....I prefer the clutch and geared transmission myself.

Shuttle by far. Hydrostat's will always run into pump problems. The Hydro is nice for lots of quick back and forth work but the maintenance, risk and cost of repair simply aren't worth it. Especially for a homeowner or light commercial where a few seconds lost is not a big deal.

That shuttle looked kinda cheaply designed.

Cold or not that engine sounds horrific! No way in hell I am going to spend 30k and listen to that all day! 30yr old case or deere sound better than that!
