Dude. Boots has a problem with his feet and by proxy with lateral movement. Angles led to Karen landing that 3 way too often. a (dumb) midrange jab also was a problem, and after the 6th rd, he left himself square when initiating his own offense at times. Tape doesn't lie. Maybe his feet will be better at 154, but I think his opposition may see him as food. Good luck in the big fight.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned the horrible job done by the corner. You'd expect a solid trainer like Ennis' father to give some tactical advice; rather than the incessant, "get em' outta the there". Perhaps team Ennis needs another set of eyes in their corner that actually studies tape. Lastly, Ennis is known to be a gym rat; so it was pretty annoying to hear the excuses about the guy fighting to the level of his opposition.

Why are people so critical of Boots? Let me break it down like a fraction… Vergil Ortiz did not look good in his last fight. Many people thought he lost. Bud did not look great against Madrimov. Many people thought he lost. Shu Shu Carrington did not look good against his last opponent. Almost everyone thought he lost. And Shakur Stevenson did not look good against Edwin De La Santos. At the end of the day Boots looked better against Karen than all the fighters I just mentioned in their last fights. Yes it may not have been his best performance but nobody questioned whether or not he won and he scored a knockdown! The moral of the story is sometimes boxers have an off night at the office. It happens it’s boxing. You are not going to knock everyone out. People who are now calling him a bum or exposed are just casual fans who know nothing about boxing. Regardless of what all the haters say he still beats everyone at 147. Point blank period!

Beautifully said, we shouldn't be too hard on boots.
To be honest I knew he was gonna have a tough time in the rematch against the Ukrainian guy (I forgot his name). He was no joke, I knew he was gonna come in with a lot more confidence than in the first match. Over all it was actually a really good fight. And it's so stupid how despite it being a good fight and people enjoying it as a Good fight. They just shit on the more popular fighter. It's like saying the canelo vs Ryder fight. Look, canelo did not look Great. But holy hell was the fight good. No clinching, pure punching and great infighting by ryder. But in the end people don't see as a good fight cuz canelo(the favorite) didn't look as good as he should have.
Boots has great potential, and it's not gonna be visible every fight. Some fights will look easy (then they tell him to fight better people). And some fights will be harder( then people will say he wasn't as good as we thought he was.). Overall that's just boxing. It's more of an art than science. Cuz in science everything must be a fact to be real. But in art even the most talented painters can mess up. But the thing is that artists can make art from their mistakes. But You can't make something go past the theory stage if it fails.

I believe I could solve boxings problem... They should just have a super champion tournament for all the belts with the top 12 fighters in each division. Have a set purse for each rd... Example rd.1) 2mil, rd.2) 4mil, rd3.) 6mil etc. Each fighter is guaranteed the money, plus each promotion will host each rd... The winner of the tournament becomes the Grand Champion, then goes on to fight for Undisputed... For example, the winner of 130lbs fights the winner of 135lbs at a catch weight for Undisputed and 50mil that each major promotion will put up a share of the purse for each rd n the championship. Match room, PBC, Top Rank, Golden Boy, n Pro Box. Then they should take each undisputed champion over seas and fight the best champions to become the World Undisputed Champion... I know it's a lot, but that's just where my mind is when it comes to this.

5:49 disagree. He weighed in a pound under, that’s not someone struggling to make weight. Him bringing up weight immediately after the fight was him place blame for his performance. Eddy Hearn said that they spoke about his weight prior to this fight and he said he can keep making it comfortably. He also didn’t look tired. The issue was Karen’s movement and angling. Boots footwork wouldn’t allow him to counter that which is why you saw more rough housing as he was smothering to counter the movement.

Boots will get beat if he moves up to 54 and he will get beat if fight someone with power. Imagine if Karen had any kind of power this would a different conversation right now😂😂😂😂

  • @motsy15

Karen looked to be kinda slow but was able to land consistently against boots. Part of the reason is he didn’t respect Karen’s power. Boots is a huge welterweight. He probably shouldn’t try that at 154. I think that’s why he stays at 147 and struggles to make weight. Moving up is risky when you get hit alot

Look the truth is boots iq and skillz are no where in the universe good eniugh to even pose a threat against a terence Crawford. Theres a lot of worldclass fighters out there, but being a top pound for pound like Crawford and Canello your game has to be vertuoso level, full stop.

Bottom line is he's the champ and he won. If Boots KO'd Karen it would have not made a difference. Eddie Hearn needs to set up the unification fights for him at 147. He should have signed with PBC in order for it to happen.

No one gets hit on purpose but he definitely can keep his hands up use footwork angles and head movement he just didn’t do that THIS FIGHT. If you want to look at his skill set. Watch the Romain villa fight and it will show you what he has in his toolbox. You can say he’s not ready for Crawford but when you name fighters who don’t have everything Crawford has it’s just laughable.

He should just master his body at 147, Listen, not every boxer you fight can be knocked out. Every fight demands a plan. If you go according to a plan that handicaps you, is to your own disadvantage. Stay knowledgeable enough to see what your opponent is doing and beat them to their game plan. That's what we call being an elite fighter. May weather learnt it and it worked, we already have a blue print of what is possible. What of if just one Punch of Karen knocked him down. Good fighters stays calm when delivering their best. Maison got dropped twice when he was comfortable delivering some combos. Ennis should just learn and correct his mistakes when fighting. Some fighters don't shell up when their opponent comes out brawling, they will punch with you. He should learn from Timzus mistake. My opinion.

Ortiz has been protected his whole career and Boots would end his protected career. Boots fought the wrong fight constantly instructed by his father to get him out of there. So because he kept looking for the KO and had no respect for his opponents power he looked bad. He would not fight Ortiz that way and yes he can be better defensively. If Boots chooses to boxing his opponents he is very very difficult to beat for anyone in the game. I only really see Crawford having an edge over him based on experience at a higher level.
