Mistreating women who are from other nations who are living in your own nation who had put all their trust in a man from that nation while treating them as probable being only just another 'Mexican' according to most U.S. men at work always or in another kind of situation when one U.S. man and other Canadian men too like Robert Miller are often busy flying very young women stuggling to become eduated off to his deserted island to exploit them or is ordering sex workers into his home and in his hotel rooms too many probable young as age 15 well for sure one sure that is one sure fire way to be allowing nationalism in both the U.S. and in Canda as well to become destroyed from within. Very difficult for decent men now too as well who having to pay more taxes which are being wasted on being strained social safety nets thanks to how many people around are ofen behaving as if they are only so worried about whether or not the odd bad man around like that is happy in life too while their clueless partner sometimes too allegedly only has white woman syndrome. By the way some of those bad men are the odd military officer around and the odd policemen around too. A definite clue to everyone that a bad man is getting braver all the time is when he is bragging about how prostitutes from his nation are the best. Perhaps while his former wife was divorcing him at the time there was way too many people around in Russia too only worrying if he is happy enough in life too. I wish to have paid attention more to what British prime minister Theresa May was saying about Russia while I was only wondering to myself who all in Russia is it that we should be all worried about how we are going to help seeing them get arrested soon enough.

Regarding the comments about the freedom convoy truckers not having the right to park their trucks on the streets of Ottawa: (1) they were directed to park their trucks there by the Ottawa police, and (2) they stayed there because Trudeau refused to have anyone listen to their grievances after referring to them by every insult he could think of. If he had treated them as the decent Canadians they were and listened to them, the trucks would have been gone by the end of the weekend, as they and the Ottawa police originally expected.

He says a lot about Trump @2:10. I'll even say most of them are fair and accurate policy statements, some are descriptive opinions which is also fair but obviously disputable, but the first thing he said seems to be just factually wrong. He says that Trump is, "someone who tried to overthrow the constitution of the United States."
That is an extraordinary claim and requires extraordinary evidence. I presume he is either referring to Trump's claims that Democrats stole the election or Frum is claiming that (a) Trump intentionally wanted the riot on January, 2021, and (b) that somehow that riot was an attempt to "overthrow the constitution of the United States". There is no evidence of any components of these claims.
Claiming that an election was stolen is not an attempt to overthrow anything, obviously. As has been shown countless times over, the Democrats made such claims and efforts to overturn many more elections and much more vigorously. In 2000 Al Gore took it to the SCOTUS. In 2004 they claimed Diebold machines were used to cheat and went to trial in Ohio.
In 2016 they claimed it was stolen by Russian interference and that Trump had colluded with them, and even convinced 10 electors to flip their votes (the "Hamilton Electors") and many Democrats objected as VP Biden was counting elector votes in January 2017.
Then in 2020 itself, Democrats ran a campaign of "stop the steal" claiming that Trump was trying to cheat, including July 2, 2020, Joe Biden said they had 600 lawyers to fight Trump if he came out ahead, on Aug 25, 2020, Hillary Clinton had the interview with a strategist shown on NBC where she claimed Trump was cheating and that Biden should never concede, don't give an inch, fight all the way to the end, and she was sure they'd succeed. Pelosi claim multiple times that the only way Trump would win was by cheating. And Biden's campaign manager said they wouldn't concede, just days before the election.
The Jan 6 breaking into the Capitol was planned by a handful of extremists well in advance of that day and fully reported in the news, with Capitol police saying they'd be ready. They asked for reinforcements 6 times and were denied (under Pelosi's authority, we might add), and Trump offered National Guard for that day if needed.
On Jan 6, he explicitly laid out exactly what he wanted people to do, to march peacefully and cheer on their Congressional Representatives and Senators on formally objecting to elector votes, and for VP Pence to not certify them.
None of that is remotely unconstitutional, nor an attempt to "overthrow the Constitution", and even less than what Democrats had done in 2016 with the "Hamilton Electors".
Now this is all available in video and was even all shown with evidence for it all at the impeachment trial they held after that to try to stop Trump from running again. It's easily all available.
If David Frum has any evidence for what he is claiming, he should present it. Otherwise, it seems to me his political opinion on the matter is just based off of propaganda. I believe Frum is smarter than that, but tribal psychology typically overrules intelligence.

Motivating citizens to interrupt the counting of electoral college votes as Trump invited his supporters to do IS an attempt at overthrowing the procedures set up within constitution. We don't know the further details you claim don't exist, in part, because of Trump's motions, delays and Supreme court overriding of constitutional ammendents and legal president upsetting interference with the Washington legal case being inched through the federal court system in the use. What are our Canadian values? Our common belief systems? What holds our country together as a population? Apparently, we cannot be considered post national because we are and have always been multi-cultural. Is this true? Our many contributions to the world have been under the Canadian banner which, since the World Wars, became more definable and visible. What I have seen since our present PM came into office is an undermining of our military (why?), our independence as citizens in many respects, our education systems, our judicial systems, our value of life re: abortion and MAID, the catch and release policies on crime which has overloaded our courts, frustrated policing, and increased repetitive crime and promoted (inadvertently) escalation in severity of crimes, safe consumption sites and "safe supply" (paid for by tax dollars) have come to be more dangerous than effective, and, add to that the topics you have discussed here... Perhaps we do need a defined national identity with common, agreed upon core values, beliefs compatible with a free (as opposed to dictatorial or any other version) society, less government intervention, less oppressive taxation, more promotion of the inherent dignity of the common man (meaning people) and our capability and capacity to innovate, create caring communities, and promote LIFE.
If the powers that be want Canada to be part of a global community; why not ask us outright instead of manipulating and wrangling to the nth degree in such subversive manners? I think I know the answer to that question.

The whole thing was caused by the government no listening or talking to people on the street. I am sure the truckers all thought that they would be there for the week end. The PM's arrogant ego blocked the way.
My Thoughts anyway. It is always interesting to Listen to David.

Instead of it being a politically motivated utilization of foreign interference, your case, David Frum could also apply to a country that didn't believe foreign interference could happen in Canada, because we were such a small entity who would bother? So NO ONE, including Harper, up until now had a really serious sense of our need for the counter intelligence operations you describe. And the landscape of change related to counterintelligence has shifted massively - under our very feet within the timeframe of the last 3 years of the Harper government through to now. Perhaps Canada's naivete has simply caught up to itself and Trudeau is handling it stupidly.

I have never voted conservative, and this particular leader I object to vehemently. I do however very much appreciate listening to David Frum. I take the opportunity to listen to him whenever I can. It is very important to me to try to understand the perspective of each party, but I just can’t listen to the current leader. Mr Frum is always very concise, and I always learn something new to investigate. Often, a few things. I hope he will continue to be available on podcasts and everywhere else, so that his thoughtful and important comments are available to those of us who would otherwise be far less informed. Ditto. I think Frum appearing weekly on his mother’s former broadcast time slot, would be a much more effective opposition (thereby creating a more effective government) than anything happening in Parliament. The current opposition parties are just distractions to Canadians, and gnats with zero impact to the government. Almost no actual issues are discussed in a meaningful way, because journalists wrongly take their cues from, and parrot, the official opposition, whose only activity is propaganda, rather than policy and governance.

Thoughtful commentary by Frum as always. That being said, the idea that foreign governments would be controlling through intimidation the votes of Canadian expatriates is not intuitive. Even authoritarian regimes have limited alertness and capacity to follow the minutiae of foreign countries' voting rules and the behaviour of Canadian citizens voting in their midst. The harm that would be caused by allowing controlled expatriates to vote certainly does not outweigh the benefit of empowering citizens who might still have a long-term stake in Canada.
Also, it seems like cognitive dissonance to both play up the legitimacy of India's concerns with the Canadian Sikh community and to condemn India's lawless murders. Is it not intuitively obvious that an Indian government that feels such disrespect for international and Canadian law might also possess a crazed and over-intrusive sense of what constitutes a legitimate "threat" to the Indian state and its citizens? At the time of writing I have yet to see evidence of a systematic and recurring Sikh threat that the Canadian government could have taken tangible steps to undermine.
