- Is philosophy worth studying? Does it have any practical use in a modern world driven by science? I believe it does.
The emergence of the natural sciences through the age of enlightenment was a significant breakthrough and has revolutionized our world, but the value of science does not negate that of philosophy. In this video, I explain the potential limits of science and the utility of philosophical investigation.

My university course of philosophy has been quite covincing on that there is hardly anything more useleless than philosophy.
You can't even spell "phylosophy"😅
@@brutallyhonestfrank5542I have corrected the spelling, but it doesn't help philosophy as such )))
@vovk5758 just being an asshat, no offense meant. Although to your original comment, philosophy gives us a method to have logical discourse. Without philosophy, you couldn't discern the difference between science and religion. You'd be in capable of discussing or merely pondering creative and independent thoughts. You'd have a world of nihilist, cattle, and farmers. Most don't depend or even consider philosophy, but with its existence, we always have a path to Objective reasoning if all goes to shit... again. To rebuild and try another swing at living a universally prosperous and objectively honest life.
Great video as usual man. Keep it up!
Grateful for the support!
First video I've watched of yours, fantastic stuff dude.
Philosophy isn’t useless, but a degree in philosophy is
Great video! I've heard it said before that the utility of philosophy in modern times is to make one question, or to explore ethical concerns; but the way you articulated all that in this video was really well spoken...(P.S., I'll never understand how so many Philosophy RUclips creators can successfully weather, or ignore dumb comments like the one below...I guess y'all are FAR better stoics than myself, LOL! Cheers.)
Hahah can't give the jesters much time of day. Happy to hear you enjoyed the video!
what a great video😇😇
Have you seen “closer to truth” episodes here on RUclips?
I haven’t but they seem fascinating!
R u doing a degree in philosophy?
No! Just self study!
It's all subjective truth, even science is,it's not exempt
I don't think subjective truth is possible in the first place.
Philosophy has seriously changed my life and has made me a better person. It has also made me fall in love with learning and developing myself intellectually. Pretty useless if you ask me.
Maybe, but phenomenology and nihilism (as with the other sophistic arts) are definitely useless.
Fair but phenomenology I find to be fun to read and conceptualize. Low or no practicality though I agree
Absolutely not !!!! Stalin, Abimael Guzman, Mao, Pol Pot and many other extremely influential people started they carreer studing philosofy
...by "extremely influential," do you mean in the worst possible sense? Yes, communist dictators have been "influential," but not for good reasons...I honestly can't tell if this is a poe comment, or not. Were you high when you wrote this?
@@DyarContreras Yes, i meant it in the bad way. Honestly, it seems to me that studing philosofy without having experienced real phisical work, creates a tendence to presume a intellectual superiority, some kind of mesianic wisdom. Most of Latin America terrorist were born in wealthie families, never worked before, and took philosofy studies to believe themselves as Mesias. Of course that philosofy is extremely important, the real important values for us as mankind are subjective, but we must not forget that there are no comprobated truths, but evident lies. So, thjnking that the reading of philosofy books makes one the owner of truth seems to be dangerous.
By the way, i never used any kind of drugs
@@reynaldowify oh, okay….your explanation makes sense. Sorry if I came off as too harsh, or judgmental…I am a Mexican American, and to be honest, I don’t know too much about Latin American history. I have studied Mexican history, a bit on my own. I am aware though, of the Marxist ideology that is currently practiced in the governments of some Latin American countries, like Venezuela.
@@DyarContreras Thanks. I am argentinian, and currently we suffer a light version of socialism, or better, communist lovers.
As south american, we had a lot of terrorist attcks , mostly inspired by Cuba, and of course, with the blessing of Moscow.
Up from the late 60´s , the guerilla has acted several times Mostly composed by some cuban leaders and people from universities ( humanistic studies), even with catolic students that were inspired by the" teologia de la liberacion"
Philosophy is about as useful as Alchemy. It was a good building block to the better fields of study that came after it, namely science and technology.
