I really love the way you are so nonchalant about not knowing how to do things, that's a future Dan issue. You always make things work and it always looks fine.
Dan your "All or nothing" regarding brakes is the smartest move you will ever make. Brakes are nothing to patch together they should always be well thought out and properly installed. That pedal and the rubber on the tires is the only thing keeping you from disaster.
It blows my mind when I tell people that there brakes are shot or they have a leaking hose or line. Some just say fix the heat or a/c depending on the season. "I will get that fixed later". Smh
Nothing beats a nagy significant other than a day of retail therapy...20 cm of snow near Vancouver BC and I'm watching DDSpeedshop, gotta luv them Snow Days ! Copper/Nickle brake line aka Coopernickle ;)
Interesting thoughts on the pinion angle. I always just set the pinion angle so the U joints are as straight as possible when the car is sitting on the wheels, with the weight of the car on the suspension. That's when I was even concerned about it. Back when I was young, we would jack up the rear end with either air shocks or longer rear shackles for leaf springs, and put super wide tires on the back, that would stick out past the fender. That was the thing back then, and I still love the look. Huge rear tires (on no more than 15" wheels) and a lot of nose to the ground rake. That played hell with the pinion angle, but it still worked, which told me that pinion angle does not have to be perfect. Glasspacks are THE way to go. They worked great in the '50s, they still work great today. And the older they get, the better they sound as the glass burns out.
My hat is off to you Dan. Laying on that cold concrete is brutal. You need to get an old throw rug. Obviously not while welding or cutting. You have an amzing work ethic.
Good morning from Cape Cod 🦈 when I first saw that car I thought what a basket case, seeing it now is a testament to your skills and abilities. You really do some awesome work. 👍✌️🇺🇲

Really enjoy your videos. You show people what you do and aren't telling people "how to do it right". I can always watch that guy in North Dakota if I need to be told the proper way to pour gas down a carb and start a car.
Dan, put the yoga mats on the cold floor. It helps a lot to separate your body from the cold concrete. I know it's a pain but makes it much more bearable.
Small rectangle sheets of styrofoam work well, some use em on garage door panels. Beat the tar out of a pair during the winter then replace em next season
Love this build Dan. I enjoy all the builds because you’re saving cars. I put this one up there with 57 Chevy convertible it’s one of my favorites. Keep up good work. 👍😎✌️
You guys are a riot. Had some surgery a few weeks ago, and am sofa bound. You crack me up. I lived in Pittsburgh and NEW PA for 32 years before moving to SC. 77 this afternoon. Had some low 20's over night for about a week. But... how do you handle the cold and snow. I know it has to be about 10 times worse there.
Pinion angle is critical to an enjoyable vibration free ride. My 62 C10 had 1.5 degrees up also and I used the shims you mentioned between the trailing arms and rear end. It was quite a bit rustier than your 57, haha. Car is coming along very nicely though, keep at it!
Dan, you are so lucky that you have all these cool projects to work on for the wintertime. You are so far north that there are some days that you can't go outside because it's so cold ❄️ 🥶. Good thing you got a very cool 😎 '57 Hardtop and an awesome 👍 "Better Off Dead" Camaro to occupy your time! Anyway, thanks for the video 📸.
Well Dan you got the 2 degrees down right on the rear correct . I've seen everyone always measure with the angle finder off the top/bottom flat on the yoke. Never seen it done on the housing casting , not that it is not on the same plane as the yoke ,but I do as the so-called pros do.
